00:00So Tropical Storm Bertha, it's still centered over parts of Far East Texas.
00:03It's moving west.
00:04Maxistane winds 40 miles per hour.
00:06It's kind of a minimal tropical storm with any additional weakening,
00:09which is inevitable as it continues to move west.
00:11We're going to see this step down from a tropical storm to a tropical depression.
00:16Overall, it's lopsided, deep convection way to the southwest.
00:19But there you can see the center of this pinwheel as the end of the loop kind of focuses it
00:25very close to Houston.
00:26That's the low-level center of circulation, and that is the center of the storm passing north of Houston right
00:31now.
00:31So here's radar.
00:32And, again, it's a nasty downpour right now in Houston with some very heavy rain at the moment.
00:38Again, we're dealing with a bit of a significant downpour there,
00:41low visibility and a quick inch of rain possible in Houston itself.
00:46Sustained winds, we are far from a tropical storm when it comes to any of these observations.
00:50You need 39 miles per hour sustained.
00:53It's a breezy time in Austin.
00:55Top wind gusts, though, earlier we had, well, a little more than 24 hours ago,
01:01we actually did hit 48 in New Orleans.
01:03A 24-hour window restricts that, so it was about 25 hours ago
01:07when New Orleans had that top gust of 48 miles per hour.
01:10Top gusts from here forward within that downpour near Houston.
01:13We can see a gust of 40-plus.
01:15And the eye path for Bertha continues to move west,
01:19stepping down to a tropical depression.
01:20Could even happen by 8 p.m. Eastern, 7 Central, with the new advisory coming in as weakening continues.
01:28Storm surge, one to three feet for some spots remaining here, well northeast of Tony's location.
01:33We had a widespread two- and three-foot storm surge along the central Gulf Coast.
01:37That was the most newsworthy part of this storm.
01:40But moving forward, beyond the significant downpour over Houston right now,
01:45we have a moderate risk of heavy rain pooling west.
01:48And I think the biggest concerns might be over the mountains of northern Mexico, southwest of Laredo,
01:51as the topography will squeeze out four-plus inches of rain for some tomorrow
01:56as this becomes a tropical rainstorm.
01:58So, let's go ahead and see if we can see a little bit of rain.
