00:00The world of tech sources telling Bloomberg that payment processing company Stripe and P.E. firm Advent have offered to
00:06buy PayPal for more than 50 billion dollars. Bloomberg's Ryan Gould has been following the story joins us now. And
00:11Ryan I know you're reporting back in February that Stripe had been basically poking around with PayPal. What difference does
00:17it make to now have potentially Advent part of this deal. I think it gives on the one hand a
00:21lot of credibility to Stripe. I think off the bat you would say any deal maker you speak to a
00:26banker to a lawyer that any private company looking to go out
00:29and buy a 50 billion dollar plus public company is going to have a pretty tough time of it. So
00:34I think on the one hand you could say that Advent really gives some credibility to toward Stripe's interest in
00:38bid. But I also think on the other side of it I think it really gets at something maybe we
00:42were just talking about on the antitrust front which is that I was on Carol and Tim's Businessweek radio show
00:46on Monday basically making the claim that we're now in the midst of a really really significant Trump induced deals
00:52boom. I mean you wouldn't really have seen this type of deal be contemplated I would say at least you
00:57know two years ago three years ago under Joe Biden.
00:59And you know this is going to be a very long road for these two companies as this goes ahead.
01:04I mean this is a 50 billion dollar plus company where you've got ostensibly its biggest competitor though it's private
01:11looking to acquire it with or without a private equity. I just think that that's going to give us you
01:16know be a tough time for regulators.
