Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood says questions have been raised about the "security of those in public life" and has offered the leader of Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, a meeting with the government organisation that manages security for politicians. She'll also look into what security guidance could be offered to former MPs.

00:00The Home Office and the Police work closely with the Parliamentary Security Department
00:04to provide practical advice and support directly to MPs.
00:08But we must always be vigilant to changing threats and respond.
00:13Security measures are kept under constant review to ensure MPs can carry out their duties safely.
00:18And I know that the Police intend to issue guidance to MPs soon
00:22and they will be contacting parliamentarians in their constituencies to offer support.
00:27I also recently commissioned the former Lord Chancellor Sir Robert Buckland
00:31to review the lessons from Sir David Amess' murder
00:35including into required improvements to security for MPs working in their constituencies.
00:41I recognise the particular concern that the Reform Party will feel today
00:46and of course Nigel Farage, the party's leader.
00:48I'm happy to offer a meeting for Mr Farage with the Chair of RAVIC,
00:52the independent body within the Home Office that manages the security of those in public life.
00:57And I will also be looking at what security guidance can be provided to former Members of Parliament
