00:00I am very hesitant of change.
00:03This is something so out of my comfort zone.
00:06But at the same time, I'm pretty excited because I feel it's the one thing in my life I can
00:11actually control right now.
00:13I'm Shannon, and today I'm getting a dramatic cut and blonde balayage.
00:17But before you see my transformation, subscribe below.
00:21I've got a lot of hair, I know.
00:23The last time I cut my hair was about a year ago.
00:26I'm pretty bad at keeping up with regular haircuts, and I've been pretty busy work-wise.
00:31And then COVID happened, and I have not had a chance to get to the salon until now.
00:37The last time I had my hair short, I was a little kid.
00:41Growing up, my hair always grew pretty slowly.
00:44So once I achieved the length that I was looking for, I decided to keep it that way for the
00:50past 10 years.
00:52In high school, I tried to be a little adventurous and dye it blonde, but that didn't last very
00:57long.
00:59My biggest concern with the length is that it still needs to be able to go into a bun
01:02on the top of my head.
01:04I am an orthopedic surgical PA, and it needs to be in a bun for the operating room multiple
01:08times a week.
01:09Today, I'm at Spoken Wheel Flat Iron.
01:11Hi Shannon, how are you today?
01:12Good, how are you?
01:13Hi, I'm Alexandria Hires.
01:15I'm a color specialist at Spoken Wheel Flat Iron.
01:17Today, we'll be doing a balayage on Shanae, which provides dimension at the top into more
01:22so of a solid blonde around her face.
01:25Hi, I'm Akeem, and I'll actually be doing a cut.
01:27Hi, my name is Akeem, and I work at Spoken Wheel Flat Iron.
01:30I'm a hair cutter and a hair extension specialist.
01:33Do you like more so dimension starting at the root, or more so like a little grown out look?
01:38A little bit grown out.
01:39Nice.
01:39And for your cut, what exactly are you thinking about doing?
01:42Something dramatic, but that it can still go into a bun, so probably about here.
01:45Okay.
01:46And are you wanting to add any face framing into your hair?
01:49Sure.
01:50Whatever you think looks good.
01:51Okay.
01:52I have a big fear of short hair.
01:54I think that I have a pretty round face, and I always felt that the shorter my hair was,
01:59the rounder my face would look.
02:00I am most excited about the big transformation, and I am most nervous that it won't fit into
02:04a bun.
02:06Being in the medical field during the pandemic has left me with little time for self-care,
02:12hair, so I am super excited about getting a much needed haircut and trying something
02:16different.
02:17I think it will be really refreshing.
02:19How are you feeling?
02:20Okay.
02:26Feels so much lighter.
02:28Cool.
02:29So she is going to take over from here, and then I will go back in and tweak everything
02:32and finish makeup for you.
02:33You got it.
02:40One of the main reasons why I went to PA school was to be able to still help others and
02:47be
02:47in the medical field while achieving an ideal work-life balance, which I definitely did have
02:53pre-COVID.
02:55I wanted to go with a balayage because I feel it's one of the lower maintenance color changes
03:01that you can do.
03:30I got an idea.
03:32Have a great day.
03:47I'm going to add a little face framing around her face and also add soft textured pieces
03:51to add movement into her hair.
03:55In terms of the length, I was inspired by my sister.
03:59She used to have very long hair, even longer than mine, and a couple of years ago she cut
04:06it to a shorter length and she just pulls it off so well.
04:09I'm hoping that I can do the same.
04:20All right, Shannon, I love it, thank you so much.
04:27I've never had my hair this short and it's very different from anything I've ever had
04:31before.
04:32I like it a lot.
04:36I feel very refreshed after not having a haircut for over a year and I'm excited that I can
04:41still fit into a bun when I go back into the operating room.
04:46Thank you so much for watching my hair transformation.
