00:00I think we all assume that if not just this preseason game,
00:04and we don't have an update on who's going to start this game yet,
00:07Todd told us today, there's going to be an or on the unofficial depth chart,
00:10and indeed there was.
00:11You have Deshaun Watson or Shador Sanders being your starting quarterback
00:16come this weekend.
00:19I don't think it really at this point matters.
00:21I mean, we'll react to it, obviously, when one is named,
00:23because I do think it's significant.
00:25But in terms of how you're going to figure this out,
00:28if Todd sticks to his guns in the way that he was talking about last week,
00:32where if they're still in the competition,
00:33they will give one game to a set of guys
00:36and give the next game to the other set of guys.
00:39If it's Deshaun this week, it would be Shador next week.
00:42Then let's determine what's happening in the battle.
00:44Okay, I can live with that.
00:46That's perfectly fine.
00:47But it more comes down for me,
00:50okay, not so much about who's in the first quarter in game one versus game two,
00:54but how much time you're actually playing.
00:56Obviously, the coach's show is just on.
00:58You heard right at the very end,
00:59the guy's talking about the fact that it seems like expectation is that each guy will play a half,
01:05which I think is fantastic, by the way.
01:07That is exactly what I'm looking for when it comes to go get my quarterback some play time.
01:13Yeah, give them an entire half.
01:14Give them a quarter and a half.
01:16Like, I get it.
01:16If you want to get Taylor Greene a little action,
01:18you want to get Dylan Gabriel a little action,
01:20you'll probably have those in preseason game number three.
01:22We know how this thing goes.
01:24Even if you have your starter,
01:26you have all your ones announced coming up on the final preseason game,
01:29probably not playing very much,
01:30and you're probably digging deeper into the bag,
01:32and they might not play at all.
01:33And then it's going to be time for Dylan Gabriel.
01:35It'll be time for Taylor Greene.
01:37Get your opportunities.
01:38Get your reps in an actual game-like experience.
01:42But I'm looking more towards,
01:45what are you actually showing for me?
01:46Because I do think it's significant, right?
01:48I'm trying to watch.
01:50Shador, if I'm going to see anything in operation,
01:52I'm going to be able to figure out when I get to game time
01:54what that operation actually looks like.
01:58And when it comes to Deshaun,
01:59my biggest question is,
02:00what do you look like when the other team can hit you?
02:02What do you look like when you actually take the field?
02:04I don't want to see you go out there and take a drive.
02:08If you're playing a drive, two drives,
02:10even anything less than a full quarter of football
02:13would be ridiculous.
02:16And Todd Munkin was asked today
02:17whether or not he expects the Bears to play their starters.
02:19And it went a little bit deeper into things as well.
02:22I have no idea what they're doing.
02:24We'll see when we get there.
02:25I mean, we're going to do what we do.
02:27Some of that will play off what they do,
02:28a little bit offensively.
02:30We certainly want to be able to evaluate our quarterbacks.
02:33So we certainly can't put them at risk
02:36if they have their one defensive line out there, right?
02:38I mean, that's probably the biggest item on the table
02:41will be how long our starters up front will play
02:43will be determined by how long their starters up front play.
02:46So I understand, of course, the aspect of,
02:49I mean, that's a very good Bears defensive line.
02:51It's a very good Bears defense, period.
02:53You're obviously not going to be going,
02:55hey, well, let's just go out there
02:57and throw the twos in there
02:58and have the entire backup offensive line
03:00going up against a pretty good pass rush
03:02and just putting my quarterback in a bad spot.
03:04Of course, yes, that's where the guys up front
03:06will have to be there.
03:07I imagine you just keep the quarterback along with them, though.
03:11Right, and I do like what I heard on the coaches show
03:13talking about probably the expectation being
03:16that these guys end up playing a half.
03:18You are trying to figure out everything you can,
03:20and I think that this should be, right?
03:22I don't want it to be everything.
03:24It's one, two games at the end of the day,
03:26and maybe if you're playing a half of each,
03:27you're getting one full game of football in.
03:29I don't think it should come down to
03:31how did you perform in the preseason?
03:33There's other things into that.
03:35There's going against the ones,
03:35going against the twos,
03:36potentially the threes,
03:37depending on what you're looking at.
03:39It shouldn't be everything,
03:40but game-like scenario is something that should matter.
03:42It should carry some sort of weight,
03:44and ultimately, you're picking a quarterback
03:48to go out there and actually play for you, right?
