The Thai government has handed over compensation amounting to 650,000baht (RM80,000) to one of two Malaysians injured in a bomb blast in the Tak Bai district on June 29.

Narathiwat Governor Boonchuay Homyamyen said the Thai government deeply regrets the incident that injured the two Malaysians and assured that security measures will continue to be strengthened to protect both residents and tourists.

00:42On June 29, Muhammad Yusri and 45-year-old Abdullah Sharapi Abdulrahman were injured when a homemade
00:50explosive device hidden in a roadside drain detonated near the Sapom Junction.
00:56Thai authorities said the two Malaysians were not the intended targets of the attack, which
01:01is believed to have been carried out by a rebel group.
01:04A 40-year-old suspect was detained following the incident while security forces launched
01:10a full investigation.
