00:00Last time on Battle on the Beach.
00:03This week, you'll be doing both guest bathrooms.
00:06Yikes.
00:07And we're throwing a bedroom into the mix.
00:10Three rooms in one week.
00:11Oh, no.
00:13This is a big, big bathroom.
00:15What if we split the room in half?
00:18Now we got two bathrooms.
00:20This is definitely some added value.
00:22You chose this?
00:23Yeah.
00:24I think this is pretty wild for you.
00:25I love it.
00:26I'm just really proud of you.
00:27We wanted to go wild in here.
00:29And then to do something even crazier, we're going to add wallpaper.
00:33Four different types of tile might be taking it overboard.
00:36This was one of the most difficult weeks of them all.
00:41Look at this wallpaper.
00:42You didn't expect that.
00:43Is it too specific?
00:44I think so.
00:46Oh, wow.
00:47This is fun.
00:48And the winner of this week's battle is...
00:53Sam!
00:55I think this is...
00:57Redemption, redemption.
00:58I'm feeling a little bit more nervous going into next week's challenge.
01:02We really need a win.
01:09All right.
01:10Our fleshy room.
01:12What's this?
01:13This looks interesting.
01:15I cannot keep up with all these curveballs.
01:17They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in an online listing, it could be worth
01:23a thousand dollars.
01:24This week's challenge is about creating a memorable space...
01:28That will have potential visitors clicking book now.
01:31Figure out what design and amenities are missing in your home...
01:34That will set it apart from the competition.
01:37This is your last chance...
01:38To create a scroll stopping moment.
01:41Your challenge this week is to turn this final bedroom into a multi-purpose bonus room.
01:50You guys know what's happening here.
01:51They're saying...
01:52No!
01:52Okay.
01:52This room has to become one of those things where, oh, we stayed at that house that's
01:56got blah, blah, blah.
01:58This has to be wow on pow pow.
02:00So what if we did a room for kids in here?
02:05Like a little coffee shop and a little pizza shop.
02:09A building.
02:11A little...
02:11Like actual structure.
02:13Right.
02:14Okay.
02:14That could be good, but it could also turn very, um...
02:18Children's museum?
02:19Yes.
02:22This could become the bunk room.
02:23What if we use that as a play area, because there's not windows, so it adds a little bit
02:28more room if we build up, like, a coffee shop, whatever, over there.
02:32And then we use this, like, U-shaped beds in this corner with trundles that come out.
02:39So we don't have bunks necessarily, but you can still have potentially six beds in here.
02:46I dig what you're saying.
02:46I think we have to lower our maturity level in here if we're going to really knock it
02:50out of the park.
02:51That's perfect.
02:51I already have a low maturity level.
02:54Same.
02:54Okay.
02:55All right.
02:56This is where we thrive.
02:59Marketing.
03:00How are we doing this?
03:01You guys have some experience.
03:03We do.
03:03She's the expert.
03:04Anna does this, the renovation business.
03:06So in our business, we started by buying houses.
03:09We fixed them up, and now we rent them out.
03:11I definitely do more of marketing business, and he is more of the builder.
03:15Yeah, so it's all about how it looks on camera.
03:19That's right.
03:19Photos, videos.
03:21So let's just go all out with this room.
03:23There are rainy beach days.
03:25Yeah.
03:25So when you can't be out there, you have to be in here.
03:28And so what can we provide to our guests to make it feel still fun and not like a day
03:32lost on vacation?
03:33Maybe a game room kid situation with beds in it.
03:38If we can market this as a game room slash bedroom, we just doubled the value of one.
03:45It's something that you don't have in your own home.
03:48It's got to be special.
03:49For sure.
03:52We have to see what we didn't do already in this house.
03:55So what nail did we not hit on the head, guys?
03:59Possibly an office space.
04:01Office.
04:01Yeah.
04:01Office is good.
04:02If you're going to do an office, then maybe we would think about putting a hideaway bed in
04:06here as well.
04:06So it still could be a bedroom.
04:08So you could have heads and beds.
04:09Yes.
04:10But then it could still have a dual function of being an office.
04:13Because not everybody wants to work on holiday.
04:15I understand.
04:15That is true.
04:15Just saying.
04:16What about a gym?
04:17What about an in-home gym?
04:19Oh my God.
04:19I would love a gym on vacation.
04:21That's a great idea.
04:22Okay.
04:23So thinking about gym, I don't really want to get completely rid of a bedroom.
04:28Yeah.
04:29Because you could still advertise this then as six bedrooms, which is incredible.
04:34But now you can also say it has a gym.
04:36Giving a ton of impact from the marketing perspective.
04:38This has got to be the cherry on the top.
04:40The cherry on the top.
04:41I love it.
04:48Hey guys, it's the Kalamas.
