00:08There's no question he's been in charge since I think it was September of 2023.

00:17But he's been around for a few years.
00:19His first draft was a Clark McGonigal draft.
00:22Yeah, which I think was the 23 draft.

00:26I think it's when he got the job.

00:30So he's gotten some talent out of draft.
00:33He got a good young player in Howie Lee in a trade.
00:35Is it 2022 is when he was hired?
00:39But he said it himself, and you heard him say it, didn't build enough depth.
00:49It's been a disappointing season.
00:51I mean, there's no sugarcoating it.
00:53No one do we want to.
00:54It is what it is.
00:56But, you know, he got a pretty decent return.

01:03What were the stats about all the players traded at the trade deadline?
01:07So of the MLB pipeline top 100 players, prospects in baseball, there were only five in the top 100 that
01:16were dealt.
01:17The highest rated of those dealt was Ayer Hope.
01:22And the fifth highest rated was River Ryan.
01:25And if you look at the rest of the players, this is according to the MLB pipeline, but you could
01:31see that the Tigers did actually quite well with the return.
01:35Um, because, uh, not only was River Ryan there, um, but you also had, uh, Mayfield cash Mayfield, who was
01:46the number nine prospect dealt.
01:49And then you go down to number 14 dealt was Brady Smith.
01:53So they got four of the top 14 prospects that were dealt.
01:56Now they were dealing, they were dealing from a hand, a strong hand.
01:59So they should have, they got what they should have.
02:01Now with that said, though, it's still a disappointing season.

02:54Maybe Scott Harris has drafted well, but what has he done to help the Tigers roster in the
02:59last two seasons?
03:00Last year, the Tigers needed a bat and bullpen help.
03:03I can't remember the names, but they ended up being terrible during the off season.
03:06He didn't get a bat.
03:07Well, Kyle Finnegan was good for this team last year.
03:10He really was.
03:11He was very important down the stretch this year.
03:14He's been mostly good, but it's, it's the recency bias.
03:17His last like three out of four outings has been horrific and he's been bad lately.

03:23Um, just brutal, which is unfortunate.
03:25And, and, and Kenley Jansen had a stretch where he was awful.
03:28Um, but maybe he's starting to get some of it back.
03:31Um, it'd be nice if he did to help close out some of these games.
03:35But I mean, there's a lot of, there's a lot of PTSD from that, that last scoobal start that
03:41we saw.
03:42He comes out of the game, six and two thirds innings, giving up just the one run, couldn't
03:46get out of the inning.
03:47They take them out.
03:48And then the bullpen falters and the Tigers end up losing the game and extra innings with
03:52a seven, nothing lead going in the seventh inning.
03:55Um, that P that PTSD is real.
03:59And we know that this bullpen is flawed and now the rotation is compromised after the
04:05trades.
04:05But I mean, that was, that's, that's the moment that the white flag came up from Scott
04:10Harris was what happened in a Baltimore series.
04:13And as far as what he's done to help the club, I mean, he is responsible for bringing
04:17in Gleyber Torres, who's helped them win a lot of games.
04:19Gleyber Torres has been an excellent pickup and I'm stunned that he wasn't traded yesterday.
04:23But if I were to go with his strength and what is strengths and weaknesses, I mean,
04:29now, you know, this, I'm not sure how this Frambois Valdez contract is going to work out
04:33and the bullpen arms he brought in this year has not worked out.
04:37There's, there's plus and minus.
04:38Yeah.
04:38Free agent pitching signings.
04:41That's a three pronger.
04:42That's an E for what he's done since he's taken over as a, as GM or Pobo of this team,
04:49president of baseball operations.
04:51It's not only is it's, it's not as strong as it.
04:53It's his Achilles heel.
04:55There have been very few wins with the free agent pitchers that he's brought in, whether
04:59it's a bullpen or a starting pitcher.
05:02But on the other side of that, it seems like it's a, it's a sparkling a, when it comes to
05:09drafting and finding young talent.
05:11Mike writes in people are only focused on the past few days.
05:15Time will tell whether those are good moves or not.
05:17People forget that Harris drafted McGonigal and Clark.
05:20I don't think they forget that from Wookalar.
05:24If I have to make a decision, I'd say, no, he can stay as a draft development guy.
05:30Get someone else to make big league decisions.

05:37Hopefully the Dodgers failed a three-peat.

05:40The Red Ranger says, I mean, we had no choice but to trade Scoobla Mize.
05:43He got us a couple of good lottery tickets for the future.
05:45So we'll wait and see on that.
05:47I'm more upset that the fact that we're two and a half back from the final wire card spot
05:51and he didn't do anything to help this year's team.
05:53He addressed it and we'll probably get into it.
05:55But he addressed it and said, look, the price for bullpen arms, what people wanted for bullpen arms was too

06:01and what we could afford.
06:02They weren't really that good.
06:04Well, last year the prices were extraordinary.
06:07This year there were a couple arms that went that I thought the Tigers could have gone after.
06:13I went back and forth with some people on Twitter last night and identified a couple of those pitchers.
06:19And the cost was, I don't know if it was high.
06:22I mean, there was definitely a cost, but that's the cost of doing business if you wanted to improve your
06:26team.
06:27And the guys that I was looking for were going to be guys you have under team control for years,
06:31not rentals.
06:33And both of the players I looked at were, I think, free agents after 2030 and 31.
06:41So they would have had years to work with them.
06:43Gustin says, the guy hasn't brought in players to win at all.
06:46His MLB pitching acquisitions have been a disaster, and that's putting it nicely.
06:50He did nothing at the trade deadline to help the big club.
06:53How is nobody sick of constantly punting to the future?

07:25Yeah, I get caught up in this, and I agree with you, because the move that everybody was probably the
07:30most popular, if I think back, was getting Bo Bichette, who's had mixed results.

07:38We had mixed results with the Mets.
07:39I don't know how it would be going here.
07:43But that's a huge financial commitment to a player who may or may not be worth it.
07:48It might be the same way with Framberg, but it's also not the fans' job to know.
07:56I can see why fans get frustrated.
07:58But was there a move of the trade deadline that they should have made to make this team better right

08:03Well, they could have gone all in.
08:05They could have depleted their system.

08:10I mean, we've been doing this show for a long, prior to this trade deadline, for weeks, and I don't
08:16remember hearing too many names people brought up offensively.
08:20They said, got to get this guy, got to get that guy.
08:22There was the outfielder from Baltimore, maybe?
08:25Well, if it were me, I would have gone after the Doval or Weaver or one of those relievers, one
08:31of those bullpen arms that was moved.
08:33That would have been my number one move, more so than a bat.
08:38More fans, I think, complain about bats.
08:41I think this team, the biggest thing that undermined it was his bullpen, and that's the move I would have
08:46made.
