00:06are the Yankees having a good year? On one hand, they have the second best record in the American League
00:12and the fourth best record in the sport. They have the number one run differential in the league. And they've
00:19done a lot of this without, in some combination, Cole, Rodon, Freed, and a lot of it without Judge, who
00:27obviously is super important.
00:28On the other hand, they're in second place to the Rays. They're grossly underperforming their Pythagorean numbers, which suggests they
00:37should be about five or six games better than they are. If they were, they'd be leading the American League
00:43East and not in second place. They kind of reopened the door by playing badly recently. They reopened the door
00:48to teams like Boston. They played badly to Boston. It opened their door. They played badly against Detroit. It opened
00:52their door. They played badly against Minnesota. It opened their, they're like, a lot of teams they probably wanted to
00:57trade with, they opened their doors.
00:58And said, no, you're still in it. Let us help you along. And so on one hand, they're the fourth
01:04best record in the major leagues and the second in the AL. And yet I feel like they've underperformed.
01:10Yeah, not great. I mean, overall, I'd say it's a C. I don't know whether we're hard graders or not,
01:16but, you know, look at it.

01:19Yeah, I mean, the two teams spent $700 million and to combine, they're under $500. Now, most of that's obviously
01:24on the Mets. I can't really claim that's a Yankee thing, but it has not been a great season, right?
01:30I mean, they're not near a 600 winning percentage, well below that. They're below a team that spends nothing. I
01:36know they do a great job, that team that spends nothing, but they should not be below the Rays.
01:41I mean, last year they were below the Jays, who had a great season. There's no reason to be below
01:45the Rays. That's not good. They're in the weaker league.
01:49They should have the best record in that league with the talent that they do have. Not a great season,
01:54not a great first half or first, what is it, 90 games or whatever it is at this point. Not
01:59great.