03:51To take the field on Sundays.
03:52So I need to see how you operate
03:54when the game is live.
03:56When you're facing live bullets,
03:57that's what I need to see.
03:58So I'm trying to see as much of that tape as possible,
04:01and you're not going to play a guy for an entire game,
04:04but if you're going to go half-half,
04:05that's great.
04:06That's probably exactly what I would draw up for you.
04:07I just don't know if I can take the time right now
04:10in the first two preseason games
04:12or even before I just have a starter named period
04:14and go out there and be like,
04:15here, Dylan, take some reps.
04:17Here's some opportunity for you.
04:19Go out there and run with it.
04:20I don't think I can do that right now.
04:23Dylan Gabriel is not going to be my starting quarterback
04:25as much as guys like Mike Renner
04:28and everybody else want to tell me
04:28he's got a real shot for the job.
04:30I know for a fact he doesn't have a shot
04:31for the starting job.
04:32Backup, sure, we saw him take even more reps
04:34with the twos today.
04:36He can definitely slot somewhere in
04:38along this depth chart.
04:39I think he's proven himself well
04:40if they're not going to go through
04:42and use him as trade bait.
04:43That's okay.
04:44But I really don't need to see him play the game.
04:47I certainly don't need to see Taylor Greene
04:48taking away any sort of valuable rep
04:50that I can go,
04:51here's how this guy's actually going to play
04:52within the game.
04:54Here's what it'll look like.
04:55In any sort of indication,
04:58I'm trying to break down
04:59any small piece of film,
05:01any small piece indication
05:02that tells me you are the quarterback
05:04that should be going out there
05:05and playing for me on Sundays.
05:06I need to see every ounce of it.
05:09So I think if Todd sticks to this idea
05:11that yes,
05:11play these guys for a half in the preseason,
05:14that should be what you're looking for.
05:16And Aaron Rodgers came out with his comments today
05:19about not playing in the preseason,
05:20doesn't think it's necessary,
05:22thinks you learn more from these guys
05:24when you go out there
05:24and see them play in training camp
05:27and start to learn the offense.
05:28I don't buy any of that.
05:30Maybe when it comes to a guy like Aaron Rodgers,
05:32you don't have to play in the preseason.
05:34I've seen what you can do
05:35and I've seen it for well over a decade.
05:38I don't need to see any more of Aaron Rodgers.
05:40You know what you're bringing,
05:41just stay healthy.
05:42When it comes to Deshaun,
05:43part of this is staying healthy,
05:44being able to take a hit,
05:45being able to get back to playing actual football.
05:48And part of it's, again,
05:50the last time we saw Deshaun play in an actual game,
05:53he did not look very good.
05:55And they can make all of the,
05:57hey, he's got to knock the rust off
05:58type of things throughout training camp
05:59that they want.
06:00And I buy into it to a degree.
06:02Hasn't played football in a very long time.
06:03Yeah, you got to go out there
06:04and knock out some of the rust.
06:06But when it comes to the actual game,
06:08that's more than rust for me.
06:09Because I have bought into the,
06:12hey, Deshaun's got to knock off the rust,
06:13you know, narrative before.
06:15And one that made sense,
06:16because again, he was taking a long time off.
06:18So yeah, I think you did have to get back
06:20into game speed.
06:21There's no more rust to be able to knock off
06:23when you get to the games.
06:24It's put up or shut up time.
06:25You're in a quarterback competition.
06:26This isn't your job.
06:27We can't just live through the first four,
06:29five, six weeks having,
06:30oh, well, maybe Deshaun will eventually turn it on.
06:33Maybe he'll eventually,
06:33no, you have to show up right now.
06:35These are your moments.
06:36When you get a preseason start,
06:39whether it be game one or two,
06:40I assume it to be one if we're being 100% honest.
06:44But you should show up in that game.
06:46You should show me that you're going to be able
06:47to operate the offense.
06:48It doesn't have to be flawless.
06:49It doesn't have to be the most fantastic thing
06:51I've ever seen, but I would hope
06:54that you look somewhat comfortable.
06:56I would hope that the offense looks somewhat good
06:58if I'm going to name you my starting quarterback.
07:01Those are the type of things that I need to see
07:03going into this preseason.
07:04That's what you have to go through and show me.
07:07And anything less than trying to do that in a half,
07:10I just don't see the value of,
07:12if these guys go out there
07:13and Todd does not run this,
07:14like, again, you're in a competition.