04:50We set up something to help inspire you for the bonus room battle.
04:54Go meet Ty at the workshop.
04:56Hi.
04:57Hey guys.
04:58Hi.
04:59We all thought it would really be good for you guys to check out a home renting at top market
05:04value.
05:05What makes them so different?
05:06What makes them beat the competition?
05:08The things that make it different is the reason why they're getting booked more than some of the other places
05:13on the beach.
05:14Let's take a bike ride.
05:16Come on.
05:17All right, teams, you ready?
05:19Yeah.
05:20Let's ride.
05:22Come on, guys.
05:32So guys, go Torrent, and I'll be waiting outside.
05:35Come on.
05:40Let's ride.
05:41Let's ride.
05:43Let's ride.
05:54Come on, guys.
06:01Oh, that is so cute.
06:04That is nice.
06:05The bunk room.
06:09Ooh, cute.
06:11Walkie bar.
06:11Wow.
06:12Holy cow.
06:13Ooh.
06:17Great ideas, but hard on budgets.
06:20Oh, yeah.
06:21Ooh.
06:23Oh, that's cool.
06:26Going into that downstairs room, it brought me back to being a kid.
06:29Like, I just wanted to sit and enjoy myself for hours.
06:33Did you see the beach gear over there?
06:35Ooh.
06:36And I really like the number of people that sleep here.
06:39They actually have enough equipment and things for everybody.
06:42It's very simple, but it makes a big statement.
06:44Hi, you guys.
06:45What do you guys think of the house?
06:47Amazing.
06:47Very cool house.
06:48So pretty.
06:49So in, like, the short-term rental space, and especially Myrtle Beach,
06:52there's a lot of competition.
06:54And so when you have something like this, it looks different.
06:58So this is your leader photo, kind of?
07:00Yes.
07:00This is my, like, head photo that I advertise with most.
07:03So when you guys are designing, just think about, you know,
07:05what is going to be that what you add that will stop the scroll?
07:10I do believe we have some ideas that we'll get that scroll stopper sort of thing.
07:15Can we continue to try and think outside the box?
07:18That's going to be ongoing until the very end.
07:20Yes.
07:21In the summertime, which is our peak season here in Myrtle Beach,
07:24this property will bring in, like, $10,000 a week.
07:27Wow.
07:27We heard from the owner that it rents out for $10,000.
07:30I was shocked because this house, it was very well done, but it was not that big.
07:34It was small.
07:35But the amenities really set you apart.
07:43This has got to be a wow factor.
07:45We've got to put everything we have into it.
07:47Yeah, we want to make the judges just stop and want to be in this space.
07:51After touring that rental, we know renters aren't just booking a place to sleep.
07:54They're looking for a memorable experience.
07:56That's why we've decided to add a full wall mural that can act as a selfie backdrop and scroll stopping
08:01feature in the listing photos.
08:03We're sticking with the game room idea because we think families with kids will prefer rentals with built-in entertainment.
08:08We don't want to lose sleeping space, so our new centerpiece is a custom ping pong table that converts into
08:13a queen size bed.
08:14So you can switch from game room to sleeping area in minutes.
08:17We think this will make the room more memorable than a regular guest bedroom
08:20and could be the reason a renter chooses our property over another.
08:25We really got to make sure this room photographs well.
08:29Yeah.
08:30That's the fun challenge of vacation rental because somebody's not living here full term.
08:34So people want something different than their normal house.
08:38Yeah.
08:39It definitely makes the dining more fun.
08:41I feel like I can just kind of do weird stuff and it's like more accepted.
08:53After seeing how custom design elements help that rental stand out online, we know we're on the right track.
08:59We're moving forward with the built-in trundle beds.
09:02But instead of pretend shops, we're going to create something that is a little more on theme with our house
09:07and location.
09:08A lifeguard tower.
09:09Standing out means taking bold design chances.
09:12And we're hoping this ultimate kids room becomes the kind of feature that makes families get excited about booking this
09:18house.
09:20Take this.
09:21Okay.
09:22And put it right here.
09:24Here.
09:24And put it into the closet.
09:26All right.
09:27You guys stressed me out, bud.
09:28Love you.
09:28Goodbye.
09:29Love you.
09:30Bye.
09:36See if we can see what we're working with.
09:39Not that bad.
09:40No, not bad at all.
09:42All right.
09:43The vacation home tie showed us sparked our creativity.
09:46And we want to build something that we've never seen before.
09:49A multipurpose room with both a Murphy bed and a Murphy gym.
09:54As gym rats ourselves, we think renters who prioritize fitness won't want to break their workout routine on vacation.
10:01And this gym gives them a reason to book our home over others that don't offer that option.
10:11I do like that one.
