00:05It's not a Netflix drama or series, right?
00:08These are the controversial things that have really impact on our life.
00:39I think it's the knowledge of the responsibility that comes in that position.
00:46So, syempre, pag gini-gisaka or parang ikaw yung spin the spotlight sa isang event or isang interviewer tense moment,
00:54parang meso nawawala yung sense of pina natin.
00:57Parang, you're actually, you feel like I'm representing my company, even my industry.
01:03So, at that moment, kind of the ego melts away and your whole goal is to parang stand up for
01:08your industry the best way you can.
01:10So, a lot of that takes calm, di ba?
01:12Being calm, being on point, being focused on what you want to get and what you want to achieve in
01:19that situation.
01:19So, yun yung out of everything talaga, yun yung napapaground sa akin na I'm in this situation not as myself
01:26as an individual,
01:26but really to represent my industry, my other journalists, even to the pinos.
01:31I mean, that kind of responsibility really does a lot to make you think twice about what you're going to
01:37say,
01:37how you're going to act, how you're going to behave.
01:39So, I'd say yun yung main thing.
01:47At the end of the day, a good storyteller is someone who can bring out the humanity in the story.
01:53So, when we say humanity, it's really to feel, to enable the listener, the viewer, or the reader
01:58to put themselves in the shoes of the person you are covering.
02:01It's really that, parang to bring out parang all of the details of that situation, yung reality ng situation na
02:08yun,
02:08yung consequences sa taon na yun, yung impact dun sa taon na yun.
02:12And even for just a few minutes, make that person reading your work feel that they understand the issue at
02:18hand.
02:18And at the same time, yung next step after yun is to make them feel like they can do something
02:23about it,
02:24like connect it to action.
02:25So, if ito yung problema, ito yung malaking issue na kinakaharapan ng taong ito,
02:29paano ako bilang isang mamamayan, or reader even, or Pilipino, di ba?
02:33Paano ako makatulong, or anong magagawa ko para sa taon na yun?
02:43Philippine politics is so interesting and so exciting.
02:46I mean, we can say a lot that it's very frustrating also.
02:49I mean, journalists really, really get frustrated also about what we cover.
02:53But at the end of the day, it's exciting work.
02:56And we feel that it's also important work because hindi lang siya Netflix drama or series, di ba?
03:01Ito yung mga nangyayari na controversial na meron talagang impact sa buhay natin dun sa day-to-day life natin.
03:08So, yung ganung twin excitement na you're covering something really new, exciting, and kind of crazy at times.
03:14But also because you cover it because people need to know that these things are happening to their government.
03:20And they, as citizens, have to be able to do something about it.
03:23And the first step to doing that is really knowing and understanding what is going on.
03:33We're really honored and thankful because obviously, you know, journalism is not the most glamorous sector to be in, right?
03:40Like, you can see my panelists are like famous, they're artists, they're kind of like in sectors where people gravitate
03:46towards because it's just fun.
03:47Like, these industries and these creative pursuits are just fun.
03:51And journalism, it's not that popular.
03:54And in fact, it's hard to be a journalist, di ba?
03:56Like, narinig natin na marami mga kabataan ngayon ayaw maging journalist or nawawala na mga journalism students sa mga kolehi
04:02or universities.
04:03So, maganda lang na Rolling Stone sees journalism as important and, you know, a voice that should be heard.
04:11And hopefully, a lot of young people also see that this is work worth doing, even if it's difficult.
04:16That there's something about this work that can change our society and the way people think.
04:22And that kind of work deserves recognition and deserves people to support it.
