00:00The political fallout over Prime Minister Kamala Prasad-Bissassa's remarks on Emancipation Day continues to intensify.
00:07A day after opposition leader Penelope Beckles condemned the Prime Minister's comments,
00:12former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has now weighed in,
00:15accusing Prasad-Bissassa of trying to blame the People's National Movement for growing public dissatisfaction.
00:22In a Facebook post, Rowley questioned whether the Prime Minister believes public frustration with her administration
00:28is simply the work of the opposition.
00:31He argued that many citizens are just reacting to their government.
00:36He wrote, quote,
00:37So the public expressing their open frustration at her failed, hateful and vindictive policies are the doings of the PNM,
00:45end quote.
00:46Rowley also accused the government of taking, quote-unquote,
00:49bread out of the mouths of tens of thousands of people, including children,
00:54before drawing a comparison to the French Queen Marie Antoinette,
00:58suggesting the Prime Minister appeared out of touch with the hardships facing citizens.
01:03The Prime Minister alleged that PNM members and supporters were responsible for and supported racist attacks against many on social
01:11media,
01:12saying those actions exposed what she described as a party's hypocrisy on national unity.
01:18Rowley rejected those claims, instead warning, quote,
01:21This woman poses a great danger to the social and racial stability of this country.
01:27She's out of control and needs to stop, end quote.
01:30The comments come amid mounting criticism from senior PNM members.
01:35Earlier, opposition leader Penelope Beckles described the Prime Minister's comments on Emancipation Day
01:40as shameful hate speech and called on her to face the media and answer questions on a range of national
01:47issues.