10:14On the wall where we're building a lifeguard stand, we're also going to add some playful wallpaper to help create
10:19that memorable photo for the listing.
10:22Knowing that we went with this one in the bathroom.
10:25Mm-hmm.
10:26I'm afraid that it'll be busy on busy.
10:30I know technically they're not in the same areas, but my mind says something more like that.
10:36Stingrays?
10:37Stingrays, yes.
10:38Or actually, you know what one I really do actually think is that one.
10:43Behind the wall of the lifeguard tower, I feel like it's subtle, sunsetty, pink with the seagulls.
10:50Okay.
10:51Okay.
10:52Agreed.
10:52All right.
10:54Knock, knock.
10:55Hello.
10:56Oh, hi.
10:56Hey.
10:58Mmm, the aroma of fresh paint.
11:01We're doing white ceilings, mostly white walls, and then we're going to do kind of a strip of blue here
11:08that goes on the ceiling and the walls.
11:10What's your thought process on picking that color?
11:12I think it goes with the other colors in our house.
11:14We have some greens and blues and some reds, a little peak of red, which I'm actually going
11:19to do a mural on this wall in red.
11:21A big old fish.
11:23Oh.
11:23Yep.
11:24Okay.
11:24It'll be like, it's like a pen paint marker.
11:28Okay.
11:28So it'll be thin lines.
11:29The whole wall won't be red.
11:31Obviously, this is the room that's got to be like where your branding is very obvious.
11:36It's going to make this house, you know, bookable.
11:38Did we tell you about the ping pong table?
11:40Bed?
11:41What the heck is a ping pong bed?
11:43We don't know if it's going to work.
11:51Did we tell you about the ping pong table?
11:53Bed?
11:53First of all, never seen that before, which maybe for a reason.
11:59Uh-oh.
12:00The ping pong bed idea, it has to be classy.
12:03It can't look like a makeshift piece of furniture.
12:06I'm a little bit concerned.
12:07The idea is there's a ping pong table in here, middle of the room.
12:11I love that.
12:12The size of an RV short mattress.
12:15And then you pull up the ping pong table like a hot tub lift.
12:19Okay.
12:19And it becomes the headboard of the bed.
12:22Oh, okay.
12:23So it's basically dual functionality, which is what we said this room has to be.
12:26Yes.
12:27It's a surprise wow factor.
12:29I just hope they can pull it off.
12:34Steven, what do we got?
12:36I want to create a custom Murphy Gym.
12:39Basically a home gym that has so many different workouts, you know what you can do.
12:44All the equipment would be kept inside a built-in cabinet that can be opened up and turned into a
12:48full gym.
12:49Yeah.
12:52To come up with the design for this Murphy Gym, it's different, kind of out of my element.
12:56But I'm just excited to be able to take something that I love doing and apply it at home.
13:01Now he has to put on the leader pants, take charge, and I love that.
13:07This is a beauty.
13:08I like what I see.
13:10This feature can make the house an instant book for renters who don't like to break their gym routine on
13:15vacation.
13:15What I really want to do is I want the doors to have some kind of pop to it.
13:20We just got to think about time because the time is definitely not on our side.
13:24I think definitely staying in it is going to be, you know, a go.
13:27Make it beautiful.
13:33We are laying out...
13:35What do you want to call it?
13:36Trundle U-shaped party room.
13:39Okay, we can work on the name.
13:41Yeah.
13:42The bed will come out here.
13:44Okay.
13:45And then the trundles will pull out.
13:47From both directions.
13:48If they're small people, we could do two trundles.
13:50They're not going to be real wide because the whole twin mattress that's underneath this bed is not going to
13:54be able to pull out.
13:55If they don't need one of them, one can stay under and one can completely pull out.
14:00Okay.
14:00We are taking a little bit of a risk.
14:02Because the trundle beds can't both fully be extended, which could be confusing for renters.
14:07But two small kids can sleep here with both trundles partially out.
14:11Or one larger guest can use one fully extended trundle.
14:15We're hoping the judges see that the added sleeping capacity outweighs the trade-off in functionality.
14:29That would be like the top of the lifeguard tower.
14:32The idea is a lifeguard...
14:34Tower.
14:35Tower.
14:35Get you scroll stopping.
14:37Somebody call a lifeguard!
14:41I understand you guys are in distress.
14:43We are in distress.
14:44We are in distress.
14:45Wow.
14:46What seems to be the problem, man?
14:48Building a lifeguard stand in a room that's got seven-foot ceilings is going to be a challenge, to say
14:55the least.
14:56So when you walk in the door, this is going to be right here.
14:58Right here.
15:00So this is the top deck of the lifeguard.
15:02That's right.
15:03Would this be the ramp that goes down then?
15:05Over here, yes.
15:05About in here.
15:07And it's in the closet.
15:08It's in the closet.
