00:00Every dish has a story from the ingredients, where they come from, what they represent, why we started eating them.
00:06We get to interview everyone from different walks of life and that humanity plays a central role in our content
00:12and in the stories that we try to tell.
00:41I think Kalinga would be the one province that really opened my eyes into the possibility of our ingredients, as
00:48long as you become stewards of the land.
00:51And it's not an easy place to live, not an easy place to grow things, yet there's such a deep
00:57appreciation for agriculture and ingredients there.
01:00And then the ways that they use them in Filipino dishes that most Filipinos would not know as Filipino was
01:08very eye-opening.
01:09So every time I go to the mountainous regions, specifically around the Sierra Madre, Kalinga remains one of my favorite
01:16memories of Filipino food.
01:24I think food is storytelling and I think every dish has a story from the ingredients, where they come from,
01:33what they represent, why we started eating them.
01:36There's a term that I like to use now, it's called foodways, and it basically just understands how a dish
01:41became what it became and why did the people who started making them started eating them.
01:46Through food, you can really understand about where someone lives, you can understand about cultural norms and values, and you
01:53can understand about how people bring their culture forward through the dishes that they decide to cook for their families,
01:59for their kids and everything, and what you keep bringing forward with you.
02:02So I think storytelling is such an important part of food culture in general.
02:13At Feature, we're blessed with such a young, dynamic, and passionate team.
02:20Everything that you see that we put out on our channels are done by this group of amazing individuals.
02:25And the most important part, specifically with AI, with fragmented audiences and all that, is really just coming down always
02:35to the humanity of it.
02:37We're lucky that in our work, we always meet different people, we get to interview everyone from different walks of
02:43life, and that humanity plays a central role in our content and in the stories that we try to tell.
02:55Being one of the voices for Oling Soong, I think, is a huge honor, obviously.
03:01I don't know why, but I still feel like really young in the industry, but I'm getting older.
03:06And so it's just kind of to see that our work is recognized and that the value and the impact
03:15that we're trying to drive is being seen by people outside of our circles is really great.
03:20It's really easy nowadays to get stuck in your own algorithm and just keep seeing the things that you want
03:26to see.
03:26So to have this outside recognition shows you that people care and that you're going in the right direction.