07:17Like, these guys are going head-to-head
07:18and this is the most crucial decision
07:20you'll make all year
07:20because ultimately, that's what this is.
07:23This isn't just,
07:24oh, let's make sure the guys are healthy,
07:26get them back out to training camp.
07:27No, this is the most crucial decision
07:29you will make probably all year
07:31as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns
07:32if you're Todd Munkin.
07:33Who is my starting quarterback?
07:35This could legitimately be the difference.
07:37I don't think it's this wide of a margin,
07:39but it could be the difference
07:40between you getting three wins this year
07:42and you getting nine wins this year
07:44if you make the right choice
07:45versus if you make the wrong choice.
07:48So, I'd imagine for these type of games,
07:51again, preseason is not everything.
07:53It's all meant to be taken in context.
07:54All meant to be taken, you know,
07:56maybe with a grain of salt.
07:58But, you should be watching like a hawk
08:00if you're Todd Munkin.
08:01You should be paying attention
08:02to every little thing that happens
08:04and trying to get the most film
08:05on these guys possible,
08:06trying to have as much to evaluate the answer
08:09because up until you have that answer,
08:11respectfully so,
08:12Dylan Gabriel doesn't matter.
08:14Talon Green doesn't matter.
08:16If those guys are not
08:17in the starting quarterback competition,
08:18if they are not under consideration,
08:20I don't need to see them play football
08:21until somebody is actually named.
08:25Up until then,
08:26I'd rather see Shador go against the fours
08:28than Dylan go against the fours.
08:29Maybe I learned something,
08:31maybe I don't,
08:32but I at least have to take that risk
08:33and take that opportunity to see it
08:35until I feel like I have something definitive
08:37because up until this point,
08:39Todd has made it very clear
08:40there is nothing definitive
08:41about this quarterback competition.
08:42How long would you like to see
08:44each quarterback play in the preseason?
08:46Again, for me,
08:47it's a very simple thing.
08:49Until I have a quarterback named,
08:51it doesn't matter everybody else in here.
08:53Like, I don't care to see Dylan Gabriel
08:55play against the threes and fours.
08:56I don't care if that's figure out
08:57if he's your backup quarterback,
08:59figure out if he has trade value.
09:00I mean, it looks like we have Anthony Richardson
09:02basically going for the Colts
09:04and they're just going to try and trade value
09:05his way to the moon
09:07with their preseason game coming up on Thursday.
09:10Don't care.
09:11Don't want to see that.
09:11Don't want to see anything close to that.
09:13Figure out who your starting quarterback is.
09:14Until then,
09:15nobody else should be bothered
09:16to touch the field.
09:18Right?
09:19Like, I don't need to see
09:20basically anything from Dylan
09:21and anything of Talon.
09:22Get a legitimate answer.
09:24And like,
09:25if you have them come in
09:26for the final couple drives of the game
09:27and it's like Dylan gets out there
09:28and gets a little bit of run,
09:30all right, whatever.
09:31Like, if I get somewhere near
09:32an even distribution
09:33and it's like,
09:36Shador starts late in the second quarter
09:38gets some kind of opportunity
09:39which they wouldn't do
09:39because they'll give Deshaun
09:40the two-minute drill
09:41or vice versa.
09:42But, sure,
09:43give me something along those lines.
09:46I'm just asking for something
09:48fair and balanced
09:49and until you have an answer,
09:51I don't need to see anything else.
09:52But I want to hear from you guys.
09:54Again, how long do you want to see
09:55each quarterback play here
09:55coming up in the preseason?
09:57Let's go ahead
09:58and go out to the phones
09:59and Greg is in Youngstown.
10:01What's going on, Greg?
10:02Yeah, so listening to the
10:03Tom Malkin show,
10:04I'm glad I didn't have to hear
10:05the process in every answer
10:07like I did with Spansky.
10:09I also enjoyed the screen pass
10:11and handing the ball
10:12to running back
10:12as a smoke break
10:13for the quarterback.
10:14That made me chuckle.
10:16That's good.
10:17As far as quarterback play,
10:18he did say that
10:19if they can manufacture
10:21a two-minute drill,
10:22he'd like to see it.
10:23Don't manufacture it.
10:24Get points when you can get points.
10:26Preseason, regular season,
10:27doesn't matter.
10:28I agree with you.
