00:00Hello, lots of sunshine today and indeed for much of this week the weather patterns are only subtly shifting.
00:07We've got high pressure still in control of our weather. This is the view from space.
00:13There is a bit of cloud down across the Bay of Biscay. That is an area of low pressure that's
00:18trying to move north
00:19but the high is holding firm and as these two squeeze together that is allowing a fairly brisk wind
00:27across southern counties of England in particular. So quite windy here.
00:31Now this is the infrared satellite picture which is picking up on cold cloud tops.
00:36So it doesn't really pick up the low cloud which we started the day with over much of central England
00:42actually.
00:42It has been breaking up and melting away and that will continue through the day today.
00:47But with this brisk wind coming down from the northeast we could keep a bit of that low cloud around
00:52some of the coasts of the Haar
00:54and the east coast of Scotland at times. And as the low pressure edges northwards a bit more cloud
00:59spilling in across the channel aisles that might produce one or two showers but most places won't see one of
01:06those.
01:07Generally it is just a sunny afternoon. Quite breezy across the south particularly quite gusty along the south coast
01:14and that breeze coming in from the North Sea certainly keeping the temperatures lower on the east coast.
01:18Not as hot even further west as it has been but somewhere in this zone southeast Wales down to Somerset,
01:25Dorset
01:25we are likely to see temperatures perhaps getting up to 30 Celsius. So that's where the highest temperatures are
01:31when we compare them to average. Much of the west well above average again.
01:35But the east coast in particular around or even a touch below average particularly if that mist and low cloud
01:41does stick
01:41and it'll come back tonight. There is as we go through the evening the chance of a flash of lightning,
01:48a rumble of thunder,
01:49maybe a little bit of rain in these showers but they'll be very hit and miss. Most places won't see
01:54them and it will stay dry.
01:56As we go through the night that low cloud will seep back inland over the Midlands into parts of East
02:01Wales and may produce a little bit of drizzle.
02:04But most places again will stay dry. Long clear spells in the west and actually a relatively cool and certainly
02:10comparatively comfortable night.
02:13Certainly across the north temperatures down to 11 to 13 Celsius, down well into single figures in some rural spots.
02:19Still quite warm across parts of the south. A breeze here will ease further as we go through the night
02:24and the winds tomorrow will be noticeably lighter along the south coast.
02:27Still the possibility of a shower across the far south west through West Cornwall and the Isles are silly but
02:36again most places will stay dry.
02:38We'll start with a mist and low cloud over the Midlands in eastern England. It will break up like today
02:43to reveal plenty of sunshine for the afternoon.
02:45Again though just the chance of some sea frets or har on those eastern coasts sticking around and making it
02:51a little misty.
02:52As I mentioned those winds in the south a bit lighter than today and it will be a hotter day.
02:57Temperatures back up on the rise over the Midlands, southern counties of England, South Wales, high 20s, low 30s, 31,
03:0332 in places.
03:04But again those eastern coasts particularly if it does stay misty will be a little bit cooler.
03:09But generally a lot of sunshine, strong sunshine as well. UV levels are going to be high or very high
03:15for much of this week.
03:17Pollen levels also very high across much of the country this week. Grass pollen levels too.
03:22As we go through the evening time again we will start to see that mist and low cloud just spreading
03:27back inland.
03:27It's going to be a repeat performance just again down to the far south west that zone of cloud that's
03:33the area of low pressure and at times it will just bring the possibility of one or two heavy thundery
03:39showers up from the south.
03:40But the main driving force for our weather through this week. High pressure across the north. A lot of dry
03:46and sunny weather if you have to rain.
03:48It doesn't look like we're going to see much at all through this week.
03:52Stay tuned for more updates of course through this week. The best way to do that if you're watching on
