00:00Definitely, we've watched it, we've put it in the past, we've learned from it, and we've been in the playoffs
00:04a lot of times in the last however many years I've been here now and, you know, just continuing to
00:09find ways to learn from it. And I think that's, it's a hard pill to swallow sometimes because we haven't
00:13gotten it done, but you knock enough at the door, it's going to open at some point. And that's just
00:16a, what we have to keep doing is keep knocking on that door and giving ourselves chances to be in
00:21that situation again.
00:23Josh Allen with Kevin Clark. I mean, a lot of that typically is just, it's what you say. How much
00:33learning is there to do really though? What is, what is left to be learned?
00:41Yeah, it's not like, um, I mean, you know, you should try to hang on to the ball, right? Like
00:49that shouldn't have been needed to be a new lesson. That's not, that shouldn't need to be reinforced. I don't
00:54think whether that's Allen himself, you know, running around before the end of the half or Brandon Cook's not securing
01:02the catch well enough to have it ripped from his arms and turned into an interception. And, you know, the
01:07hook had a fumble in that game, didn't he?
01:09Um, big hit. Yeah. Yeah. There were five turnovers and four of them were like Allen, you know, produced. Uh,
01:18there was two fumbles lost, two interceptions and cook had a fumble. Right. Also. But yeah, like that's not something
01:24that you need to learn. Um, you know, the same thing with, you know, I said, cook securing the catch.
01:29So I, you know, I don't know, but yeah, there's not there. What else do you say? Yeah. I mean,
01:34I'm eternally frustrated and I can't get over it.
01:36Um, I wouldn't be able to, I wouldn't, I don't live my life like that. I mean, so in certainly
01:43a pro athlete shouldn't and can't. So it's onto the next thing. And like, yeah, I'm going to, I'm going
01:49to, we're going to try to get it right. Next time we'll, we'll be in the position hopefully to get
01:54it right. And hopefully we do. And some new calamity doesn't arise.
02:01Yeah. It's really the best I can do. And this, I've said this many times, it makes it tough for
02:07me to really figure out what the bills should do about their roster in the off season. We always talk
02:16about wide receiver. There's always that, but they do have a great running game and they have built around it.
02:22And so, you know, here they've traded for a wide receiver. We'll see how much value he carries DJ more,
02:28uh, in the upcoming season.
02:29But what makes it tough for me is I just feel like what the only thing that's left is for
02:36them to execute in those big spots. And Alan has taken his turn. I think flubbing those moments. You had
02:45the Kincaid quote drop in Kansas city. You have this cook's play last year. I mean, any other plays you
02:52want to single out, it's not like it's ever been one guy, but you know, it's just to say that
02:56Alan is not immune from this. He's not removed from this.
02:59It's just that all I can come up with for what to make the difference this year is in those.
03:08And this is coaching too. In those moments, can the bills be the team that figures out what the move
03:15is, what the play call is, or just like, can they avoid the mistake?
03:19Like, I mean, ideally you get into leads and you're in position where it doesn't come down to these last
03:24minute moments, but really like, so what do you do to your roster? And really, this is kind of in
03:30beans defense. Like, what do you do to your roster?
03:33To set yourself better up for the end of the Denver game, the end of these chief games. I don't
03:38know. I mean, the more good players, the better. Uh, again, like if you're running away from these teams in
03:46the playoffs, you have nothing to worry about in the pressure moments, but I just kind of think it just
03:51has to happen.
03:53I think of the play, the Kincaid play in Kansas city is a big one two years ago because it
04:00was after a timeout and here were the bills season on the line.
04:04And they saw a look from Kansas city that I think maybe blew their minds. Like it just was not
04:11that overload on Allen's right.
04:14Well, I think they, yeah, they saw a look that they, I don't know that it blew their minds. I
04:18think what Kansas city did off it is what blew their mind.
04:20Okay. Right. I think they thought, Oh, we've seen this all day. We know what this is going to be.
04:26And then they did something else.
04:27They blitzed everybody. And from the other side, they thought it was going to be a blitz from over here.
04:32And it turned out from, and that just threw everything off. Yeah. You know, there's one thing, there's one example,
04:39maybe as good as any 13 seconds is its own animal, but just, you know, having it in those moments.