10:29If you're not playing
10:30the entire game
10:32in a preseason
10:33or if they're up
10:3420 points,
10:35even though it doesn't matter,
10:36then throw someone else in.
10:37I want to see a full game
10:39from each of the two quarterbacks
10:41that are supposedly battling.
10:43I'm sure there's already
10:44a definitive answer.
10:46They're just not saying it.
10:47I mean, that's welcome
10:47to Cleveland.
10:49But I agree with you.
10:50I don't want to see
10:52anybody else out there.
10:53I don't want to see,
10:54you know,
10:55Chador throwing to the
10:56threes and fours
10:58or going against
10:58their threes and fours.
10:59I want to see every quarterback
11:00against the other teams,
11:02ones and twos.
11:03And then if the other team
11:04pulls their ones out,
11:05puts their twos in
11:06or pulls their twos out
11:06and puts their threes,
11:08we'll see how they do
11:08against it.
11:09Yeah.
11:10I mean, I just,
11:11I agree with you.
11:11And as injury prone
11:12as Watson is,
11:15make him play
11:16a whole preseason game.
11:17Sorry, if he goes down,
11:18that's nothing new.
11:20I mean, and that's also a,
11:21that's part of the evaluation,
11:22right?
11:22Like a,
11:23that's what we're looking at.
11:24And Greg,
11:24I appreciate the call.
11:25I think that is the biggest
11:26thing for me.
11:27And listen,
11:27like I'm not asking for
11:28one in one full preseason game,
11:30but I think getting that
11:31cumulatively,
11:31right?
11:32Like a first half
11:32and a second half
11:33on and off between
11:34these two preseason games.
11:35Yeah.
11:36Let me see a full total game,
11:37you know,
11:38in the,
11:38the culmination of it all
11:40to actually,
11:41before I go ahead
11:42and make an answer,
11:43but yes,
11:44if you would be sitting
11:45there worried,
11:45you're like,
11:45ah,
11:46we want to make sure
11:46Deshaun doesn't get hurt.
11:48Isn't that part of the game
11:49right now?
11:50I got Deshaun has to
11:51maybe be able to last
11:52through,
11:53you know,
11:53in theory,
11:5418 weeks worth of football
11:56with a bye week in there.
11:5717 full games
11:58is what Deshaun should
11:59have to be healthy for
12:00or damn close to it.
12:02That's what you're looking
12:02to see.
12:03And with as much
12:04as you've been evaluating
12:05these quarterbacks,
12:06getting to a competition,
12:07Deshaun going down
12:08or Shador going down
12:10might be all it takes
12:11for you to end up
12:11losing your job.
12:12We saw that with Dylan
12:13last year.
12:14Dylan got hurt.
12:15Shador came in.
12:16You never looked back.
12:17It didn't even take
12:18really a good Shador
12:19performance.
12:19If we're being honest,
12:20it just took Dylan's out.
12:22Okay.
12:23And then he went
12:23and played okay,
12:24like reasonably well
12:25against the Raiders.
12:26All right.
12:27We're just going to
12:27stick it out with Shador.
12:28This is the way
12:29we're going to roll
12:29with it.
12:29Dylan's healthy
12:30does not matter,
12:32but you need to see
12:32these guys be healthy.
12:33Again,
12:34that is part
12:34of the evaluation.
12:36And I think this
12:38comes down to something
12:39else because I thought
12:40it was interesting.
12:41Everybody's kind of
12:42harped on this,
12:42right?
12:42We all think about
12:43week one,
12:44week one,
12:44who's going to be
12:45the starter when
12:46you get to Jacksonville
12:48and Zach Jackson,
12:49in a very succinct way
12:50was kind of summing
12:51up the other side
12:52of the argument,
12:53whether maybe it's
12:54not all about week
12:55one,
12:55but about games
12:57in general.
12:58It's not the end
12:58of the world at all.
13:00And my gut feeling
13:01again,
13:02right now,
13:02more than four weeks
13:03before they play a game
13:04is that Shador Sanders
13:05will not start the season,
13:06but he will start
13:07the most amount of games
13:08that that's how
13:09I see this going.
13:10So I do kind of wonder
13:13which of those would
13:14actually be more
13:15important,
13:15right?
13:16If you're Shador,
13:17would you rather have
13:17more games under your
13:18belt or be handed
13:19the week one job
13:21and not even handed,
13:22but earned and make
13:23sure that you get it.
