00:07thousands of them, including some who still have not been able to speak about what happened
00:12to them to this day. And I hope that this statement, this apology, perhaps gives some
00:18of them the confidence to speak about what happened to them, because it will help in
00:24a small way. But I say this, the shame is not yours. The shame was never yours. The
00:35shame is ours. And I say that on behalf of the whole country. I say it to every
00:44single person impacted. We are deeply and profoundly sorry. To the mothers who were
00:53told they were unfit, who were prevented from caring for the children they
00:57desperately wanted to help and to keep, and who've carried this loss for decades.
