Rescue teams evacuated locals and foreign tourists after monsoon rains inundated Lonavala, a popular hill station in India's western Maharashtra state, on July 6.

Maharashtra's Pune district, which includes Lonavala, recorded around 90 millimetres of rainfall over the past 24 hours.

00:41India's weather department issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Gujarat, coastal Maharashtra,

00:54was among the worst hit with three more rain-related deaths recorded in Pune City, bringing the
00:59total to 13, while there were also cloudburst warnings in Nashik City.
01:04Relentless rainfall also triggered flash floods and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir, disrupted
01:10rail, road, and air services in several regions, and inundated towns in Odisha.
01:17The heavy rain comes despite India recording its fifth driest June since records began in
01:231901, raising concerns over agriculture and economic growth.
