To help us figure out a cool, new way to do our faces this season, we called in Stila pro makeup artist Sarah Lucero. Her look of choice for fall? Metallic everything. Rather than bold and shiny though, Lucero used these shades in a radiant, daytime-friendly way. Soft, metallic hues on the eyes and lips provide a subtle glimmer rather than an overpowering gleam. So, press play, and be prepared to add a little pizzazz to your fall makeup routine.

00:06Hi, I'm Sarah Lucero, Global Artistic Director for Stila Cosmetics, and I'm going to show
00:11you how to take the metallic trend and bring it into fall, and show you how to do this
00:15look on my beautiful model lilac.
00:16Use a base for shadow that has a little bit of a metallic finish to it.
00:21What this will do is it almost helps everything else that goes on over it glide seamlessly.
00:26So, I'm taking this all over her lid, starting at the lower lash line, and just melting it
00:32and blending it upward.
00:33I love to wet my eyeshadows.
00:35We dip into a little bit more of that Merlot berry eyeshadow color.
00:40The water on the brush makes it go on a bit more glossy, and if you notice, my brush is
00:45really kind of remaining close to her lash line, and I'm just kind of stretching it across
00:49here and elongating her eye, so she's getting some shape and definition without any hard
00:54edges.
00:54Same color, and wrap it right under the lower lash line, and I always like to put a little
00:59extra pop of shimmer right in the center of the eye and almost look like she's got the
01:03perfect spotlight on her lids.
01:05This will even replace eyeliner.
01:07I call this wrapping the eye.
01:09When you use the same color that's on her lid underneath, you start to get this kind of
01:13like cool, monochromatic kind of eye makeup, and then I'll take my brush and blend it all
01:17together.
01:18When we're going for a soft, metallic eye makeup look like this, you want to do a strong, dark lash.
01:23So I'm going to use one of my favorite mascaras.
01:25It's called Stila Mile High Lashes Mascara.
01:28One of the tricks that I love to do backstage at Fashion Week is take my liner brush and
01:33apply mascara to it and literally just pop a little tint to those lower lashes.
01:39You can take a little extra layer right in the center.
01:41Now, for a really pretty nude, metallic lip, I wanted to bring in something that just kind
01:46of toned down the rest of her makeup.
01:48We're taking a gloss that has that multi-purl tone and applying it all over her lips.
01:53So now you can see how we've taken that softer, metallic trend and made it work for fall.
01:57There's something beautiful about having that kind of illumination and finish on every feature
02:01of buffets.
