00:00It's very close and nobody's going to take away anything from Shohei Ohtani.
00:04The numbers are very comparable and if you add in the pitching, absolutely, he's made 14 starts
00:11and you look at what he meant to the Dodgers rotation at the beginning of it,
00:16then I think that, sure, that's a defensible argument.
00:22Offensively, they have, you know, PCA's got one more home run, I believe,
00:26and they're comparable offensive statistics and you look at the war, though,
00:32and I know John Heyman pushed back and he's our guy, but I don't hear that argument being advanced very
00:38far
00:38because you use war to compare players historically in other MVP races
00:44and this is the year we're going to look at the exception.
00:47Why? I mean, it's a consistent, respected, accepted measure of value
00:53and in terms of value to his respective team, you could make the argument
00:57that Pico Armstrong means more to the Cubs than Ohtani does to the Dodgers
01:01through no fault of either guy, but that is just the truth.
01:05You take PCA out of the lineup for the Cubs, they will miss him more than Ohtani would be missed
01:09by the Dodgers.
01:10So, right now, it was a loud homer.
01:13It was the 12th walk-off for the Cubs.
01:15They have had 38 comeback victories.
01:17This is a team that is resilient and I think he's a big reason why.
01:21He would get the slight nod right now, I think, objectively.
01:25And if I can't be objective, I'll just think flat out.
01:29He would be the guy I would give the MVP to this morning.
01:32As far as pitching to him, that was a mistake.
01:35You had a right-hander in Brazabon.
01:37He could have brought in to face Suzuki.
01:40You hold up four fingers, you walk the MVP.
01:42The one guy that circled that can't beat you.
01:45And Will Venable dared Pete Crow Armstrong to beat the White Sox.
01:48Thank you very much, said every Cub fan there.
01:51Every Cub fan watching, because he did.
01:53And he hit the homer into outer space and it was a classic victory.
01:59And I think the Sox have to have a little regret as the Cub fans would rejoice.
