00:30Now, they have shown more highlights, but it's because it's training camp.
00:33Talon Green didn't exist in our lives until April, late April.

00:38We all assumed he was getting traded.

00:42I think many of us still assume he's probably getting traded at the end of all this.
00:45So, there was only one guy you could put out, so it had to be Shador Sanders.
00:49So, most fans just probably assumed, outside of Cleveland, most football people,
00:53not even football people, just casual observers who consider themselves football fans,
00:57just assumed that Shador Sanders was going to get the job.
01:00And so, this is probably maybe throwing off a lot of people.
01:04And, you know, you will have to deal with this where you and I are very close to it.
01:09Browns fans are very close to it.
01:11And you and I can see the logic, even though you want Shador to start, I want Shador to start.
01:16We both see the logic that they would decide that Deshaun Watson would start.
01:22I think you're going to get a real blowback on this.
01:23I think a lot of people are going to be very surprised, who are just general football people,
01:28general fans, that Shador Sanders wouldn't start this season to be Deshaun Watson.
01:34I think you're going to get a lot of pushback and a lot of surprise if Deshaun Watson were to
01:39get the job.
01:40But I think if anybody were just checking in as a casual fan, bopping around the internet,
01:44and saw reports that, hey, maybe Deshaun Watson's leading the charge for quarterback with the bronze,
01:49you go, what?

01:54I want to get back to the first and second preseason game question here in a minute.
01:56I was thinking about this yesterday as we were talking with Daryl.
02:00And I wanted to bring it up yesterday.
02:01Never got a chance.
02:02I want to bring it up now.
02:03We've done a lot of talking about quarterbacks.
02:05And you've mentioned that, hey, it's entirely plausible that Todd Monken goes to the drawing board and goes,
02:13you know, this offensive line, it's new.
02:16We have a veteran there.
02:19He's dealt with worse offensive lines before or inexperienced offensive lines.
02:25Maybe the tie goes to the veteran, and that's one of the reasons because of it.
02:28Definitely a point that you can make.
02:30Definitely a reason it would happen.
02:31We had a caller bring that up yesterday, and I thought about that too.
02:34And I don't want to tailor everything to just an offensive line, but I think that there's something to it.
02:38A young, inexperienced QB, it would feel very much like you're throwing him to the wolves at the beginning of
02:43the season
02:43when you have five new offensive linemen out there in front of him, for crying out loud.
02:47But there's a guy who I think that has more pressure than any of these guys combined.
02:51You know, I like Shador Sanders.
02:53I think our starting quarterback is in college in 2026 right now.
02:57And for 2027, our starting quarterback will be drafted, and we'll move forward with that guy probably,
03:02I would imagine, in the high first round.
03:04So, Deshaun Watson, I think he's done after this year.
03:07I think that's a post-June 1st cut, or whenever the hell they decide to do it.
03:11We can ask Daryl or Jack Duffin how that all works, and we move on.
03:14Dylan Gabriel, I think he'd be traded by the end of the year, and maybe Taylor Green is a backup
03:19for a while.

03:20Or he ends up playing a different position like you've always wanted him to do.
03:25I think the most important guy that we don't really talk about that much,
03:29and Daryl kind of brought up the fight with Jared Verse, is Spencer Fano.
03:33I mean, he's the first-round pick, and you already have a bad taste in your mouth
03:36because of the other first-round offensive lineman that Andrew Berry had taken back in 2020 in Jed Wills.
03:44And when Daryl had mentioned, like, yeah, like, this was exciting, like, fans were excited
03:48because it's like, all right, we got a guy who cares.
03:50We got a guy who's willing to fight, unlike Jed Wills was,
03:53because, you know, he kind of had that face like he just didn't give a damn at all times,
03:57and that just sends fans up the walls with him.
04:00And then, yeah, maybe Spencer Fano is going to be that guy.
04:03And I think there's more pressure on Spencer Fano,
04:06considering that he'll probably have to move around the offensive line
04:09if he has a nice 10 to 12-year career, hopefully.
04:13If he's able to do that, there's going to be more pressure on him
04:16than there is on any of these quarterbacks.
04:17Because with the exception of the most ardent fans of either of Deshaun Watson
04:22or Shador Sanders, I would say most Browns fans feel that our future,
04:27that position, is not on this roster right now.

