00:01It's fair to say Western Australia has had a love affair with double brick.
00:07An affair that endures. A 2025 Housing Industry Association report finding 68% of WA's freestanding homes are double brick.
00:18Far above any other jurisdiction.
00:20We have been working hard to embrace alternative housing delivery. Modular, timber frames, steel, small homes, you name it.
00:31The latest announcement? A $27 million social housing project.
00:37This will deliver 54 modular social homes for seniors across 17 shires in the Wheatbelt.
00:47Those shires include Bruce Rock, Meriden and Dowren, with the first 12 going to Celebran.
00:53The state and federal funds secured through grants by community housing provider Central East Accommodation and Care Alliance Inc.
01:01With the homes to be built by Modular WA in Wangarra.
01:06It takes around 16 weeks to build a modular home just like this one.
01:11And with construction set to begin this month, the first of these homes should be sent to seniors on the
01:18social housing waitlist across the Wheatbelt by the end of the year.
01:22It's about sustainable success.
01:25So ensuring that our seniors and people who are living with disability or are on low income have a successful
01:32long term option to stay in those communities.
01:35It does offer advantages. You build off site, you don't have to worry about weather, you bring all the trades
01:42together and the timeframes can be quicker.
01:46I want a hell of a lot more of it.
01:48I want to see the details.
01:50That's why.
01:50I don't want to make sure everything that is in one place.
01:51I want to look forward to the whole building is a very good thing but that now
01:51I'm looking forward to seeing a challenging time with interactions between the managers and CEOs who are in trouble.
01:53You
