00:06and his wife pleaded not guilty at the Seremban Sessions Court on Thursday
00:11to operating an unregistered private medical clinic.
00:14According to Sinar Harian, Dr. Azizul Hakim Mahdi and his wife, Noor Amira Rahmat,
00:22both 35, entered their pleas before Sessions Court Judge Shahrul Rizal Majid
00:28after the charges were read to them.
00:30The couple, who are company directors, were accused of jointly operating an unregistered private medical clinic
00:36in Taman Bandar Sernawang at about 11.30 a.m. on July 8.
00:42They were charged under Section 5, Subsection 2, Subsection A,
00:46of the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act, 1998,
00:51read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code for allegedly operating a private medical clinic
00:57that was not registered under Section 27 of the Act.
01:01The offence carries a maximum fine of 300,000 ringgit up to six years' imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.
01:09In a separate charge, their company was accused of operating the same unregistered private medical clinic
01:15under Section 5, Subsection 1 of the Act,
01:18which provides for a maximum fine of 500,000 ringgit upon conviction.
