Health Secretary James Murray says that the government and NHS is looking to improve infrastructure in hospitals so it's better prepared for heatwaves, just as it plans for cold weather in winter. 00:04to make sure it's fit for the future and one of the ways in which we need to be fit

00:08the future is for the fact we're likely to have more heat waves. I think we know how
00:12to respond to winter pressures, that's something the NHS has got used to over many years and
00:17has plans how to step up during those winter pressures whenever they come along. What I
00:22think we need more of is confidence about when we have heat pressures come our way,
00:26how are we going to respond to that? And let me say that NHS staff and leadership across
00:32the country have been doing a fantastic job to maintain services during the heat waves,
00:36but as they're becoming more frequent we need to make sure those plans are as resilient as
00:40possible so that they don't have an impact on service.
