00:00Let's talk horse racing.
00:01We don't always talk horse racing, but the Triple Crown would be dead.
00:06Like, this is big news.
00:07I don't think enough people are talking about.
00:09And in our world, in the sports gambling, sports betting, horse betting world,
00:14this kind of stinks.
00:17What happened yesterday with the announcement of a new schedule
00:21that will essentially make the Preakness irrelevant.
00:25I'm not kidding.
00:26If you missed this, this is true.

01:08So the Triple Crown has been in danger for the last couple of years
01:15because the winner of the winner of the Derby has determined,
01:18hey, it's not worth risking the health of our horse to do a two-week turnaround to go to Maryland
01:25to go and run in the Preakness stakes.
01:27So we're going to hold our horse out and then we're going to run at the Belmont
01:31and that's going to be what we want.
01:33That's how we're going to do this.
01:34Well, yesterday the Triple Crown just became, they're, they're saying it's not dead, but
01:44it sure feels like no Derby winning horse will run the Preakness anymore after what was announced
01:51yesterday by Churchill Downs and the New York Racing Association.
01:56They announced a new six race series starting in 2027.
02:01In May of 27, the Kentucky Derby will run in its traditional spot in the first Saturday in May.
02:09Then the Belmont stakes will run in its traditional June 5th spot.
02:15But in the interim, they're going to run, they're going to run races that will stretch out
02:24all the way to September.
02:28The Preakness still will exist.
02:31Two weeks after the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness will run in May.
02:36But now if you're running in this, there's a $5 million bonus in this race series
02:42for a horse that wants to keep going and wants to run.
02:47You go into the Matt Wynn stakes, the Jim Dandy, the Travers,
02:51and then the new, a new Churchill Downs race will happen in September.
02:57This is in response to the fact that Golden Tempo and Sovereignty and Rich Strike all won
03:04the Derby and then turned around and they skipped the Preakness.
03:08And they said, you know what?
03:09We're just not doing it.
03:11We're not going to jump back in.
03:14Two weeks after the Derby has just become not possible for modern trainers.
03:20They've said, nope, we're not going to do it.