13:24And I think when it
13:25comes to Shador's case,
13:26it's actually not even
13:27much of an argument.
13:28I think you need
13:29the week one job.
13:32What are the odds
13:33that we're sitting here?
13:34Shador started your
13:34final seven games last
13:36year.
13:36Again,
13:36by choice,
13:37Dylan was healthy,
13:38did not go to him,
13:39but he started your
13:40final seven games.
13:41You put him on the
13:41bench.
13:42You play to Sean for
13:42games.
13:43You bring back Shador
13:43and you're like,
13:44that's the guy of the
13:45future.
13:45You didn't trust him
13:46enough to beat out
13:46to Sean Watson.
13:47How are you going to
13:48trust him enough to
13:49beat out the top five
13:50quarterbacks out of
13:51next year's class?
13:53Okay.
13:53That just doesn't seem
13:54like a promising thing.
13:55If you're not the week
13:55one starter,
13:57I'm pretty much at this
13:58point.
13:59I mean,
13:59your long-term career
14:00in Cleveland is a
14:01starting quarterback kind
14:02of feels like it's out
14:03the window and listen
14:05like a games matter in
14:06terms of his overall
14:07career.
14:08I mean,
14:09getting any opportunity
14:10to show what you have
14:11to any franchise across
14:12the league that when
14:13you're no longer a part
14:14of the Browns,
14:15you can go play for
14:15them.
14:15Yeah,
14:16that matters.
14:16Like that's important.
14:18Even for your case to
14:19stick around the team as
14:20a backup quarterback,
14:21keep collecting a
14:22paycheck.
14:22It's important.
14:23We know that
14:24quarterbacks can be in
14:25and out of the league
14:25relatively quickly,
14:26especially the late
14:27round picks.
14:29But I don't think
14:30Shador's really focused
14:31right now on trying to
14:32be the backup quarterback
14:33for the Browns for the
14:34following two years,
14:35making sure that he's
14:36collecting a paycheck
14:37and extending his time
14:38in the league.
14:39He's trying to extend
14:40his time as a starter
14:40in the league.
14:41Again,
14:42you are in your second
14:43year going into it
14:43right now.
14:44You want to prove that
14:45you're a starting
14:46quarterback.
14:46I don't think the
14:47number of games really
14:48matter.
14:49Even if you play 13,
14:51I think you still
14:52have a debate unless
14:53Shador plays 13 games
14:54and goes 13-0.
14:56I think you have a
14:57legitimate debate
14:58sitting on your hands
14:59of,
15:01did we see enough?
15:02Was there enough
15:03there?
15:03Is he better than
15:04Archmanning,
15:05Dante Moore,
15:06throw Julian saying
15:07whatever quarterback
15:08you want out there.
15:09Is he better than
15:10that guy?
15:11And I think that's a
15:13really tough battle
15:14for Shador to win
15:14even if you're 13
15:16games but you start
15:17in week five.
15:19The idea is you go
15:20out there and you
15:20win the week one
15:21job and Deshaun
15:21never touches the
15:22field and you give
15:24the Browns a reason
15:25to be invested in
15:26you.
15:26They made the right
15:27choice by picking you
15:27as a starting
15:28quarterback.
15:28They should continue
15:29to do that year in
15:30and year out.
15:31I don't think that
15:32again,
15:32you get sent to
15:33the back burner.
15:35You're basically
15:35your second,
15:36third fiddle when it
15:37comes to what
15:38quarterback should be
15:38playing a back-to-back
15:40years with the Browns
15:40and they go,
15:41actually,
15:42you're our starter
15:42in 2027.
15:43I don't see that.
15:45Okay.
15:45I think it's a
15:46complete opposite when
15:47you talk about
15:47Deshaun.
15:49I think Deshaun
15:50being the week one
15:50starter really doesn't
15:51matter much.
15:52Now,
15:52his only chance to
15:53play might be a
15:55legitimate concern
15:55there because if you
15:56play Shador and he
15:58doesn't give up the
15:58job,
15:59then Deshaun never
15:59gets to play and he
16:00has no tape to go
16:01send out there to
16:01other teams.
16:03But I think you
16:04would pick let me
16:05play more games over
16:06let me be the week
16:06one starter.
16:07Again,
16:07we are talking
16:07about a veteran
16:08quarterback in the
16:08league.