15:09Looks like it's coming out of the closet.
15:11Okay.
15:11We have storage in our trundle.
15:13And we're still thinking about putting little dressers on the ends of these.
15:18So we're making sure that there's adequate storage.
15:21Okay.
15:22Even though the closet may not be as accessible.
15:25Functional, yeah.
15:26Functional.
15:26So am I behind this idea?
15:28Look, it could be cute.
15:30This is the room where people are going to want to post pictures of how amazing it is.
15:33Because we're going like very heavy on the theme, obviously my outfit suggests the same thing.
15:39It's very theme-y.
15:41Yes.
15:41So it can work or just like my outfit can also not work.
15:46I think it's too late to turn back though.
15:48It's like we've gone out past the breakers and now like we got to keep swimming.
16:03We need this flooring to be durable for the gym equipment without sacrificing designs.
16:08Tell me when it closes.
16:09Yeah.
16:09So we're installing a sturdy LVP that's also easy to clean.
16:14Come on there.
16:16Boom.
16:17In.
16:18Yes.
16:19I love how you trust me that you know I'm not going to hit your finger.
16:23Hey.
16:24Looks really great.
16:32This is the attempt of the ping pong bed build.
16:34Seven years ago.
16:35Will it come together?
16:36I don't know.
16:37Do we have a vision and a brain?
16:39Yes.
16:39We do, but it's definitely a real risk.
16:42In the thing.
16:43It's kind of wild.
16:44So this will go about in the middle of the room.
16:47Not exactly sure where yet.
16:50So basically my vision was when this is all the way up, it's like ping pong level height.
16:55This kind of hydraulic scissor lift will kind of depress.
16:59And then the bed will be normal height.
17:01Do it.
17:02Do it.
17:02Do it.
17:05You're going to break it.
17:10That's pretty cool.
17:12The tricky thing with this ping pong bed is I don't think it's been done before.
17:15So we're kind of creating an idea from scratch.
17:19We don't have much money left because this is our last interior space.
17:22So we got to make everything count.
17:24There we go.
17:26Whew.
17:29It's too wobbly.
17:31How can we sure this up?
17:34It's wobbly this way.
17:36This isn't like wide enough.
17:38Mm-hmm.
17:39I already know when the judges come in, they're going to test this bed.
17:42And if it is like sloppy or doesn't fold over very cleanly, I think we're going to get dinged for
17:48that and that could drop us to the bottom of the pack.
17:54And when it's up, it's a little too wobbly.
17:57We need to order longer legs so that when it's bed, it's like extremely secure.
18:03When it's up ping pong height, I think we need to do like some swinging legs.
18:09Yeah.
18:09Either just two or four so that it's not as wobbly because I don't like that.
18:14It's a little clunky, but hopefully once it's all done, it'll be.
18:19No, there's a vision.
18:20Like before we started messing with this, we didn't even know if it was possible.
18:24Yeah.
18:25Now I'm like, it's definitely possible.
18:26We just got to like fine tune the things that aren't that good.
18:29We need to order some more materials, buy some new table legs.
18:32So we definitely have a few things to do, but we're getting there.
18:46That ain't gonna work.
18:52Um.
18:54What would you like to call?
18:55Don't you have something you could be doing?
18:58Nope.
18:58You're in my way.
19:01Going over our lifeguard tower designed with Ty.
19:04He is so hesitant.
19:05He just can't see it.
19:07But we're still doing the lifeguard tower.
19:11Be careful.
19:12Remember, this is how you broke your arm.
19:14Last day of gymnastics.
19:17Yeah, this is made just for me.
19:22You want some help?
19:23Sure.
19:24Definitely could use some help.
19:25Because I don't like just standing around.
19:26I feel like I'm here for a reason.
19:28Yeah.
19:29This is the stop and scroll right here.
19:31I love it.
19:32All right.
19:32So what you're standing is the right door to the Murphy's Gym.
19:37All right.
19:39Inside the spot you're standing is going to be some resistance bands, probably a couple yoga mats.
19:45Just things that, you know, don't have a lot of bulkiness so that they can be stored properly.
19:50Yep.
19:50I think you guys have done a great job of having dual purpose.
19:54Yes, definitely.
19:55In this space.
19:56A gym allows a property to be more bookable.
19:59It increases the overall value of a property always, and also the Murphy bed.
20:04So we don't want to forget that heads and beds are what really brings up the rates.
20:09This is looking good.
20:25I think I've made the executive decision to wallpaper back here.
20:28With this little opening and this big opening here, it's a very clear view to the back of that.
20:34As long as I don't do it, I don't care.
20:36You look pretty good in there.
20:42She big.
20:43She's big.
20:45Did you line this up with a stub?
20:47I did, but I got to hit it.
20:53Yeah, I hit it.
