00:00The National Registration Department has denied viral claims linking the presence of foreigners at its counters to MyCard applications.
00:09In a Facebook post, JPN said not everyone at its counters was there to apply for or obtain a MyCard,
00:16as it also provides various registration and documentation services for foreigners.
00:22These include registering births, which must be done regardless of the parent's nationality.
00:28JPN stressed that registering a newborn's birth does not automatically grant Malaysian citizenship
00:35with pink birth certificates issued to non-citizens as proof that a birth was registered in Malaysia.
00:42It also provides services involving foreigners, including civil marriages between foreign spouses.
00:49JPN urged the public not to jump to conclusions about a person's presence at its offices
00:55without knowing the purpose of their visit.
00:58The clarification came after viral videos yesterday purportedly showed several Rohingya refugees at a JPN office,
01:06with an ex-user claiming they were there to obtain MyCard.
