00:02This little blue boat hasn't been on the water in a year and a half.
00:06It's now returned after being brought back to life by students and volunteers
00:10here at Tasmania's Wooden Boat Centre in Franklin.
00:13The boat, called the Sea Breeze, was moored at Montrose Bay in Hobart for decades
00:18and became a beloved icon on the River Derwent.
00:22But in 2024 it was badly damaged in a storm and was sold to the boat centre for $1.
00:29Over the past 18 months, students and volunteers at the centre
00:32have restored the Sea Breeze to its former state
00:34and today carefully put it back in the water.
00:38Oh, it's very exciting. We're really looking forward to seeing it float in the water
00:41and seeing her regain her soul, her energy, as boats do when they're back in the water, become lively.
00:47There's still a bit of work to do.
00:49While it's in the water here, volunteers will complete the final fit-out
00:52and the mast will be replaced.
00:54Once it's fully restored, the Sea Breeze will be presented at next year's Wooden Boat Festival
00:59before it's handed over to its new owner.