20:54We love it.
20:56Yeah, the wood budget for the lifeguard tower probably, that whole room has a lot of wood.
21:04Any child going to knock this baby over?
21:09I don't think any grown adult is going to knock this baby over.
21:25We're going to go a little wider.
21:26So right there.
21:28There's a lot of intricate details happening.
21:33The Murphy Gym is fun and unique, but we also have to make a functional, comfortable, and beautiful bed.
21:38So it is an afterthought.
21:39This is where we're going to get all our, you know, bookings.
21:42We have to make sure this room is in tip-top shape.
21:54This body's room is coming together.
21:56All right, let's test it.
21:57Puppy works.
21:59Do you feel like it's a two-person job?
22:02I guess so.
22:03It's plywood's heavy.
22:03And then you use the lift.
22:09Bam.
22:10Poor headboard.
22:11Then, when it's time to sleep, you drop it down.
22:20We're using, like, this hot tub lift, which it's not meant to lift plywood, but we're trying to, like, repurpose
22:26it in different ways.
22:27So when somebody is, like, vacationing here and they don't know how to operate this, we have to print out
22:33some kind of instructions that could be simple that anybody could just figure out how to use this first time.
22:39Same with the judges.
22:40Obviously, they're going to walk in here.
22:41I feel like we'll have it as a ping pong table when they walk in.
22:44I mean, obviously, you're going to see this large, ugly thing here and be like, what is this thing?
22:51Yeah.
22:51I think we should paint.
22:52All right.
22:53Time's are ticking.
22:55Painting the ping pong table is really pulling the colors from the rest of the house and make it cohesive.
22:59And it didn't cost any extra money to do that.
23:01It was just as simple as taping it out, and it really adds, like, a dramatic effect.
23:06So with this mural, I first drew it out on a piece of paper, and then I'm going to use
23:10a projector and put it up on the wall so that I can just trace it there.
23:14But, yeah, I drew the fish myself.
23:15It's a little sunfish, which I think is maybe local to the area.
23:18I'm not too sure.
23:19But, yeah, it was a lot of fun.
23:31I can't really get a read if it's a win or a loss here.
23:42All right, guys, we got two hours to finish this.
23:45Oh, my God.
23:47Wow, you guys literally did it.
23:50The tower is enormous, and it fits somehow in this room.
23:54And that is a big feature.
23:56I've been sort of against this whole thing along the way, but maybe they actually pulled off a miracle.
24:01Uh-oh.
24:03Oh.
24:04Talk about a flotation device.
24:10Mayhem.
24:12So much wrapping.
24:21Okay, this is literally how it would be for me.
24:23Be like, all right, good night, Todd.
24:24Bye-bye.
24:26All right.
24:27Let's go.
24:27Go team.
24:28Let's go.
24:28Go team.
24:30This is going to look tight doing this race to finish.
24:33I don't know how we are going to put all this together.
24:39That looks nice.
24:44The handle came off.
24:46Babe.
24:50It looks like we got draped.
24:52I'm always painting last minute.
24:57Last drape.
24:58All right, goodbye, neighbors.
24:59For real.
25:00One hour left, guys.
25:04One hour.
25:05Aye, aye, aye, aye, aye.
25:07I think the judges will praise us for being, like, creative and our ingenuity and just trying something new.
25:13There was a lot of brain power to try to figure this out and just get all the materials in
25:18one week.
25:19Thankfully, the new legs came in and the ping pong bed is feeling much more stable.
25:22Shazam.
25:24What is the regulation height of the ping pong net?
25:27Man, you get real technical, Eric.
25:30I've never played ping pong, but I'm a start.
25:33I feel confident the ping pong bed will work, but I'm afraid the judges might think there's too many steps
25:38in the process.
25:39Step number one, take off the net, okay, lift the legs, flip half the table back and pull up like
25:49a hot tub cover.
25:50Click down arrow on remote to bring bed down to bed height.
25:55I think the only concerns I have going into judging is the ping pong table might be more successful with
26:01an actual tutorial video, not just written instructions.
26:05So that might cost us this win.
26:08Oh, we're about to hit each other.
26:10And see where you get in bed?
26:11There's no creaks.
26:12All right, now get back up because we have 35 more minutes to get the room done.
26:16Hey, Ty.
26:17Yeah?
26:18You gonna play in there later?
26:21That's kind of creepy and I love it.
26:2920 more minutes.
26:30Hey, faster.
26:31You guys have 20 minutes left.
26:32I gotta go to the beach because it's on.
26:35I gotta get going.
26:36We'll see you on the beach.
26:41All right, see you.
26:43Thanks for your help.
26:45I am gonna hit that on the ceiling.
26:48We did it.
26:49Sydney's vision came to life.
26:52Finished.
