00:00We're exceptionally proud of our students, they've worked incredibly hard, they've achieved
00:04some exceptional results this year, we're really really pleased and that's really reflected
00:09in how happy students are opening the envelopes, finding out where their destinations are and
00:14even those students who've maybe not got exactly what they wanted, the support we've offered
00:19means they've pretty much left happy here today.
00:22It's always a fantastic atmosphere, A Level Results Day and it's lovely to come in and
00:29see the students celebrating their results and hearing about where they're going to go
00:33next, there's a real range of places that students are going to so that's fantastic to hear that.
00:39I've got three A stars and an A, so yeah quite pleased.
00:44It's quite nerve-wracking actually because we waited so long for these but it's just nice
00:47to have like finally have them in my hand, just feel so relieved and really excited to go to uni
00:53actually yeah.
00:54I'll be going to the uni of Leeds studying philosophy and politics and then I'll probably end up doing a
00:58law conversion course as well.
01:00I got what I needed to get my apprenticeship so I'll be starting with the National Grid in September
01:05doing a HNC in Electrical Systems Engineering with Loughborough.
01:09I got a distinction star in Engineering, A in EPQ, B in Sociology and C in Maths and the only
01:14thing
01:14I was worried about was Maths because I thought that was quite difficult for me personally but
01:19I had great teachers especially in Maths with Mr Harrison and Engineering Mr Dillon and
01:25Sociology and Ms Gatenby all fantastic. It's always lovely they open their envelopes either
01:30in front of people or discreetly somewhere else and then come and find the teachers to to say thank
01:36you they're very good at doing that to express their their gratitude for the hours we've put in
01:39but we can then obviously point out the fact they've done the bulk of the work the line shares down
01:44to
01:44them and their efforts. See people that have gone on a journey particularly who've been borderline to get
01:49we want to get to and weren't sure if they're going to get the grades they needed to see them
01:53put all
01:53the hard work in and to be able to work with them some cases one-to-one intervention groups supporting
02:00classroom we do a lot of that here to try and make sure that students have the best chance to
02:05get
02:05the grades they need to to get to the next destination and achieve ultimately their their plans their
02:11goals their dreams even of things they thought might be possible suddenly become possible.
02:16It's a good year to find a place through clearing universities are offering lower grades than
02:25they initially did and ultimately you might not have thought of some of the options that are available
02:32to you and it is never as bad as you first think it is but talk to your school. And
02:37I think that's the
02:38thing and not everybody has to go to university there's a fantastic range of apprenticeships and all
02:44sorts of things out there I think that's been a real change that I've noticed over the last decade or
02:49so
02:49that not everybody will go to university some of our students have secured absolutely fantastic
02:55internships with really high-profile employers.
