00:02Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak objected about 80% of the 168-page witness statement of former 1MDB
00:10Chief Executive Officer Datuk Shahrol Azrael Ibrahim Halmi on the grounds of hearsay.
00:161MDB's council informed the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday that the objection was raised after the parties were served
00:22with a table of objections concerning Shahrol Azrael's witness statement.
00:26They said they would now need time to study the matter and added that Shahrol Azrael was ready to give
00:32testimony starting from Thursday.
00:34The court then allowed the request, with the trial involving Najib, who is the first defendant in 1MDB's $5.64
00:41billion US dollar civil suit against him and six others, to continue on Thursday.
00:45Earlier on Wednesday, offshore asset recovery specialist Angela Barkhaus, who is the third plaintiff witness, was released from the witness
00:53stand after completing her testimony, which began on Monday.
00:571MDB and four of its subsidiaries filed the civil suit against the seven defendants in May 2021.
01:04They include Najib, 1MDB's former finance director Terenske, former executive director Casey Tang, and former chief investment officer Nick Faisal
01:13Arif Kamil.
01:14The Writ of Summon stated that the plaintiffs, among other things, accused the defendants of breach of trust, breach of
01:20statutory duty, abuse of power, and conspiracy to misappropriate 1MDB funds.
