00:13Dr. Rowley further said it took what he called an embarrassing collapse of the Privy Council to slow them down,
00:19even as he said they pushed back against the reasoning of the Nation's Court of Appeal.
00:24Dr. Rowley issued a statement the day after 69-year-old Star Sabga was released from a state detention facility
00:32and transferred to house arrest late Monday night.
00:35That development followed the decision last week by Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander to revoke the preventive detention orders against
00:44businessman Dominic Hadid and his wife Genevieve.
00:47The Homeland Security Minister said on Thursday that the investigation into a plot to assassinate the Prime Minister and members
00:54of her cabinet remains ongoing.
00:56The Homeland Security Minister further said that he has been assured by the TTPS that the Hadids will be the
01:03subject of continued monitoring and surveillance to ensure that the ongoing investigation is in no way undermined.
01:09Former Prime Minister Dr. Rowley, in his statement, posed questions to Prime Minister Kamala Pesad-Besessa.
01:16Dr. Rowley asked, what is the Prime Minister saying that she and her government for one whole month have been
01:23on the attack without evidence and could not lay at charge or defend their position of jailing people without charge
01:29in our country, that this fiasco is now left to some unnamed foreign jurisdiction?
01:35In a statement on Monday, Prime Minister Pesad-Besessa said, the Protective Services continue to demonstrate astuteness and diligence in
01:43their actions while maintaining the freedoms of all citizens.
01:48Dr. Rowley declared in his statement, quote, the government must end the state of emergency now, end quote.
01:54Dr. Rowley further said, quote, the Prime Minister must fire the Minister of Homeland Security and the Attorney General if
02:01she harbors any hope of restoring any respect from the right-thinking citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, end quote.
02:08Prime Minister Pesad-Besessa said in a statement on Monday that since the increase in American support to Trinidad and
02:14Tobago's protective services began last year,
02:16the nation has witnessed what she called a heightened unease and furor among those who have built their wealth and
02:23social status by upholding illegality and criminality to benefit their friends, families, and financiers,
02:30while simultaneously destroying the prosperity and happiness of law-abiding citizens.
02:36Dr. Rowley described the statement that the U.S. government is now helping Trinidad and Tobago in the fight against
02:42crime as being downright foolishness, as he said they have been doing so for decades.
02:47Dr. Rowley then said, quote, what is different now is the wholesale prostitution of our nation's sovereignty by this government
02:55in the hope of getting personal and political favors, end quote.
02:58The former Prime Minister concluded his statement by saying, stop wasting his taxes on lawyers who he said, quote, laughing
03:06at a foolish government that is enriching them whilst misleading the taxpayers, end quote.
