00:43Kingsley on was great. Like a no-skip set, wasn't it? Yeah. Pixies is brilliant. There was
00:49Holsey yesterday as well. Yeah, Foo Fighters. It's a lot of just like classic bands. A great

01:06Okay, so let's talk about the new album. It came out last month. How has the response been so far?
01:11Yeah, it's been a great, great reaction. Like, a lot more than we thought it kind of was going to
01:17take us. But,
01:18you know, it's great to have, like, I think we've picked up a load of new fans and, you know,
01:22it's really nice to see new people at shows and stuff.
01:25Yeah. Yeah, it must be awesome when you can actually play these songs live, having written them, having kept them
01:31to yourself for so long.
01:32But not only just in front of any stage, it's like, you're going international.
01:36Well, yeah, yeah. It's, um, it's mad, isn't it?
01:40It's what we're doing, it's what we did it for.
01:41It's what we kind of, yeah.
01:43Yeah, it's amazing.
01:44How have you found the response in the UK versus overseas?
01:49It's been, like, we've done a few overseas festivals so far. And obviously, a lot of the time, because we're
01:54still quite new to, like, this market,
01:56people don't necessarily, like, know all the words. But still, it's been great to see people really, like, buzzing for
02:01it.
02:02But in the UK, it's just been really special. Like, the few shows we've done so far since it's been
02:06out, it's been, like, really nice to hear people singing along.
02:09And, like, yeah, I don't know, it's just been great.
02:12It's been really nice to see you describe the album yourself. I saw that you said part of it is
02:18inspired by that feeling of being in a doggy dog world.
02:21Yeah.
02:21Getting caught up in the grind, always feeling like you can never quite reach the expectation that you set for
02:27yourself, but also taking a bit of a step back and having a bit of acceptance.
02:30Why was it important for you guys to hone in on that?
02:33I think it's kind of, it's like getting something off your chest, in a way. You know, I think everyone
02:38has that kind of, that feeling.
02:40And you're kind of figuring out what you want to do. And I think, for us, writing about it and
02:45writing about something that everyone kind of can understand as well is really important.
02:51Because that's kind of, it connects you to everyone, doesn't it? And then the gigs feel that bit more, you
02:57know, special in that way as well.
03:00It's one of those messages that I think can really apply to anyone, but especially as an artist in this
03:05climate, it is incredibly hard and it is incredibly tough.
03:08So, it must be so nice to now be getting on the road and seeing it all sort of pay
03:12off.
03:12It's brilliant. It's very, yeah, very humbling as well. It's great.
03:17You're going to have to write about something new now for the next one to become that.
03:21Yeah.
03:22So, we recently saw you do the cover of Born Slippy and Mashing It Up with Harry Styles. I wanted
03:29to know what was the idea behind that? Why did that appeal to you?
03:32I don't, to be, I've been listening to that song. Which one? For American girls, for like, for ages. And
03:40I kind of, we thought like, let's do something of it, you know, like Papier maybe, and it's a great
03:46song and if we could do it in our style.
03:49And I think the covers we like are the ones, you know, when they kind of, like, mix them up
03:53and they add something else in there.
03:55Two artists that you wouldn't expect when it comes together in this weird, weird way.
03:58We tried it. We gave it a go. Yeah, I think it sounded all right.
04:02No, it came across great.
04:03Yeah, it was good fun. It was really good.
04:06There are two artists that sound completely different and sound like them. Like, you can hear that and know immediately
04:12who it is. You guys did a great job of making it sound just like you.
04:16Oh, thank you. When you went into the studio, was that something that you consciously thought, okay, how can we
04:21put our stamp on it or was it just natural?
04:24I think so, yeah. I think when we were deciding what song to choose and we set on, like, American
04:28girls, we were sort of learning the structure of it and then we were like, let's just kind of try
04:33and work it out as if we were writing a song right now.
04:35Because some of the, obviously, because it's like a pop kind of dance song, a lot of it was like,
04:40it's hard to get our heads around, like, what Harry was up to there.
04:43So we were like, okay, let's try and strip it back a bit and work it out in our own
04:47way.
04:48I think we approached it as like, if Kings of Leon were going to do this as a cover, or
04:51like U2 or something. Yeah, it was good fun though.
04:55Do you reckon you can take any of those things from that and integrate it into the songwriting process going
05:00forward?
05:00I think, like, even rhythmically in that song is probably sort of similar to what we're writing at the moment
05:07and stuff.
05:07And like, I think it's taking inspiration from those kind of songs. It's definitely like...
05:12I kind of wish it was our song.
05:14Yeah, yeah, it's annoying as not.
05:16If you had to do another weird cover of two different artists who on paper wouldn't really work together, who's
05:23the next one?
05:24What was the one we were going to do before Malcolm Wells?
05:30Was it a Bieber song?
05:31Was it one of them?
05:32I liked doing something outrageous and then probably people would think that we'd play it.
05:37Yeah.
05:37Like a different genre.
05:39Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:39It's a really tough question, I think.
05:40So, I've had to do it before quite a while.
05:42Could we try, like, a prodigy song?
05:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.

06:00tour coming up later in the year.
06:02What can we expect from that?
06:06I suppose it'll be the first time we're playing the album in full, I guess, isn't it?
06:10And bigger venues.
06:12We're just really buzzing for it, like, just to get back out on the road.
06:16I mean, it's the biggest tour I've ever done, so it'll be the best tour I've ever done,
06:19like it was.

06:23So you mentioned that you're writing new music.
06:26When can we expect to see that?
06:29Still quite early days, but we have been writing a lot.
06:31And I think with us, even though the album's only just come out, we're always kind of, like,
06:35on to the next thing, and it keeps you inspired and, you know, staying creative.
06:39So hopefully we'll get something together soon.
