00:00I'd like to pay tribute to Anne Medicombe, who died in tragic, deeply troubling circumstances last week.
00:08Anne was a formidable politician, a prominent figure in public life.
00:13She was a Member of Parliament for Maidstone for 27 years, holding a number of ministerial posts in the 90s.
00:20Anne was fierce and enjoyed robust political debate.
00:24Whether you agree with her or not, she was principled, spoke her mind and was true to her beliefs, which
00:31were informed by a Christian faith.
00:33Anne was a minister when I was doing my politics A-level and she has been a firm part of
00:40our political life for the last three decades.
00:43May she rest in peace.
00:44This may I briefly say what is on the minds of many in this house and pay tribute to Anne
00:49Medicombe, a true public servant.
00:52And I will shortly make a statement about Anne and the ongoing police investigation.
00:57Anne Medicombe was a force of nature and my heart goes out to all her friends and loved ones.
