00:02The Selangor Education Department is fully cooperating in the investigation into the
00:09stabbing of a female student at a school in Banting. In a statement on Monday, the department
00:15confirmed that the incident occurred earlier in the day and that the injured student is
00:21currently receiving treatment at a hospital. It said the priority is to ensure the victim
00:27receives the best possible medical care while assistance is extended to the student's family.
00:34The department has also mobilised counsellors and school guidance teachers to provide psychosocial
00:39support to students, teachers and school staff affected by the incident. JPN Selangor also urged
00:47the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could interfere with the police
00:53investigation. Earlier, Kuala Langat Police Chief Superintendent Mohamed Akmal Rizal Radzi
00:59said police received a report of the incident at 9.50am. Initial investigations found that the
01:06victim was allegedly stabbed with a knife by another female student within the school compound.
01:11The suspect has been arrested to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated
01:17under Section 307 of the Penal Code for Attempted Murder, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years,
01:24a fine or both upon conviction.
