00:00Look out for scattered storms to continue to pop into parts of northern Tennessee.
00:03These are slow movers in areas around the Cumberland Plateau, north of Cookville.
00:08Some of the most disruptive storms in the country today have been down here in southern parts of Missouri.
00:14A lot of wind reports. We had a 58-mile-per-hour gust at the Springfield Airport.
00:19There's Halltown in far eastern parts of Lawrence County, large tree down.
00:25Other reports here at the Springfield Airport, a 58-mile-per-hour gust measured.
00:30And as we take you into some other reports recently here, Ava, Missouri, in Douglas County, a large tree down.
00:36We've had some hail out there into West Plains.
00:39Some of these hail reports have been big.
00:40Ping-pong ball-sized hail, much 1.5-inch diameter hail there in areas around West Plains.
00:45So we've had some big storms for some.
00:47That West Plains storm has really given up,
00:50but the storms to the west are still fairly aggressive in making a push through the Ozark Plateau.
00:55We also have some thunderstorms moving through the area near Cedar Point right now,
00:58a little south of there, into eastern Erie County
01:01and northwestern Huron County of Ohio, near Norwalk, Ohio.
01:05And we'll be keeping a close eye out for some of them.
01:07Elsewhere, looking at the visible satellite, you can see a beautiful day up there into Minneapolis.
01:12And we have had some smoky, hazy skies for some.
01:15You can see the signature of some of that smoke in the atmosphere as we look into the northwest.
01:20And you can see the source of some of these plumes of smoke.
01:24There's just so many areas here across the west with some significant wildfire activity,
01:27and that smoke is being driven eastward by some of that flow.
01:32So some of that grayish color there is more smoke than anything else.
01:36So that's impacting some of the skies across the north-central U.S. right now.
01:39Now, the severe threat, though, is going to be most significant down into parts of southern Missouri.
01:45And that's where we have some storms pushing southward near the Arkansas line.
01:49Damaging wind, hail, flash flooding, all concerns here.
01:52And as we, again, we're looking at some storms tomorrow in Des Moines and Kansas City, Minneapolis.
01:59Some of these storms are going to be pretty noisy tomorrow.
02:01And beyond the current round, this evening and tonight, with wind and hail in southern Kansas, southern Missouri, northern Arkansas.
02:09We're moving forward now with storms into the Ohio Valley.
02:12So, Cincinnati, you're going to get ready for some more thunderstorms tomorrow.
02:15I know it's nice now, but look out on Friday.
02:18And another disturbance will be pivoting through the northern plains, entering the upper Midwest on Friday afternoon and night.
02:24So that puts Iowa, southeast Minnesota, a big chunk of central and northern Wisconsin, and the upper peninsula of Michigan
02:31into that severe thunderstorm risk area with wind and hail, our biggest issues.
02:36We're going to combine the northeast and the Midwest with our future radar and clouds because both of these areas
02:42will be hot spots for activity.
02:43Tomorrow, a lot of widespread thunderstorm activity will be moving through the northeast.
02:47I'm concerned about flash flooding in south Jersey around 7 p.m. Eastern.
02:51Here's 6 Central, and we'll also have those organized thunderstorms from Iowa into northern Wisconsin.
02:57Some of them will be severe, so look out out there.
03:00Saturday, more storms in the Ohio Valley pushing into the interior northeast, up into New England.
03:04And another round fires across Nebraska.
03:07Keep your eye out for this.
03:08I'm going to take you into a map in a little bit, about a minute from now.
03:11I'm going to show you a severe risk map for Saturday that shows the impact of these storms in Nebraska
03:16and into northwest Missouri.
03:18It's a small feature on the map, but it will be impactful.
03:20And then on Sunday, more storms will fire off into other parts of the plain.
03:24So here's that Saturday zone here.
03:27Nebraska during the day, and those storms will be pushing then into northwestern parts of Missouri.
03:32Here we have Nebraska into northwest Missouri and into Iowa.
03:35Some of these storms on Saturday evening and night will be severe with wind, hail, and flash flooding.
03:41Wind and flooding are the main concerns here with this setup.
03:45And then on Sunday, more thunderstorms return to Chicago.
03:48Chicago is going to be a hot spot for activity here.
03:51And our forecast feed has been looking at some of this repetitively stormy weather Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, into this part
03:58of the country.
03:59Some of you could see several inches of rain, a few, three, four, five inches of rain between Wisconsin and
04:04West Virginia, perhaps, over about a four-day window.
04:07Details are tricky, though.
04:08It all comes down to specifically where these storms track.
04:10Right now, some of you are a little cooler, thanks to the recent thunderstorms.
04:14In fact, in areas like St. Louis, you're at 71, which is great, pretty comfortable.
04:19But into the east we go, 90 degrees in Richmond, Virginia.
