01:14i know i'm feeling useful today our little blue van is in yorkshire with izzy and robin heading
01:21to the cathedral city of york i love york actually i went on a school trip when i was a
01:26private
01:26school so york has its roman and viking heritage and history either the boneless was the original
01:34viking invader wasn't he we're listening i think it's i think it's 866 a.d around that sort of time

01:41think what a smarty pants we're heading to the home of gracie lance and their young daughter juno
01:48they moved to the area around two years ago we decided to have a baby and then we moved to
01:55york
01:55in time for juno to be born so she's the only member of the family that's actually from york
02:00and today gracie's mum claire is up from cheltenham to lend a hand mum's always very practical help when
02:07she comes up she'll just get on with whatever needs doing i always bring old clothes and old shoes
02:13now bringing up a toddler always has its challenges but this special little lady needs a bit more
02:19looking after juno is what's called a swan which is syndromes without a name which is when something
02:27probably genetic has happened and it's so rare that it's it's not actually been named the condition
02:34affects juno's development so expected baby milestones like crawling and walking don't come naturally to her
02:40these are all things that any other child just starts doing whereas you have to really like
02:46teach her how to do them come on pop it come on ready left leg come on left leg there
02:53yeah
02:55juno's had physiotherapy since the age of 10 months and whilst it's really improved her mobility
03:01gracie and lance wanted to do more so they've turned to a new intensive therapy pioneered in america
03:08with doing the first week of the intensive physio we really saw the difference it was just the way
03:14that they taught you to do things to enable her it was was brilliant but this extra help isn't cheap
03:21and with gracie looking after juno full-time lance works long hours to cover the costs which is why
03:28they've called us in if we can get two thousand pounds that'll get us another week of intensive physio
03:33anything more than that's just a bonus we just want to get her sort of running around so she can
03:38join in and do everything else that all the other kids are doing it'll be all hands on deck to
03:44hunt
03:44through the heirlooms and help fund juno's physio

04:51ah and the rocking horse oh she's lovely condition that looks great actually oh hang on oh you poor
05:00thing got a big crack down the side of you do you know what that's a tricky fix as well

05:06bits i would have just separated otherwise it looks in really good condition how am i going to get
05:12out to the van though i know no better not i think it's suffered enough don't you robin while you

05:30unopened is he ah this is the tidiest airing cupboard i've ever seen everything's organized
05:38but there's a box without a label on so what are you my interest is peaked oh mine too i

05:47there are knickknacky bits however what i'm interested in are these halcyon days enamels now
05:53halcyon days they were established in 1950 so they're a relatively modern company but what they
05:58specialize in are enameled boxes the enamels are these hand painted designs on top of copper it's
06:07a musical box now it's limited edition so it's numbered to the base 135 out of 750 we can wind
06:13it up
06:14give it a little wind we have got these arabian type scenes
06:20you know what that is it's shahrazad it's rimsy korsakov shahrazad was the heroine in the arabian
06:33classic 1001 nights they're really beautiful and what's lovely to see is that we have the original
06:39boxes so often you might have these display it box gets stuffed in the loft or thrown out the fact
06:46that we have the boxes it adds to the value of these and for the three of these you're looking
06:51easily at 150 pounds good find izzy if they can make that at auction that'll be a big boost to
06:57juno's
06:57physio fund outside and with his first job of the day on the list robin is getting our little blue

07:06all set up for action oh she's looking lovely today time to see if his first patient can be brought
07:15back
07:15to life this lovely little rocking horse it's got this huge great crack in its side now i really hope
07:24i've got a bit of wood in the van that'll fit in there aha
07:32that is oak i always keep scrap wood even little bits like this you just never know when they're
07:38going to come in handy yes nothing goes to waste in this van so what i'm going to do is
07:44cut little
07:44slither of this oak and slot it in that gap and then i've got to shape it all in to
07:49match the shape
07:49of the horse this is going to be a tricky job if anyone can do it it's you robin
07:59it's too big right cut another piece i may have spoken too soon it's too small
08:07we've got to find the goldilocks piece somewhere in between these two you could always try measuring it
08:15oh yeah that is just right so if i can fit that bit in there
08:23maybe another couple of them that's definitely a bit fiddly isn't it
08:31there you go every single one of them fits like a glove
08:35just got to take them all out and glue them all in hello gracie hello hi you found jotter
08:41jotter was this your childhood rocking horse he was yeah me and my sister had a great time on this

08:45it's a beautiful thing and hopefully this little repair might um bring it back to its former glory
08:50i'd just like to see him being used and and loved and enjoyed i better glue these bits in before

09:16gracie's childhood friend could be the star of the auction so he needs to look his best on the day

