00:00From a young age, I was encouraged by my parents, they must have thought I was too chatty to
00:05go into public speaking and debating.
00:09And so I kind of grew up in that environment and then after I left school, I thought, what's
00:14the best way to apply to this?
00:15And so I realised I had a voice and I was taught how to use it.
00:18I think the best way to use it is to represent other people who may not have the same opportunities
00:22that I have and to represent them in that way.
00:25And so when the opportunity came about, as I usually do, I take the opportunity as they come.
00:30I said yes, I applied and I ended up here.
00:32I think for a lot of young people at the moment, cost of living, crisis, housing issues, I think
00:39they're very important for young people who are recent graduates or trying to start a family.
00:43Of course, in rural areas, like the one I'm from, I think access is a big issue, access
00:50to health care, access to opportunities.
00:52I think this program is a great way of addressing as well youth engagement and youth participation
00:58in public life and then also opens avenues for further contributions in community service
01:04and other fields.
01:06I think in Wagga specifically, there's been a bit of a housing issue with a lot of people
01:11who are currently unhoused.
01:13I know our government currently is trying to look into it, but I think it's a very important
01:17issue that does need to be addressed and addressed effectively and in a timely manner because
01:22our people can't just be out on the streets for an undefined period of time.
01:26So I think that's very important.
01:28The other thing I would probably say is important would be agricultural issues.
01:32The Riverina is home to some of the most fantastic farms in the whole entire country.
01:36And I think being able to manage their needs with new directions, possibly renewable energy
01:46and things like that, and water even, that's quite a pressing issue as well.
01:50Being able to manage that is quite a priority for the region.
