00:00A cooler night in rural areas this evening but it will be a little bit warmer by this weekend as
00:05we start to pick up southerly winds.
00:07For the time being though, high pressure dominating for much of the UK.
00:11Starting to see some wet weather though pushing to more northwestern areas of Scotland, the northern and western islands as
00:17well as the Highlands seeing the heaviest rainfall through the next 48 hours or so.
00:22Elsewhere, a dry and clear night to come. The winds will ease as well. We could see some mist and
00:27fog developing by the morning.
00:29And rurally, temperatures will be down as low as 3 or 4 degrees but many towns and cities higher than
00:34that of course.
00:35And the sun does get up pretty early so it will be quite warm by the time you wake up
00:39but still a risk of a rural grass frost for some areas.
00:43Wet weather will persist through much of Friday across the very far north and west.
00:48Near gale force winds as well will accompany this very heavy rain so a fairly unpleasant day for more northwestern
00:54areas.
00:54Elsewhere, a very different story. Plenty of strong sunshine through the day.
00:58It will turn a little bit hazier across more southern areas as we start to pick up these southerly winds.
01:03But for most of us, it's going to be warmer than today actually with temperatures climbing towards the mid-20s
01:08in the south and east.
01:0925 degrees is likely across the London area.
01:12Elsewhere across England and Wales, the low 20s.
01:15And further north across more eastern areas of Scotland, we could see the low 20s too.
01:19So quite a pleasant day in the sunshine indeed. A little bit warmer than today.
01:24But it's going to get hotter into this weekend.
01:26Before then though, a cool evening to come Friday evening and into the start of Saturday.
01:32That's away from the very far north and west where this cloud and rain will persist.
01:36We'll actually see more rain push up from the south and west, likely moving into parts of Northern Ireland.
01:42And that's going to pep up the rainfall a little bit.
01:44So the rain will likely turn heavier across the north and west.
01:48Clear and dry though elsewhere across the rest of the UK.
01:51And again, rurally down into those low single figures to start Saturday.
01:56But it's going to warm up pretty quickly on Saturday for many of us.
02:00With these southerly winds pulling in some slightly warmer air.
02:03So that will allow temperatures to climb.
02:05Plenty of sunshine as well.
02:08Once again, turning a little bit hazier into the afternoon further south.
02:12But it's still going to feel pretty bright and quite warm.
02:15Temperatures climbing towards the high 20s across more southern areas.
02:18Quite widely actually across England and Wales.
02:20We're in the mid to high 20s.
02:22So it's going to be feeling quite warm for most of us.
02:25Further north where we see this cloud and rain.
02:27Well, temperatures unsurprisingly a little bit lower in the mid to high teens.
02:31Very similar to what we've seen through a lot of this week actually.
02:34With the wet weather being focused in the north west.
02:37Drier weather further south and east.
02:40Now this rain could move a little bit further south through Saturday evening.
02:45And into Sunday.
02:46There's some uncertainty in the details of that.
02:48And where we remain ahead of this weather front into Sunday.
02:51It could be another quite hot day.
02:53To the north and west of it though.
02:55A little bit cooler.