09:28back inside is anything else pinging izzy's rummaging radar oh what have i got here toys
09:39oh it's got four boxes of die cast what's really good to see about these is they're all in their
09:46boxes and this really adds value and it's really important to a collector there are two brands that
09:51are the most desirable brands and they are corgi and dinky now having a look here i've got vanguard
09:58and i've got models of yesteryear but they are all box and there's a lot of them here i would

10:04them all as one lot personally with a guide of 50 to 70 pounds i wonder where they've come from
10:10gracie hello hello oh what have you found i've discovered the car collection yes they don't
10:18strike me very much as a you sort of item these belong to andrew my stepdad um he passed away

10:25years ago since he passed away my mum's been sorting through them donating them to charity giving them
10:31away um and then she wanted me to take over the job because it's been quite a big job having
10:37downsized
10:37claire's decided to let go of more of andrew's possessions at least his car collection and other
10:43items can go to auction to help juno lead a more active life two years on though the tragedy of
10:50andrew's
10:50death still affects the whole family greatly andrew and i were very excited to come here and have a
10:57lovely christmas and um we did up until boxing day and sadly andrew had a massive heart attack
11:07we tried resuscitation and the ambulance came so quickly from york hospital and um but it was
11:16to no avail we just bought this house but i just i wanted to move
11:23i didn't i didn't want to i didn't want to stay after that happened here the strength this family
11:28has shown in the face of hardship is truly incredible and that's why it's vital for us to
11:33find as much as we can to go under the hammer and izzy's keen to find out a bit more
11:39about the man
11:40behind the vans hi hey are you doing some work no no just a few photos this is andrew that's
11:48myself
11:48so this is obviously a fairly recent few years ago and then andrew's a younger man i think he was
11:55probably only about 17 now i'd say i think it might be a wooden spoon he's receiving he used to
12:01like rally
12:01driving so it was probably his first competition he did quite well at uh rally driving i think he had
12:08a
12:08few maestro and various different british rally cars we accumulated quite a number of uh items he
12:16had an interesting tractor really yeah and hopefully that might be something that would be useful to go
12:22to auction so does it work the tractor i really don't know um to be honest i've never set eyes
12:27in
12:28it it's it's been well looked after in a barn his friend martin looks after it well thanks to technology
12:34claire and izzy can get their first look at it hi claire how are you hi martin i'm izzy i
12:41think
12:41you've been busy with that tractor haven't you we've managed to get it going so this one's actually a
12:47kfd 52 built at dagenham on the 31st of august 1953 it was used up in the bristol docks for
12:56shunting
12:57railway carriages she's in very good working condition can you get it started for us so we can have a
13:03listen
13:05hers like a dream our traveling auctioneer's auction it's it's not the right way to sell this
13:11we need a vintage tractor specialist you know that auction house will have contacts with all
13:16the tractor buyers because it is a niche market it is that a fantastic machine will be off to the
13:22auction house of hj pew and co who know a thing or two about tractors and our izzy has put
13:28a value of
13:29four to six thousand pounds on it excellent news for juno's fund it's lovely that juno will have a
13:36bit of her granddad sort of helping her with her care even though andrew isn't here yeah he's still
13:40helping her through providing the money through the sale of his items to get her that physiotherapy
13:46i'd like the idea with that i'm gonna walk in that'll be lovely that would be really something
13:50you're gonna set me off
13:54now from 54 horsepower down to just one we're ready for the next step of robin's rocker restoration
14:02the glue's dried so now i need to saw this excess timber off what i've done by putting a bit
14:06of masking
14:07tape either side of the timber is just offer it a tiny bit of protection so the side of the
14:12saw blade
14:12doesn't leave loads of cut marks and scratch marks in the existing wood it also gives me a little
14:17barrier because i'm going to need to stain this oak to match this color and varnish it with the masking
14:22tape it means i just stain the light wood and don't touch any of the existing wood right let's get
14:29cutting
14:30careful there robin we don't want other faults to fix
14:38okay that rough cut is done it's been cut pretty close to the original body of the horse but it
14:44is
14:44a little bit rough this is a job for sandpaper and elbow grease no power tools for this delicate work
14:51it's really smooth even the grain matches all it needs now is a coat of wood stain to blend it
14:57into
14:57the rest of the body i can take the masking tape off now and see how my repair is looking
15:06it's the
15:08moment of truth that is brilliant i'm really happy with that repair you can hardly tell it's a good
15:16honest repair and it just blends in perfectly and with izzy giving it a guide price of 150 to 200
15:23pounds
15:24let's hope that jota gallops away at the auction but we still need some more lots so hop to it