16:09If Deshaun leads
16:10you to a ton of
16:11wins,
16:11if he plays really
16:12good,
16:12you have former top
16:13five standing.
16:14Previously as a
16:15quarterback in the
16:16NFL,
16:16that's something
16:17for either the
16:18Browns or another
16:18team across the
16:19NFL to latch on to.
16:21Hey,
16:21I mean,
16:22he showed really
16:22good things,
16:23you know,
16:24this last year and
16:25remember what he
16:26once was,
16:26maybe that's worth
16:27investing to.
16:28And for Deshaun,
16:30it doesn't matter if
16:30it's the first 10
16:31games or the last 10
16:32games that you end
16:33up playing.
16:34If you go out there
16:35and have 10 games
16:36worth of tape to
16:37show anybody here,
16:39hand me another
16:39contract,
16:40even if it's a
16:40veteran minimum
16:41contract and you're
16:42going to consider me
16:43as the starter,
16:44that's a win in
16:45Deshaun's book given
16:46the last four
16:46years.
16:47You're just trying
16:48to put tape out
16:49there.
16:49You're obviously
16:50you would love to,
16:51I'm sure,
16:51continue to be the
16:52starting quarterback
16:52anywhere,
16:53even in Cleveland.
16:54I'm sure he would
16:55like to have that
16:55be the case.
16:57I think you're
16:57fighting up a hill
16:58there to be able
16:59to get that done.
17:00I mean,
17:00again,
17:00we have two first
17:01round picks next
17:01year,
17:02very likely into
17:02being a spot to
17:03take a quarterback,
17:06but you just need
17:07film on tape.
17:08I don't think week
17:08one should matter
17:10all that much to
17:10Deshaun other than
17:11the fact that it
17:12doesn't look good
17:13if you are end
17:14up behind
17:14Shador Sanders.
17:16But if you told
17:17him you don't get
17:18started against
17:19Jacksonville,
17:19but you get to
17:19play 12 games
17:20this year,
17:21I think Deshaun
17:21would take the
17:2212 games.
17:23I think he would
17:24take that over the
17:24opening five.
17:25So you're in two
17:26very different
17:26scenarios.
17:27And obviously,
17:28again,
17:28Deshaun wants to
17:29be the week one
17:30starter.
17:30I don't think
17:31there's much of a
17:31debate,
17:32much of a question
17:32to that.
17:33You obviously
17:33want to be put
17:34into that position.
17:35If you're Deshaun,
17:36you want to take it
17:36and play all 17
17:37games,
17:38never give Shador
17:39or the opportunity
17:39to get back on
17:40the field.
17:40That's the best
17:41case scenario for
17:42you.
17:43But I think in a
17:44way for Deshaun,
17:45it's not necessarily
17:46pivotal to the
17:46point where for
17:47Shador,
17:48I think you do
17:48need it if you're
17:49going to continue
17:50to be the starter
17:50for the Browns,
17:51which right now
17:51should be your
17:52goal.
17:53It should be,
17:54I want to play
17:55every single game
17:55for the Browns
17:56possible,
17:56and I want to
17:57continue to continue
17:58my career here
18:01because this is
18:02the team I have
18:02an opportunity with
18:03right now.
18:04This is the team
18:04that drafted me.
18:05This is my best
18:06chance.
18:07Somewhere else,
18:08at best,
18:08I'm going to be
18:09once again
18:09competing for a
18:10job.
18:11I don't think
18:11you have much
18:12of an opportunity
18:12to walk in and
18:13be named a
18:14starter anywhere.
18:15It would be,
18:16again,
18:16at best,
18:17here's an
18:18opportunity to
18:18go fight for
18:19it.
18:20All right,
18:20well,
18:20you might be
18:21past fighting
18:21for it if
18:21you're Shador
18:22too.
18:22That might
18:22just be,
18:23hey,
18:23welcome to
18:23being the
18:24backup
18:24quarterback
18:24for Lamar
18:25Jackson,
18:26Josh Allen,
18:26Patrick Mahomes,
18:27Joe Burrow,
18:28or just any
18:29established quarterback
18:29across the NFL.
18:31That might be
18:31the best
18:31opportunity you
18:32get.
18:33A game,
18:34week one,
18:35game one,
18:36he's so
18:36pivotal for
18:37Shador to get
18:38it.
18:38I don't care
18:39if he plays
18:39more games.
18:41That's telling
18:41me all I need
18:42to know.
