00:00My mother was called over to visit with him.
00:03He lured her over, and I say lured because he asked her to come over to bring me so that
00:09he can give me Christmas present.
00:10While there, they got into an argument where, as I've read in the police reports in the last three years,
00:16that it started to get really heated.
00:18And so his sister left the house, who was also there, to go look for help.
00:22While she was gone, they continued arguing.
00:24At some point, he then struck her and then hit her numerous times.
00:30And then pulled a bookshelf on her.
00:31And then he tried to flee.
00:33But not only did he try to flee the scene, he tried to flee the scene with me.
00:36And what stopped him was his sister.
00:39And probably saved my life.
00:41We'll never truly know, but she was able to get me away from him.
00:45He ended up stealing my mother's car.
00:46When I was growing up, my grandparents, who ended up raising me, they always told me what happened in the
00:53little pieces.
00:53What I learned recently, in my older age, in my 30s, was that one of the things I think, in
01:00the way that it was not handled well, is when they took me to my grandparents, they never changed my
01:06clothes.
01:06So they took a child and handed them to her parents.
01:12That is a whole trauma cycle, a whole situation.
01:16That is a whole situation.
01:17That is a whole situation.
01:17That is a whole situation.
01:17That is a whole situation.
