00:00DAP Secretary-General Lok Siu-Fuk says Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional could contest
00:05GE16 as allies if their Pact in Negeri Sembilan works.
00:09China Press reported that Lok viewed the August 1 state election as an experiment by both
00:15coalitions to test whether they could defeat Pakatan Harapan by working together.
00:19He said a BNPN victory in Negeri Sembilan could encourage both sides to pursue similar
00:25arrangements in future state elections and at the next general election.
00:29Lok said BN and PN appeared to believe that cooperation between them could secure the support
00:35of most Malay voters.
00:37But PH, he said, must prove that it can still win elections and that its opponents do not
00:42necessarily command the support of most Malay voters.
00:46The BNPN Pact, however, does not guarantee that both coalitions will retain the support
00:51they won in previous elections.
00:52The DAP Secretary-General remarked that politics cannot be calculated by simple arithmetic and
00:581 plus 1 does not always equal 2.
01:01Under the Negeri Sembilan electoral understanding, BN is contesting 25 seats, while PN is contesting
01:08the remaining 11, with PH going solo in all 36 seats.
