00:00Hi there. Today we have some DVDs to go through. This is my Christmas DVD collection, not my
00:17movie collection, because I do have digital copies of movies and some VHS, I think. But
00:28we don't have a VHS player right now, so that one doesn't really count, I guess. But right
00:35here we have a list of our Christmas movies that we like to watch. I'm going to go through
00:47them one by one and show you what our favorite Christmas movies are and kind of talk about
00:56them a little bit. So first up is actually my favorite Christmas movie I think ever. It
01:05might be tied with one other one. And this is Santa Claus is Coming to Town. This is one
01:18of those old, I think it's from the 60s. I don't know if it says. But it's an old stop
01:29motion animated Christmas movie and it goes through the origin story of Santa Claus. So
01:42we start out with this postal worker and it's Fred Astaire. And he's getting all of these
01:50letters from kids asking all kinds of questions about Santa. Like why does he leave it in the
01:56stocking? Why is his name Chris Gringle? Why does he give it on one night? Like the presents,
02:04why does he only do it on one night a year? Why does he go through chimneys? And he goes
02:12through and tells the story of a young Santa Claus from the time he was a baby until he grows
02:19up to be Santa. This movie is so nostalgic for me and so lovely. And one of the lines that
02:29this winter warlock says cracks me up every time where he goes like suddenly, my whole
02:35outlook has changed from bad to good. And I just think that's such a funny, a funny line
02:44to show that he's not evil anymore. We have the Burger Meister Meister Burger. Is that what
02:50it's called? Yeah, Burger Meister Meister Burger. Jessica is a teacher. And my personal favorite
03:01character is Topper the Penguin. There he is. Right there. I love this movie. I always watch
03:10this movie every year every year. In fact, it is one of the first movies that I watch of
03:19the season. Next, we have a more like grown up movie. And this is The Holiday. This movie
03:33is so good. A little romantic comedy with Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and Jack
03:43Black. I forgot her name for a second. I actually am not a huge fan of Cameron Diaz's acting, but
03:51it all works together. And I feel like everyone's seen this one, but if you haven't, we have two
03:59women who are going through kind of like breakups and they're not satisfied with their lives at
04:07the moment. So they decide to do a house swap for the holidays. And Ingrid goes to LA. And
04:16oh, what is her name in the movie? Oh, I called her Ingrid. It's Iris. Iris goes to LA. And
04:22Amanda goes to this little cottage in England. I can't remember the exact city. And of course
04:33they meet men and have a little romantic journey with them. Okay, next we have Elf. Now a little
04:51bit of an unpopular opinion. I don't love this movie. I like to watch it sometimes. Um, not
05:01every year. But I have to take Will Ferrell in small doses. Um, that kind of comedy isn't
05:09my favorite. I prefer like witty and buns to like the like overly outrageous and kind of chaotic
05:21comedy that Will Ferrell does. But I do like to watch this movie every now and then. So I think
05:27maybe like last year or the year before, uh, we finally bought it on DVD. And I feel like everybody
05:37knows the story of Elf. What I can't believe, I don't know the year that this came out, but this
05:44came
05:44out so much sooner than I thought it did. Somebody said the year not that long ago. And I was
05:53so
05:53surprised and so shocked. Wow, I have no idea where to find years on DVDs. Absolutely no idea.
06:06I don't even see a year. I don't even see a year. But it was like 2003 or something. It
06:10was really
06:10similar to the How the Grinch Stole Christmas movie. Which spoiler is like in my top five movies
06:19of all time. But I couldn't believe it. For some reason I thought it came out much later than
06:25that. Okay, the next one is like a two-in-one movie. And that is Home Alone and Home Alone
06:372.
06:38Lost in New York. Sorry, that video has done a cut in it. I tried to swipe out of a
06:45text message
06:46and accidentally clicked on it. And apparently that makes everything stop recording. So there's
06:51no cut in there. So the quality won't be as crisp and good as it would have been if there
06:57were no cuts. But this is Home Alone and Home Alone 2. This is my husband's favorite Christmas
07:04movie. Home Alone. I watched it growing up. But I feel like you kind of watch the things
07:12that your parents like. So you'll notice I have a lot of the older like stop motion. There's some kind
07:23of
07:23huge truck outside. It's not trash day or recycling day. But there's a truck out there somewhere. It's making
07:32like whale noises. So you'll notice I have a lot of the stop motion movies because that's what my mom
07:41watched
07:41growing up. And she didn't really like Home Alone. So I saw it a couple of times growing up but
07:47I wasn't
07:48like the biggest fan of it. But my husband loves it. And oh my gosh I have another text message.
07:55I'm not
07:55gonna touch it. My husband likes it. And I like to watch it with them. And last year for Christmas
08:03or the year
08:03before I got him the two pack so we could watch it together. And then our DVD player which was
08:11an
08:11Xbox. What did he call it? Got the red button of death or something. It died completely. So we have
08:19to
08:20really finagle and use the laptop and look it up to the TV. It takes forever to watch DVDs. So
08:27we haven't
08:27really watched any of these this year. I guess we'll just get a new DVD player. Or buy them digitally
08:35but
08:35that's expensive. Home Alone is really cute. Everybody knows Home Alone. Everybody likes Home Alone.
08:44This kid. Oh what is his name? Macaulay Culkin. I saw there is a Nutcracker movie on Hulu. And it
08:58is like
08:59the ballet. And someone is narrating it. And the dancers are dancing. I didn't know it existed.
09:07And he is in that movie. He's like draw some wires and have you. I need to apologize if my
09:17throat sounds
09:18kind of weird. I still have laryngitis. I feel like you've heard it right there. I still have laryngitis.
09:25It's been two weeks. And I still don't feel good. I'm actually gonna cut again. Cut to clear my throat.
09:36Okay. This is the original Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This is just a classic.
09:45It's really short. It is only like, it's 1966. This one was easy to find. It's really short.
09:58It's like 30 minutes or something. But it's just so cute. And the way that they animate Macs is adorable.
10:09I love the Grinch. Absolutely love it. One of my favorite parts about Christmas is Grinch stuff.
10:16Okay. Next we have
10:21The Polar Express.
10:26I honestly
10:28don't know how I feel about this movie.
10:32I watch it
10:34just about every year.
10:37I enjoy it.
10:40But it's also like, oddly creepy.
10:45They made it kind of dark.
10:47And I feel like they didn't have to do that.
10:51And they added a bunch of stuff in.
10:54Like the guy on top of the train.
10:55That was just weird.
10:57And didn't need to be there.
10:59I felt like the
11:02the dolls
11:03the marionettes
11:07that scene didn't have to be there.
11:11And I don't know.
11:13There's something about
11:14also the way it's animated.
11:15I can't think of the word.
11:17But somebody brought it up with me the other day.
11:19And it's like
11:21when things
11:22oh there's not a picture close up
11:24when things are like
11:28almost human looking.
11:29But they're obviously
11:31not human looking.
11:33There's a word for it.
11:35And that's why it's so creepy
11:36the way they animated this.
11:39I like it.
11:40We watch it every year.
11:41I enjoy it.

11:45And he sings the song
11:46Believe in This.
11:47And it's just
11:49I think a magical song.
11:51And I think it makes the whole movie.