18:42If Andrew
18:43Barry isn't
18:43forcing the
18:44hand,
18:44if he's not
18:45emphasizing to
18:46Todd Munkin
18:46how important
18:47this is,
18:48again,
18:49it's just a
18:49lack of Shador
18:50to begin with
18:51that he's
18:51actually going
18:52to be the
18:52guy,
18:52which,
18:53by the way,
18:53might be
18:54where you're
18:54at.
18:55Hey,
18:55and I don't
18:55necessarily even
18:56think that
18:56you're wrong
18:57if that's
18:57where you're
18:57at.
18:57I think you
18:58owe it to
18:58yourself.
18:59I think you
18:59owe it to
18:59your fan
18:59base to
19:00go out
19:00and see
19:00it,
19:01figure out
19:01if you
19:01have a
19:02quarterback
19:02here.
19:03But at the
19:04end of the
19:04day,
19:04you don't
19:04have
19:04confidence,
19:05you don't
19:05have
19:05confidence.
19:07I think if
19:07this is a
19:08guy that
19:08you thought
19:08had potential
19:09to be the
19:09starting
19:09quarterback,
19:10he would
19:10get the
19:10start week
19:11one.
19:12If it's
19:12a guy
19:12you can
19:13move forward
19:13with and
19:13feel like
19:14it's going
19:14to be a
19:14guy who's
19:14going to
19:15be here
19:15for 10
19:15years,
19:16you would
19:16give him
19:16the start
19:16week
19:17one.
19:18I don't
19:19know that
19:19you have
19:19that level
19:20of confidence
19:20in Shador.
19:21And I
19:21think starting
19:22anybody else
19:23including
19:23Deshaun Watson
19:24in week
19:24one is going
19:25to be a
19:25clear indication
19:26of that.
19:27I just
19:28don't think
19:28that's a
19:29battle you
19:29win.
19:30So
19:31congratulations,
19:32Shador plays
19:33anywhere from
19:34nine games
19:35to 14
19:38games,
19:39let's say.
19:39That'd be
19:40very generous
19:40for Deshaun
19:41to get
19:41sat after
19:41three games.
19:42I really
19:42don't think
19:43that would
19:43be the
19:43case.
19:44But I
19:45just can't
19:46tell you
19:46that the
19:46last nine
19:47or the
19:47last 13
19:48is going
19:49to be
19:49enough
19:49to convince
19:50the Browns.
19:51You have
19:51to do
19:51it now.
19:51A lot
19:52of the
19:52fight that
19:53you're
19:53trying to
19:53win to
19:54prove I
19:54can be
19:54your
19:54quarterback
19:55of the
19:55future
19:55starts
19:56with
19:56earning
19:56the
19:56job
19:56week
19:56one.
19:58And
19:59that's
19:59now
20:00kind
20:00of
20:01up
20:01into
20:01Shador's
20:02hands
20:02to go
20:02out
20:03and
20:03take
20:03the
20:03job.
20:04Prove
20:04something
20:04between
20:05now
20:05and
20:05whenever
20:05Todd
20:06decides
20:06to
20:06name
20:06the
20:07starter.
20:07Prove
20:08that you
20:08deserve
20:08to be
20:09that
20:09guy.
20:09You
20:09don't
20:09get
20:09to
20:09that
20:10point.
20:11Again,
20:11I think
20:11it's
20:12pretty much
20:12as likely
20:12as you're
20:13drafting
20:13a quarterback
20:14in 2027.
20:15That's
20:15where my
20:15thoughts
20:15and my
20:16focus
20:17will probably
20:17turn to.
20:18I'll still
20:18be interested.
20:19I'll still
20:19be intrigued
20:20when Shador
20:20comes to
20:20play.
20:21But in
20:21the back
20:21of my
20:22mind
20:22and probably
20:23outwardly
20:23through my
20:23mouth,
20:24I will be
20:24sitting here
20:25telling you
20:26Shador's
20:26probably not
20:27convincing
20:27the Browns
20:28in any
20:28way.
20:28You
20:28couldn't
20:28beat
20:28out
20:29Deshaun.
20:29Don't
20:29think
20:30you're
20:30beating
20:30out
20:30the
20:30guy
20:30they're
20:30looking
20:31to be
20:31their
20:31franchise
20:31quarterback
20:33in the
20:3327
20:34class
20:34if they
20:34have
20:34an
20:34opportunity
20:35to
20:35take
20:35one.
