At least seven police officers of a specialised unit in the Port of Spain division were quizzed by officers of the Professional Standards Bureau(PSB) following an exercise that took place at the Belmont Police Station and the homes of at least two police officers yesterday. A corporal is also being sought by the police for questioning.

00:00Officers of the Professional Standards Bureau swooped down on the Belmont Police Station on Monday
00:05seizing several items and initially detaining at least seven officers attached to a specialized unit
00:10before they released pending further inquiries into the matter.
00:13Police sources familiar with the operation told TV6 News that the station was locked down
00:18and the office of the unit was searched for items of evidential value including cash, firearms, arms and ammunition.
00:25Sources said that a quantity of narcotics, several pistols and an Uzi were found at a police station
00:31and initial searches of two of the police officers' homes.
00:34Police sources said that they were trying to ascertain the origin of the items found,
00:38whether they are exhibits from ongoing court matters that were never lodged
00:42or items found or exhibits from completed court matters that were never submitted to the property keeper.
00:48Sources said that a corporal yet to be arrested has in the past been fingered
00:52in an alleged assault of a woman police officer
00:55and was transferred from a police station in a northern division
00:57following the drug susu fiasco several years ago.