04:30Where he is the future of this, and he is on this roster right now, Spencer Fano is.
04:34Yeah, when you're a top 10 pick, and it is at a position where they had already tried to draft
04:40highly.
04:41Yeah.
04:41You know, and it didn't work out.
04:43And the ghost of Joe Thomas, who's sometimes there at camp, like, that is pressure, okay?
04:50And, you know, it was interesting.
04:51The way that people were reacting over the last week, like, uh-oh, is he not going to for sure
04:57get the starting job?
04:58And then yesterday, Todd Munkin, you know, what?
05:01Made him the starting left tackle?
05:02Like, it's pretty understood now.
05:05That was important, and I think that should at least comfort some people in the interim here
05:11until we actually see him play, that that's good to see.
05:14That stuff with Jared Verse, obviously, was something the fans absolutely loved,
05:18and the fact that they could go at it in practice, and then after practice still seem like,
05:23hey, they're not only teammates, like, they're bonding, and this is just the natural order of things
05:29in a football locker room.
05:31Like, I love that.
05:32I absolutely love that, because this is such a tough position.
05:36It is so tough.
05:37And just being a rookie on an offensive line in general, and being a top-ten pick,
05:41like, there's going to be pressure, but you're supposed to be the answer for the next,
05:45not when we talk offensive line.
05:46We don't say—
05:47You're supposed to be starting for a decade.
05:48A decade.
05:48Yeah.
05:49Like, think about that.
05:49It's still the expectation.
05:50In sports, nothing's a decade except offensive line.
05:53It's unfair.
05:53Guys move around a lot more than they used to.
05:55I'm trying to adjust.
05:56I don't want to over-adjust to it.
05:58You know I've been a stickler for it in the past, but they're expected to—
06:00your best are supposed to start, and they're supposed to be plug-and-play still for a lot
06:04of fans, and if they don't, there's a great big red flag that gets brought up.
06:07Like, the whole thing with him trading off last week, reps with DeJuan Jones, I already
06:11started to see it.
06:12I wasn't going to bring it up, but you already saw a couple of fans going,
06:14Oh, God, here we go.
06:16People were nervous.
06:16And I didn't think it was anything to crack the crust over, and I'm glad it isn't,
06:20but I think there's going to be other positions there, because maybe DeJuan Jones is having
06:24a fine camp.
06:24Maybe he's going to be more comfortable over at right tackle, because I know DeJuan Jones loves to
06:28play right tackle way more than he likes to play left tackle, and if you do have him
06:32over there at right tackle, okay, what do you do with Titus Howard?
06:34Do you bump him over to the left guard or right guard spot?
06:37Do you do something like that?
06:38Because I think right now, you might be in a position where you just want your best five
06:42out there, Tone.
06:43Maybe you just want that, but I think that Spencer Fano has way more pressure on him than
06:46any of these quarterbacks.
06:48The more pressure than a quarterback, that's interesting, because I've just always operated under
06:52the assumption that every quarterback, who is especially in a precarious situation like,
06:58say, Shador, where you're trying to carve out a future, and a lot of that's going to
07:04be relying on you playing well this year.
07:06Like, Spencer, we're not saying has a chance to either be on a different team next year
07:12or who knows who's going to give him an opportunity.
07:15See, that's where the pressure, I think, mounts for Shador.
07:17No one's talking about him playing in Canada next year, Spencer Fano.
07:20No one's talking about his career being over next year, Spencer Fano.
07:24I understand that, but I'm thinking just from a fan, and personally, I think you're right,
07:28but I think from a fan perspective, like, once they go, it's up to them to continue their
07:32careers.
07:33I think that there's guys that we wish well for, but it's up to them, and if they can't
07:38continue their careers, we really don't care, and we're thankful for the time they have
07:41with us.
07:41But I think for the fan base and for Andrew Barry, like, he's not out of the woods right
07:46now.
07:46Like, he looks better.
07:48Because he got D. Podesta out of the way.
07:50He looks a lot better without Paul.
07:52He looks a lot better because of the last couple of drafts.
07:55They've loved this last draft.
07:56They really, really liked this draft in 2025.
08:00There are some guys that it seems that there have been some changes made, and we're fitting
08:05in more culturally.
08:07But you still aren't out of the woods, because now you have to answer for this lack of greatness
08:13in your quarterback room.
08:14Because you're probably drafting a QB.
08:16QB, what's going to help him get to this coming offseason?
08:20Like, I'm not thinking that Andrew Barry's job is in question right now, but it's going
08:25to be a long year.
08:26And what's going to help you get there?
08:27Spencer Fano doing well.
08:29That's what's going to help you get to be able to make that decision to fix this quarterback
08:32issue.
08:33Casey Concepcion, Denzel Boston doing well.
08:36Other positions doing well.
08:37If your other positions are doing well, it helps you start to figure it out.
08:41And also, there's the other thing to it.
08:43You look at those three positions, these three players that I just mentioned, the two positions
08:47that they play.
08:48What positions does it feel like Andrew Barry's had a problem with throughout his seven years
08:52now with the Cleveland Browns?
08:54In charge.
08:55It's been offensive line.
08:56It's been wide receivers.
08:57Wide receivers, yeah.
08:58Now, he hasn't had a chance to draft a wide receiver very high up until this year.
09:02But before that, the offensive lineman that he drafted before was Jed Wills.