15:31leave no nook or cranny unscoured a wee little cupboard under the stairs a tiny little door
15:42wow they really are making use of this cupboard it's packed full of boxes i think you found a secret
15:47stash there is some trench art copper samovar another one there ah that's rather sweet it's
15:56a miniature coal scuttle you're not going to fit much coal into this but it's been modeled on what
16:00would have been a bigger fuller size coal scuttle and what i love is the attention to detail so you've
16:05got these lion mask handles here in brass you've got the copper you've got this little ceramic delft
16:10style blue and white handle it's a bit mucky though there's a lot of verdigris on there hmm
16:15that needs a robin cleanup it would definitely be sensible to sell all the three boxes of metalware
16:23as one lot and i would hope that it would make 30 to 40 pounds quite comfortably
16:28right let's go and find my man yes we'd hate for him to be bored
16:33hello hello i've got a big coal scuttle for you the biggest coal scuttle you've ever seen
16:42wow it's got a bit of verdigris on it isn't it just a bit my day as a restorer would
16:47not be complete
16:48without polishing a little bit of metal somewhere along the line go on robin i know you're just
16:53itching to get stuck in the oxide is quite bad on this so i'm going to try my old favorite
16:59super fine
17:00wire wall now the majority of these corrosive marks are being removed but it's it is still leaving
17:07behind a little remnant i've got a little idea that i want to test out when i was a kid
17:14i used to drop
17:15my pennies in cola and i pick them out a couple of minutes later and they'd be shiny as anything
17:23so i'm hoping i can use a little bit of cola to clean up this
17:28it's not the fizz but the phosphoric acid in the drink that reacts with the copper oxide
17:34is it gonna work it's starting to work oh my goodness the difference between the areas that
17:41i've treated with cola and wire wall and that haven't been touched they're really stark
17:44so it's doing a good job i know the inside's quite corroded i'll just pour a little bit of this
17:50in there
17:50let's see if the chemical reaction cleans the inside of the copper for us we're certainly fizzing
17:56but is it gonna clean let's leave that to bubble away and see if izzy can conjure one last bit
18:03of magic
18:07ah that is very cool that is the coolest door handle i've ever seen
18:12ha ha there's bound to be something exciting behind a secret door
18:19oh now this big crystal flower necklace is butler and wilson butler and wilson creates big chunky
18:30glitzy jewelry on its own that necklace is going to have a value of around 20 pounds but i wouldn't
18:36put
18:37it on its own because i can see there are already other bits of costume jewelry in here that and
18:41it
18:41would be better to sell it all as one value wise
18:47easily 30 to 50 pounds for all of it not a bad little haul but not quite the wow factor
18:54we were
18:54hoping for i found the jewelry i have indeed something else i've got no idea if it's real or not
19:01it is a diamond oh great 18 karat gold but how about we go out to the van and i'll
19:06tell you why
19:06okay it's not just robin that keeps his tools in there it's a bit like doing detective work
19:13assessing gemstones inside i can see that there are inclusions now the most common stone used to
19:21imitate a diamond is a cubic zirconia they're man-made they do not have inclusions i have never seen a
19:27cz with inclusions inclusions are tiny irregularities trapped inside the diamond as it forms over
19:34billions of years this is a diamond tester this is going to prove that this is a diamond
19:41there we go it is a diamond ring value-wise you'd be looking at 100 to 150 pounds great it's
19:48good news
19:49that it's a real diamond but it's bad news for someone else because i actually found this in a car
19:53park when
19:53i was a child you've had it that long yeah i did report it but no one came forward so
19:58i've just had
19:58it in my jewelry box for about 15 years it's lovely it's just not my style fantastic so we can
20:03sell this
20:03for juno's pot we can that's more like it nothing like a bit of bling for your final find now

20:11see if the cola's done the trick you definitely don't want to be drinking that now that's cleaned it
20:17really well ready for auction and with an estimate of 30 to 40 pounds on the mass of metalware that's
20:25a sparkling end to a very busy day our talented twosome has pulled together some fantastic items
20:32for the auction further digging unearthed a 19th century mahogany tea caddy it's a nice little box
20:38very ornate that's been valued at 30 to 50 pounds and a selection of movie related action figures
20:45i cannot stress enough how having the boxes is really vital to the value of a toy izzy will put
20:52a price of 30 to 50 pounds on those as well oh and let's not forget that tractor look at
20:58it go
21:00and with that we've crossed the finish line we've come to say goodbye oh well thank you for coming

21:38a couple of months have passed since we rummaged with gracie and claire and our traveling team are
21:43back in yorkshire we're at ghoul on the air and colder canal built in the 1820s and still transporting
21:51goods to this day and it's where we've brought our cargo all ready for auction i'm looking forward to
21:59our sale takes place at spices auctioneers situated right on the waterway we've got our rostrum in
22:11place testing testing and three very special ladies have just turned up 25 lots have been
22:18unearthed by robin and izzy fingers crossed they do well and make as much as possible for juno's
22:24specialist physiotherapy treatment a massive welcome to gracie claire and beautiful baby juno
22:32so let's start with the trio of music boxes and hope they don't go for a song i can start