04:46And I don't know, here's Alan talking about learning from their losses. Talk to me, like, tell me what the
04:53lesson is.
04:54I think all you can really learn is how to be resilient. Like that, that's, that's, I think that's all
05:00you can learn.
05:01You learn that you have to keep going and that you have no choice, but, but to keep knocking on
05:07the door, that is resiliency.
05:09And that's the only thing I think you can really learn. Cause again, they should not, someone pulling a rabbit
05:17out of a hat and doing, you know, this, when you thought they were going to do that, that's going
05:22to happen in football.
05:23And I don't, you know, who's the blame for that? You know, like should they were coming out of the
05:29timeout, you call it, you can't call another timeout there.
05:33If the bills had already called the timeout, I don't remember the order of things, but anyway, it's like you,
05:38you, they did, they swerved when you thought they were going to, you know, do something, go straight.
05:46And you, you know, you, you scrambled around and try to make the best of it and chucked up a
05:50prayer and your guy couldn't come down with it.
05:53Yeah. I don't know what you learned from that other than I, I, I, hopefully that goes better next time.
06:00Like I want to, nothing that has happened so far makes me not want to be in this spot again.
06:07That's resiliency. And that's all you can really take from it. Cause I don't, I don't think there's, yeah, there's
06:13not a lesson in, I mean, the bills, that's what makes the Denver loss.
06:18I mean, it was only the second, you know, playoff round. So it's not like they were all set or
06:22anything, but they would have made the AFC title game.
06:25Um, if cooks comes down with that ball and like, it's not a perfect throw, but it's good enough. I
06:32mean, it cooks has got his, it's, it's overtime and you've got your man beat and the ball is there
06:38and it's right.
06:39He cradles it. It's right in his arms. You know, he had to slow down and the defender caught up
06:44and that caused the conflict as they went to the ground.
06:47Um, but still it's a well enough thrown ball. It's a, it's a completed catch.
06:53Not easily, but like it's only would have been a great catch by cooks. It was right there.
06:59And you just, you're so close. Like you were watching that play.
07:06What, what just happened? He, he had it. Why doesn't he have it anymore? Why does their guy have it?
07:13Um, so yeah, I, I, I don't really have a lot of time for learning from that.
07:19No, it's just what you say. I mean, what's the, a follow-up, follow-up questions. I think in these
07:24sort of situations seem very rude.
07:26You're not really going to ask me to explain this, are you?
07:29Specifically, what did you learn?
07:30I'll sit here and take your questions, but I'm not, I'm not listening to any sort of, you know, follow
07:35-up questions.
07:36I mean, come on, just, you know, let's go to the next thing.
07:38Cross-examination. Here comes the other lawyer. What did you mean when you said?
07:44Give me an example.
07:45No.
07:46I like what you said. I think that it should mostly come naturally.
07:52All right. And this is what you're hearing from everybody around you, probably, is like new season.
07:58Nothing.
07:59Right.
07:59Brady has said these kinds of things already. Like we haven't won anything yet.
08:03Right.
08:04There's nothing, zero and zero. Like everything in the past is kind of meaningless.
08:09Um, and so that would be the messaging. And so I think most players would take to that pretty easily.
08:17Maybe it's not as easy when you get into the playoffs and then you're being reminded of all your losses.
08:23Like with each ensuing year, that gets louder. And now the bills will go, if they make the playoffs, which,
08:31you know, we think they should.
08:32Now they'll go in for the eighth year in a row.
08:36And in each of the previous seven, well, each of the previous six, they've won a game.
08:41The seventh year ago was the Houston year when they lost in the wild card.
08:44But six years in a row, they've won a game. Like they've hung around in the playoffs. And a couple
08:49of those years, they won too.
08:51So lots of experience at it, you know, shouldn't that be good?
08:56Don't you want experience? Don't we tend to think that teams without experience are just sort of destined to lose?
09:02They don't know what to do when they get there.
09:04You know, like Seattle last year.
09:07Right. They couldn't figure it out.
09:08How would they know how to have played in the playoffs?
09:11What were they doing?
09:13Let me check my notes.
09:15Right.
09:15The Chiefs had a lightning interruption today at their practice.
09:19Oh, yeah?
09:19It was short, I guess, but they left and then went back out there.