09:06I don't need to tell you about Jed Wills.
09:07All you need to do is bring up Tristan Wirfs.
09:10And that's not set well with people.
09:11There's plenty of people who wanted his ass fired years ago over that misstep here.
09:15Well, now you have another chance.
09:16There's a ton of pressure on Spencer Fano.
09:18And my biggest complaint, I think, above everything with Andrew Barry was that I thought we could
09:24all see the writing on the wall two and a half years ago on the offensive line situation
09:29coming to a head.
09:31And it literally came to a head in this offseason when I don't know that it had to.
09:37I don't know why, how a GM who's as smart as Andrew is, and I think has done some really
09:44good things.
09:44I've been very critical, obviously, over the years.
09:47How could you not be with their record and all of that?
09:50But how do you ever get to a point where you have to swap out an entire offensive line
09:54in one offseason?
09:55I can think.
09:55That just seems like poor planning.
09:57I can tell you about it.
09:58That's some bad luck, too.
09:59It is a little bit, but I can tell you it gets very nitty gritty.
10:02Like, Jack Conklin, what were you going to draft that, or what were you going to sign
10:07in free agency at that time?
10:09Yes, with the injury history, I understand that.
10:12Who were you going to sign at that time that wasn't going to be as expensive or even more
10:16expensive than Jack Conklin?
10:17Were you in a position to go to the draft?
10:19No, you weren't in a position to go to the draft at that time to replace a Jack Conklin,
10:23truly.
10:24The decision was Zach Zinter.
10:26I love Zach Zinter coming out.
10:28It seems that the injury that happened with him at Michigan has just stayed with him his
10:32entire career, which is really unfortunate.
10:34Some guys were able to come back from it.
10:36It seems that it still seems to hamper him to this day, and he's been banged up.
10:40Obviously, the Jed Wills pick was a torrential miss that really made people feel bad.
10:45Like, he's had those misses before, and it's for those reasons why I think there's a lot
10:49of guys going, yeah, Kenny should have been fired three years ago.
10:51Well, he's not been fired, but I think that if Spencer Fano is going out there and he just
10:55becomes a revolving door, that is going to stick with Jimmy Haslam going, wait a minute.
11:00Now, this is two big first-round picks you might have missed on here, and now we're going
11:04to go after a quarterback?
11:05We're going to go after the guy that I'm going to try to hand my keys back over to
11:09my franchise again?
11:10We're going to do this, and I'm going to trust you on this?
11:12Like, that might be the Waterloo for him.
11:14So, if Spencer Fano goes out there and deals with probably inconsistent quarterback play,
11:20because you'll probably have more than one playing for you all year, deals with inconsistent
11:24play along the line with a bunch of strangers, perfect strangers up until April going into
11:30this year.
11:31If Spencer Fano is able to play well, that's a hell of a feather in the cap for Andrew
11:34Berry.
11:35So, yeah, personally, like Spencer Fano, if things work out here, excellent.
11:39He'll be taken care of.
11:40He'll be a Brown probably for most of his career, if not all his career, because it's still an
11:44offensive lineman.
11:45Even if it doesn't work out here, he'll still be picked up.
11:47He'll still have other opportunities, and he might catch on somewhere else.
11:51Like, Cam Irving was still able to have a career after Cleveland.
11:54Austin Corbett was still able to have a career after Cleveland.
11:57Like, other guys were able to find it.
11:58He'll still be able to do it.
11:59Personally, it's not as much pressure as Deshaun Watson, who may be out of the league
12:02at the end of this year.
12:03Chidor Sanders, who's questionably out of the league after this year, if he isn't able
12:08to play to a high standard.
12:09Dylan Gabriel gone, maybe.
12:11Taylor Green ends up being a backup.
12:12There's more personal pressure on those guys, but organizationally, for the general manager,
12:18for the fan base, way more pressure on Spencer Fano.
12:22Because, again, to a man, to every Browns fan, a real Browns fan, I'd say the vast majority
12:27just thinks that the quarterback next year is in college.
12:30But Spencer Fano is supposed to be here long-term, Tone.
12:33Well, look, we talked about having a guy here for a decade and being able to fortify an offensive
12:40line.
12:41I mean, that just changes the dynamic of a team completely if we actually get decent
12:46offensive line play.
12:47And so that's something that going from Stefanski to Munkin, especially with the Stefanski slash
12:53Wyatt Teller thing last year or the front office, I still am not exactly sure what happened with
13:00Wyatt, who, is he not going to be starting in Houston?
13:03I've not paid very close attention.
13:05I apologize.
13:06I've not paid very close attention.
13:07And just the fall-off there, and we saw some of his play clearly fall off, but it was
13:15like, man, he got benched, you know, with how many weeks left in the season?
13:18Well, no, they wanted to rotate.
13:19Yeah, rotate.
13:20Because that's how highly they thought of protecting their quarterbacks.
13:22They decided to rotate offensive linemen and bring him in cold on fourth down and short.
13:26Because that's always a really smart decision to make.
13:29What I want to be careful of is, I don't want to just give the job to somebody who performs
13:33against backups if the other guy ends up going against starters and goes up against the Bills
13:39who are supposed to be a Super Bowl contender and actually in the joint practice.
13:43Now, I know Munkin said right now he's going to divvy up the reps in the joint practice,
13:48but as we saw this week, that is always open to reversal.
13:52So, let's get started.