26:53Let's go to the beach.
26:54All right.
26:59Welcome back.
27:00Welcome back.
27:01I love seeing you guys every week.
27:03I love seeing you guys every week.
27:06You're nearing the finish line.
27:09You have completed your second to last challenge.
27:13The scroll stopping bedroom.
27:15Yes.
27:16We'll be looking at booking power, functionality and design.
27:21So let's find out who's taking home this battle's $3,000 cash prize.
27:27Team Mika, you're up first.
27:29Come on, guys.
27:30Go get them, Mika.
27:31Let's go.
27:34Come on in.
27:36What?
27:43Ooh.
27:45A game room.
27:46Game room.
27:47Hey.
27:48Hey.
27:52With this bedroom being on the first level, it was like, how do we give a little extended entertainment on
27:58a rainy day?
27:58You know, maybe you can't go out to the beach all the time.
28:00That's true.
28:01Did they build this ping pong table?
28:03Amazing.
28:03That's really cool.
28:06Meet our fish Henry.
28:09That's his name.
28:09Hi, Henry.
28:10Hand drawn.
28:11Hand drawn by Anna.
28:13Again, she's putting her artistic.
28:15Very artistic.
28:16Okay.
28:16I mean, the big tic-tac-toe over there.
28:18That's fun.
28:19I did notice that.
28:20But I think I would have liked to see some more games.
28:25Okay.
28:25Different, not just one thing.
28:27Like, maybe darts.
28:28I don't know.
28:29You have chess.
28:29Yeah, with that chess.
28:30We would use that.
28:32We would also use ping pong, but I'm like, do we, is this better as a bed?
28:37Like a bedroom?
28:38I mean, that.
28:38The only thing better than that is if it is a bedroom.
28:40That's why this fits us.
28:42This turns into a bed.
28:43Okay.
28:44What are we doing?
28:44Tristan, you can read the instructions over there.
28:47Okay.
28:48Take off nuts and lift the legs.
28:51Bada bing, bada boom.
28:52I shall take that.
28:54Yeah.
28:54Okay.
28:55Flip it.
28:56Booyah.
28:57Wow.
28:58Yeah.
28:59It's going down.
29:02Hydraulics.
29:02Ay, ay.
29:03And then this flips back.
29:05And then that just flips all the way back.
29:07Okay.
29:08Is that the headboard?
29:09Damn.
29:10This is.
29:11There you go.
29:11Wow.
29:13So they actually built this themselves.
29:15Wow.
29:16Insane.
29:17They engineered it.
29:18It fits you.
29:19Yeah, it still fits me.
29:20Does it feel sturdy?
29:21It's sturdy.
29:22Okay.
29:22Comfortable.
29:23I could definitely sleep here.
29:25I can fit on any bed.
29:26All right.
29:27Okay.
29:28And then you wake up to Henry.
29:30Who?
29:30You get a view of Henry while you're sleeping.
29:32This is our selfie wall.
29:34Yeah.
29:37Only thing I would say is because it took two of you, I can go tutorial along with the instructions.
29:43Easy fix?
29:44Yes.
29:45This is cool.
29:46Yeah.
29:46This is really cool.
29:47This is something that will stay in my brain forever.
29:49You know what I mean?
29:50And that's what you want.
29:52Ping pong later?
29:53Yes.
29:54All right.
29:54Good job on this one.
29:55We may or may not love ping pong.
29:56Yeah.
29:58That means you're probably good at it.
30:02Oh.
30:03Okay.
30:04Wow.
30:06Wow.
30:09We have one.
30:10You guys mentioned a room that might have a few more beds.
30:14Three.
30:15You guys listened.
30:16Wow.
30:17It may look like three beds.
30:19It does look like three.
30:20But those are trundles.
30:21I was going to say.
30:22Yeah, you got two more underneath there.
30:24They may meet in the middle.
30:25Yeah.
30:26But that's okay.
30:27Yeah, they got five.
30:28And then this.
30:29So yeah, this.
30:30Please explain this to me.
30:32So this is a lifeguard tower.
30:34And we've actually had.
30:36It's a lifeguard tower.
30:37I see lifeguard stuff right there.
30:39So they wanted a space that, as you guys know, this room is about, you can do a social post.
30:43This is a wow.
30:45A wow room.
30:46Like you stop somebody scrolling.
30:47Look at this.
30:48That's amazing.
30:49You can stand.
30:50That's what works with you.
30:50Yeah.
30:51But like.
30:51You guys look really good down there.
30:53This is a kid's dream.
30:54My daughter would love this.
30:56This is a kid's dream.
30:56It just hits you in the face right when you open the door.
31:00It kind of makes this space feel really small and tight.
31:04But it's because you have all of these beds.
31:07Yeah.
31:08That this space works.
