Statements from Carmen Melendez, mayor of Caracas, regarding the recovery efforts in the city following the two earthquakes that affected much of the country. teleSUR

00:02The people have been moved to the closer hospitals. Unfortunately, we have
00:10rescued two, we have retrieved two bodies from two people who passed away. In El
00:17Paraíso París, there was a collapsed building and we also have the in the
00:27first block part that collapsed from this building. And we have done a tour to secure
00:38communication with all the security organisms, the fallen houses, and we have
00:48been trying to take care of everybody. The acting president has been in
00:53communication, in constant communication with all the news and all the incidents
01:00that have been happening. We are in various places across Caracas to help the
01:10families. A lot of families are left without a home. The cultural sports complex
01:21Guayana Saquiba has been used to shelter a lot of people from Caracas, especially the
01:30instruction is that everybody go to open places like sports fields to secure
01:40themselves, to secure their safety. Our maximum priority is to save lives and in
01:49this job that we have been carrying out. There has been a lot of people trapped. Our
01:59acting president said that classes are off, that most businesses are also off. We've been
02:10moving around in running vehicles with an intense job and our authorities of the
02:20security organisms are here, are present and I want to recognize all of them for the
02:29great job they're carrying out. We are expressing our support, we are offering our
02:36support with ambulances and rescue crews to our neighbors that have been heavily damaged.
02:48We are calling for the people to stay calm and to maintain tranquility. After all the
02:57incidents that we have had, they will continue deployed across Caracas trying to
03:03continue the rescue operations, the journalist is asking if they know, if they have any
03:16further information about the earthquakes and the damages in Caracas. Acting
03:23President Alcero Rodriguez gave the balance of the damages
