00:02California Governor Gavin Newsom has privately expressed concerns about California's antitrust
00:08lawsuit seeking to block Paramount's $81 billion acquisition of Warner Brothers' discovery,
00:14according to the Wall Street Journal. Newsom told People, involved in the matter that blocking the
00:19deal could hurt employment in the state. While the attorney general has independent authority
00:24over the case, his office has also encouraged Attorney General Rob Bonta's office to pursue
00:29an out-of-court resolution. California and 12 other states filed the lawsuit earlier this month,
00:35arguing the merger would reduce competition and harm consumers. Representatives for the
00:41governor and the AG declined to comment. Paramount is seeking a November trial while the states want