31:10If you didn't have all of this storage.
31:11It even continues down there.
31:13There's like slumber time down there.
31:15And like you can read a book or watch, you know, whatever you want.
31:18I like the wallpaper.
31:20I think wallpaper is an easy way to just add a fun design element.
31:24Right.
31:24I did notice that this is where the closet would have been.
31:28Yes.
31:28Or was.
31:29Right.
31:29For the room.
31:30So yeah.
31:31The closet is no longer.
31:32It's a lifeguard stand now.
31:34Yeah.
31:34But I see that they put these built-in dressers.
31:40Yeah.
31:41And I don't know if it's enough for five people.
31:43That's what I was going to say.
31:45Is it enough storage?
31:47Probably not.
31:48But at least they tried.
31:49I think it's anybody who's got kids realizes this is a win.
31:53I think that's why I was like, you really want to build something this big in here.
31:57Yeah.
31:57I was like, that is committing to that one type of renter.
32:02Right.
32:02But it could also be teenagers.
32:05I mean, there's still long beds in here.
32:07True.
32:07I mean, the beds are big, but they have to be willing to live with the lifeguard tower.
32:12Yeah.
32:12So on the downside, you've really made it a little bit smaller your rental pool, right?
32:18Yeah.
32:19Because if they don't have kids, I'd have a difficult time getting a teenager to stay in this one.
32:24To stay in the lifeguard room?
32:26Right.
32:26Yeah.
32:26All right.
32:29Very, very interesting.
32:33But I think-
32:34I love how, like, I can't really get a read if it's a win or a loss here.
32:38That's the-
32:39Right.
32:39You'll never know.
32:40Okay.
32:40Yes.
32:40I'll see you guys at the beach.
32:41All right.
32:42Yeah.
32:46Oh.
32:47Workout room.
32:48Workout room.
32:52Not just a workout room.
32:54Okay.
32:55I'm like, this opens up so that closes.
32:58Yes.
32:59So we did a Murphy bed and gym combination.
33:03Wow.
33:05For sure.
33:05He may have invented the Murphy gym.
33:08The Murphy gym.
33:09Yes.
33:09The Steven gym.
33:10So we made it, obviously, everything can store away.
33:14You can just roll basically out of the way, close the doors, and then flip down the bed.
33:19This pulls down for a bed.
33:20This pulls down.
33:21So we still have a small nightstand.
33:22We still have a closet for storage.
33:24So you can actually, if somebody rents it as a bedroom, take everything, tuck it in the closet.
33:29Got it.
33:29And you bring down the bed.
33:30It still has the bathroom that you saw last week.
33:33Yep.
33:33Without the bed, wouldn't have worked.
33:36But if you're on vacation.
33:38Yeah.
33:38Do you want to have to close something like this?
33:43Move all the stuff.
33:43Move everything to get your bed.
33:45Yeah.
33:46That's, like, kind of the only thing.
33:48Like, do you want to have to work to sleep?
33:50Exactly.
33:51Yeah.
33:51I mean, that's the only thing.
33:53It's just clunky.
33:54It's just big.
33:55Yeah.
33:55And it's not going to go anywhere.
33:56So that's the only thing, like, we committed to this being a dual gym and bedroom.
34:01Yeah.
34:02I will say, though, for the workout fanatics, they will book it because they have the ability
34:08to work out and have a gym.
34:09That's what I was going to say.
34:10I think so, too.
34:10I think the home is big enough with enough bedrooms.
34:12And we've added the additional bedroom on the main floor.
34:16So this is one of those when you're scrolling and you say, wait a minute.
34:19Yeah.
34:20That has something different.
34:21I don't have to pay for a membership somewhere else.
34:23Super, super unique.
34:24And, I mean, I am a workout person.
34:27So that is definitely going to cause me to want to stay here.
34:31Aesthetically, it's not that interesting or pleasing on the eye.
34:35Because, yes, they are two bulky, dark wood boxes.
34:40But I think that this room really isn't about design.
34:45It is really function and appealing to the workout guy, like me.
34:50Yeah, I really like it.
34:52The dual purpose is a win, for sure.
34:54Yeah.
34:55I think we've seen everything.
34:56You can head back to the beach.
34:58You guys can get a workout in while you're delivering.
35:01There we go.
35:01I might take you up on that.
35:07Okay.
35:09That was fun.
35:10That was fun.
35:11And each space had something special.
35:14Yeah.
35:14So.
35:15Mika space.
35:17I love ping pong.
35:19I love a game room.
35:20It did also double as a bed.
35:23Well, I think that is the coolest thing about the room.
35:25But it's not that easy to turn into a bed.
35:29I agree.
35:30Thai space.
35:31Walk into what?
35:34Life-size lifeguard station.
35:36A lifeguard station.
