00:01In the wake of the Bondi terror attack, the Anti-Semitism Royal Commission was tasked
00:06with investigating Jewish hate, but key advocates now say it's been cut too short.
00:12It is a Royal Commission that finishes in a matter of days, and as it stands it is a
00:16Royal Commission with unfinished business.
00:18Sydney Liberal MP and Jewish leader Julian Leeser put forward a motion in Parliament
00:23to debate extending its December deadline, which was promptly voted down.
00:28The question of the debate be agenda, put the question, those opinions say aye, against
00:32no, put the ayes have it.
00:34The Independent Inquiry has so far heard from over 200 witnesses and received 20,000 submissions.
00:41The calls to include key advocates, including former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg have fallen
00:47flat.
00:48Julian Leeser says extending it would allow for more witnesses, including the PM and other
00:54ministers to front up.
00:55Let us hear from them what went wrong from the very top.
00:58There is no division within this parliament about the horrific nature of anti-Semitism.
01:04Typically Royal Commissions take years, not months, but the truncated timeline of this
01:09one is due to criminal proceedings against accused shooter Naveen Akram.
01:14Public hearings end next week, giving the inquiry less than four months to produce a final report.
01:20This afternoon, prominent businessman David Gonski gave evidence.
01:25He was appointed chair of the task force created to improve anti-Semitism education.
01:29And whilst we are working hard to hopefully solve some problems, we can't solve them all.
01:37The inquiry continues.
01:39The inquiry continues.
