00:12marlins 14th overall pick homer in his first at bat in jupiter joe which you could have seen i
00:19don't know why you didn't go you could have went to the game last night you live five minutes away
00:22from there he hit a home run in his first at bat and then his brother in his first major
00:29league at
00:30bat homers too and in fact i've told you the story that i know his parents very well and they
00:36were
00:37asked why didn't they go see jacob play his first game in jupiter and jacob said to his mom and
00:43dad
00:44what are you nuts you got to go see george play his first major league game and so they went
00:49and
00:50imagine being the parents there like what an amazing night to have both of your kids
00:55minor league debut major league debut homer in the same night man and by the way i think i saw
01:00the exit velocity and launch angle were exactly the same for both kids i mean this is crazy crazy
01:07stuff happening yesterday so we'll see what he does for an encore uh i i i'm shocked that he homered
01:13but i think what you saw early in the game joe with him that i think will play for the
01:18yankees and
01:19unfortunately it means i have to root for the yankees a little bit because to root i have to
01:22root for george so i have to root this this much for the yankees is that his defense is much
01:26better
01:27than volpe's his defense oh like night and day yeah yeah he's gonna help them a lot defensively
01:32yes night and day they did the yes network uh was in the stands and they did a couple of
01:38innings
01:39with his parents and you know detroit gave him the pass to actually go to yankee state because he
01:45should have been out on the west coast in seattle uh with the tigers but they did uh they allowed

01:50to go and i and i believe their mom was on her way to jupiter and had to change the
01:56tickets because
01:58she did they didn't they learned last minute that the yankees were actually calling him up
02:02and for the game so she was actually they were coming to jupiter to see his first game uh you

02:08with the marlins here and unfortunately uh you know the frequent flyer miles i'm guessing
02:15they went ahead and had to exchange that because we're going to the bronx instead so and kudos that
02:21they did uh pretty impressive stuff i listen i don't know what is the what is the brother play
02:28with tomorrow what position is he drafted he's also an infielder he's also an infielder so short
02:34stop maybe third base depending he's still young he could still grow and get bigger you know guys
02:39usually get bigger in the big leagues because now the weight rooms are more professional
02:43but yeah he was a great joe he was jacob lombard the younger the younger one he was a great

02:49player at gulliver they lived down in pinecrest and there was a time where he was playing exclusively
02:56soccer and like not playing with the baseball team and it was like pissing off the coach of the
03:01baseball team but he like loved soccer so much and it just came to the point where he and his
03:08dad and
03:08his family just basically like look if you plan on making major league baseball part of your life
03:12you're gonna have to commit like i'm big on all playing all the sports okay until you are like
03:18seven but at some point joe at like 17 18 you have to specialize on something not when you're 12
03:23or 13
03:23that's what the insane part about youth baseball is now is that all these kids are just specializing in
03:28one sport at nine and at 10 which is insane but when you get to 17 you do have to
03:33sort of make the
03:34choice as to what you think your future is going to be so eventually he did make the choice and
03:39he
03:39moved away from soccer uh to back to baseball but growing up in a major league clubhouse and being on
03:45the field with your dad all the time and he put a lot of work in i know uh through
03:50the years so
03:52i'm not surprised they both are in some way in major league baseball or minor league baseball but
03:58last night was flat out shocking to see that happen the way it played out like that i just i
04:04i was just
04:05so happy for them i couldn't believe it and well i mean i mean honestly uh joe top five story

04:10baseball this year what happened yesterday for those two it may be high maybe number one but one of the
04:14top stories of the year i agree uh turned a great double play uh and uh both i think the
04:21second and
04:22fifth so defensively hey he had an encore here tonight against st louis so we'll see if he follows that
