00:00All right, I had mentioned also, Tom, the 2026 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby.
00:06We got a couple of more guys that have signed on.
00:09I believe Wilson Contreras has signed on.
00:13Caglione has signed on here.
00:16I think Ben Rice now is going to be there.
00:20Just who is watching this?
00:23And I think they changed it, didn't they, this year?
00:25I think the whole thing is it's kind of back to forget the clock.
00:29I think it's back to what it used to be.
00:32But, I mean, Cam and Arrow, maybe.
00:35I don't know who is tuning in to watch this anymore.
00:39At this point, it's only, you know, diehard baseball fans.
00:42The reverting back to the format with no clock, I think, is good.
00:47Like, that's what fans want to see.
00:49But this is also the first year that we're going to see it.
00:51So we have to, you know, have the year to get back acclimated to it.
00:55But ultimately, I don't have too many tips about the home run derby.
00:59A lot of it comes down to luck.
01:00A lot of it comes down to just who your matchup is, if that player is going to advance.
01:03The all-star game, I think the NL side is probably going to be a heavy favor just based on
01:07the pitchers that they have
01:09and who should be out there right back then.
01:10But the all-star game for the MLB needs some type of innovation.
01:13That's what it comes down to.
01:16Well, if you're Mike Trout, like, you got to play.
01:18You need to part in.
01:20Like, how you even are at this all-star game is beyond me.
01:23But, yes, you need to earn your keep, man.
01:27Get to the all-star game.
01:29But I don't know who is – don't know.
01:32But the all-star game, it'll be here before you know it.
01:34Nice little reprieve next week.
01:36Jordan Alvarez, by the way, is passing.
01:38He would have been easily the favorite if he would have played there.
01:43But he has decided to pass it this year.
01:46So, there could be a few more changes when it's all said and done.
01:50But that should be very interesting.
01:52And I'm with you.
01:53I think the all-star game, they've got to be more creative.
01:58The NBA struggles with it.
02:00The NFL doesn't even have an all-star game.
02:03Well, I don't even know what that is, the whole Pro Bowl.
02:05That thing is just laughably bad.
02:07But, you know, baseball is our last hole.
02:11NHL figured it out.
02:12The Four Nations, give me that every couple of years.
02:15I'm good to go for an all-star match.
02:17But, I mean, baseball was our last hope here, Tom, for them to get it right.
02:22And they can't get it right.
02:24No, they can't.
02:25The NHL, I think, figured it out where they're going to have some combination of the Four Nations some years.
02:29There's even the skills competitions that the NHL has with the hardest shot, the fastest skater, all those sorts of
02:36things.
02:36Like, they're at least trying, right?
02:37I'd rather have baseball try.
02:39And if you fail, so be it.
02:41But there needs to be something else alongside.
02:43You know, and everyone's going to talk about, you know, the KBO and the Japanese League, that they have bunting
02:47competitions, bunting accuracy.
02:49Let's just try something new.
02:51Fastest around the bases would be fun.
02:54An outfielder accuracy throwing competition would be fun.
02:57Will it work?
02:58Will it stick here forever?
02:58No, but try for a few years.
03:00And let's see where it goes.
03:03I'm with you.
03:04And, by the way, the whole thing of, like, every team deserves an all-star is a crock.
03:09Like, if your team blows, there's no reason for you to be concerned.
03:13There shouldn't be an all-star on your team in any way, shape, or form.
03:17Like, absolutely not.
03:19You've got to be able to earn it.
03:21And otherwise, we're getting a bunch of guys just that we can bring into the sixth inning when all the
03:25starters actually get dressed and leave the ballpark.
03:27So, baseball's got a long way to go.
03:31Used to be entertaining.
03:32Used to be fun with the Griffey Juniors and company back in the day because they wanted to win.
03:37You don't get that anymore here, unfortunately.
03:41But the good news is most people need a little break anyway because as soon as baseball comes back, Tom,
03:49we know what's happening.
03:50We're that much closer to the NFL and college football.
