00:00How much does a guy like D.J. Reader help you get?
00:03The two of you have talked about you and Jermaine kind of guy like that playing in front of you,
00:07occupying a lot of space?
00:08He do a great job occupying a lot of space and making plays.
00:12He a heavy guy in the middle.
00:14He hold his own, take on them double teams.
00:15He do a great job at that, so yeah, he frees up a lot.
00:19What about playing next to Jermaine?
00:20How much of that is that an asset to you?
00:23How much of that could be able to help you?
00:25Having a veteran like that, you know, do a lot of stuff before?
00:27Yeah, I think having Jermaine help a lot, you know, just what he has done in the league already.
00:33He's about nine years in.
00:34He's proven, you know, like you said, he's a vet.
00:36You know, just being able to learn from him and, you know, grow next to him.
00:39He's a great player, a great leader.
00:41Yeah.
00:41What's that dynamic relationship between the two of you?
00:43Are you like always asking people questions or is he just constantly coming up and giving you tips?
00:48How does that work?
00:49Honestly, we kind of go back and forth.
00:51We go back and forth when we're on the field.
00:53We talk a lot.
00:54We go back and forth with a lot of stuff.
00:56We always reminding each other what we might got, you know.
00:59So it's a lot of bouncing it off each other.
01:01But I definitely, when it comes to, like, off the field stuff and just, you know, routine and stuff like
01:05that,
01:05I'm always asking him stuff, you know.
01:08I know when you guys leave here tomorrow night, I know you said that's something else important, but when you
01:13go back home and you start practicing again, do you have a list of things for yourself that you picked
01:18up over camp that you want to work on and continue to work on?
01:21Do you have a priority list?
01:22Yeah, when we get back, camp still going to be going.
01:26So, you know, it's always, every day I come out here, there's always something I'm looking to get better at,
01:30you know.
01:30As you watch the film, there's always something to pick up on to get better at and correct the next
01:34day.
01:34So, yeah, that's a day in, day out thing.
01:37Every day I'm looking to get, you know, 1% better at something, you know.
01:40Can you give us an example, like today, yesterday, like what was one thing you were like, I need to
01:45get better at this, and then that day you went out and did it?
01:47Um, I think last practice, I wasn't really getting downhill in a run, and today, you know, that's what I
01:55was looking forward to doing.
01:57So, yeah.
01:58Have you ever been in a practice this long, this much hitting, just this live period for, what, an hour
02:03and a half street?
02:05Yeah.
02:06Like I said, at O-State, it's, you know, it's amped up just like this, you know, if not a
02:10little bit more sometimes, you know.
02:11So, yeah, O-State, yeah, we got out there too, so, yeah.
02:15But, I mean, obviously, one of the things they said is you and you made together the length, right, a
02:20lot of you, the tip passes, and so.
02:21How much do you guys talk about that, using your length, and cutting off maybe the passing that to the
02:27second level, and getting your hands on something?
02:29How do you think it's done with it?
02:31We don't really too much talk about that.
02:33You know, that's not, that's not really, that's not really what we kind of talk about.
02:37It's more so our jobs, and, you know, you know, we don't really talk about our length, but I think
02:42it helped, you know.
02:43It's a God-given ability.
02:44I think it helped for sure, but, like I said, I think it's just the wanting to do it, you
02:48know.
02:48Like I said, wanting to get down here, wanting to make plays, wanting to run sideline to sideline.
02:52I don't really think it's got too much to do with length, but I think the length helped for sure.
02:56That's for sure.
02:57I know you're not really watching on the field because you do your job, and when you guys go back
03:01and start breaking down the field, what do you think of what you can see from that rule?
03:05From Abdua?
03:06Oh, man, yeah, I like Abdua, man.
03:09I like Abdua.
03:09Abdua twitchy.
03:11Abdua actually great in the run, too.
03:13I ain't really too much know that, but Abdua great in the run.
03:16He, you know, he stick his face in there when it's time.
03:18I feel like he got a motor.
03:20He's gritty.
03:20So, yeah, Abdua, good dude.
03:22Sure.
03:22What did you get from today to the one-on-one reps against the major, and I think also from
03:26May just going against those guys in that setting?
03:30So, what do I get from it?
03:31Yeah.
03:33I think them dudes a lot.
03:34I think it's a lot different from college dudes.
03:37It's a huge difference, you know.
03:39Andrew, Jermaine, they solid dudes.
03:42They solid dudes.
03:43They're a lot stronger, a lot more disciplined, but, you know, just getting better with them, you know.
03:48Take a couple more.
03:49What's the key for you when you're in that spot, in that position?
03:52What do you try to accomplish?
03:53Getting low, keeping their hands up for you?
03:56I try to just step on their toes and get to that point as quick as possible.
04:01Make sure I use my hands, keep my hands active, you know.
04:04Don't just bull, rush them, or give them, you know, the fight that they want, so, you know.
04:08Do you like that in this defense, they give you those opportunities to play on the edge,
04:11even though you're on the weak side a lot?
04:13Yeah, yeah, I love that.
04:14That's what I did.
04:15That's what I did back in the day, so I love that, you know.
04:17I love that.
04:21Can I roll shit?
04:22Can you say back in the day?
04:23Can you say back in the day?
04:24Well, a couple months ago.
