00:02you yourself are of Polynesian descent correct that's amazing what it being a
00:06part of this project mean for you it means the absolute most I mean I grew up
00:11on this album a lot of these artists I grew up listening to so a lot of them
00:15are one of my biggest inspirations and to be you know coming into this album
00:21with a message and storytelling it means like the world to me they were able to
00:26do it together and on such a platform with Disney it means the world is
00:29well that we can do this so loudly and proudly you have two songs on here as
00:34well the opening track which one we all know which is so iconic for Disney fans
00:40and for the Moana story what it being a part of that song being able to record
00:43it mean for you I mean thank you to Disney Dwayne Lauren Tiana Kayla for even
00:50trusting me by offering me that opportunity I remember when I first got
00:54the call and I was like you want me to do the cover it was really exciting and you
00:59know that song is not easy so I'm doing with Stan Walker I loved that we were
01:03able to challenge ourselves even more and vocally and what better way to
01:08record this record on indigenous grounds and doing it in New Zealand so that was a
01:13treat for me because I'm a big New Zealand lover and yeah I'm so grateful that the
01:19song came out the way it needed to Stan and I just kept pushing each other
01:23further and further vocally and I had to remember that I am a singer first being in
01:29a girl group I had to tuck myself a bit away of what I was first and then being
01:35able to showcase that on this record it was the perfect opportunity to do so my
01:38gosh love to hear all of that and strength of a woman yeah I mean what can
01:42you tell me about this song of a woman um strength of a woman I actually co-wrote that
01:48song with my baby sister her name is Regina Rochelle and my really good best
01:52friend LJ it just started from like a really honest conversation and I love
01:56sessions like that where it comes from a real place being that we are daughters of
02:02our in our family I am one of eight and she's the youngest girl so we have like
02:06different perceptions perspectives of like how we were raised so sometimes she
02:12has different challenges that she goes through me as the oldest so we were just
02:16able to share our stories together in that room and I was able to really
02:20listen to her of what it's like to be a strong woman and being that figure in
02:24your family being so dominant and carrying the family legacy through us
02:29girls and because that's what we grew up watching our mom be she was just always
02:32courageous always brave and never afraid so this kind of felt like an anthem to
02:36the women that we grew up watching or watched us