35:37Yeah.
35:37Yeah.
35:37So I loved it.
35:40And then they also had a lot of areas to sleep.
35:45Yes.
35:45It's catered towards kids.
35:48But those areas were big enough for anybody to sleep on.
35:51That's what I'm saying.
35:52But where the lifeguard tower was, it took out all the storage.
35:56Correct.
35:57And then you're walking right into it, so it's kind of a narrow space.
36:00It does hit you.
36:01Yep.
36:02Okay, so Sarah's.
36:03The Murphy Gym.
36:05To have that easily at your house, you don't have to go to the gym.
36:10Yeah.
36:10That is definitely a bonus.
36:12That's a huge win.
36:13But I just don't know if they're interested in folding and putting all that stuff away.
36:18That's what I was going to say.
36:19I don't know if people want to do that.
36:20I agree.
36:22So, you want to go tell them?
36:24Let's go.
36:24Let's go.
36:30All right.
36:32Yeah.
36:32Yeah.
36:33Yes.
36:35You all got really creative with this week's battle.
36:40You guys definitely created spaces that will catch people's attention.
36:49Team Mika, we toured your space first, so we're going to start things off with you.
36:55So, when we walked into your guys' room, a holy game.
37:02Tic-tac-toe, chess or checkers, massive ping pong table.
37:08It was.
37:08It opened up to a...what size bed was that?
37:12It's an army queen.
37:14So, it's a short queen.
37:15Yeah.
37:16You guys created that thing.
37:19That is crazy.
37:20Well, I need to know what the name of it is.
37:23So, you guys really built a ping pong table that's a bed?
37:26Yes.
37:26They did it.
37:26Instead of a futon, it's a foo pong.
37:29Ooh, I kind of like that.
37:30You all a foo pong.
37:31I think the only downside was Mika and I turning it into the bed.
37:38Guests might not want to go through all of that to sleep.
37:42And then I saw your work of art on the wall.
37:45You hadn't sketched that.
37:46Henry.
37:48Henry.
37:48Henry was on the wall.
37:50We love Henry.
37:51Yeah.
37:51I mean, it's on theme, right?
37:53We're on the beach.
37:54I see everyone fishing here.
37:56So cool.
37:56Good job.
37:58Up next, we have Team Ty.
37:59Yeah.
38:01Yeah.
38:01Okay.
38:02I got up in the lifeguard station and I enjoyed it.
38:06It was fun.
38:07It was super cool.
38:09Any kid would love that space.
38:11And then you turn the corner and you have three built-in beds.
38:16And I'm like, okay, that's good.
38:17You can sleep three.
38:19But then Ty's like, those are trundles.
38:21So now you can sleep five.
38:23Two more beds that pulled out.
38:25And heads and beds count.
38:26So it was really fun.
38:28And then you had the built-in storage.
38:30The dressers at the end of the two beds.
38:32Because we lost the closet.
38:34Overall, I had fun in there.
38:36Yeah.
38:36Super creative.
38:37The only thing that I could pick apart is, yes, when you open up that tight space right
38:43there, you do get whacked in the face by the lifeguard tower.
38:46Yeah.
38:48Last but certainly not least, Team Sarah.
38:52Team Sarah.
38:53I know from my husband, who is an avid workout man, that he would utilize that room as a
39:02workout space all day long and twice on Sunday.
39:05Yeah.
39:06Now, that workout space and all of the equipment does fold up just like the Murphy bed so you
39:13can put it away.
39:14But I just wonder if there was a better space for that workout equipment to just live permanently
39:19so that somebody can just go work out and not have to put it away or put the bed down.
39:26But overall, I think that amenity is super valuable.
39:29I think this season, we're coining the Murphy bed.
39:32The Murphy season.
39:33And yes.
39:33Murphy cribs.
39:35Murphy beds.
39:35Yes.
39:36Two Murphy bed inventions.
39:39You guys all thought outside the box with this one, demoing the idea of what a bedroom should
39:45be.
39:46But one team stood above the rest for sure.
39:51The winner of the show-stopping bedroom battle.
39:59One, two, three.
40:01Sydney and Michelle!
40:06Yeah!
40:06You did it!
40:08Woo!
40:11Check the landing.
40:14Yeah.
40:15Every time their feedback is, we're going hard on our themes, we're going hard.
40:19We're committed.
40:20Yeah.
40:21And this was another committed risk.
40:24Yes.
40:25This one paid off.
40:26Yeah!
40:26Yeah!
40:28Thank you, thank you, thank you.
40:31They won, and I thought we won.
40:33I'm proud of the room that we created.
40:34I think we thought outside the box.
40:36Good job.
40:37Thank you, Scott.
40:39We had a really fun idea, but it didn't quite come together.
40:43Losing back to back just really motivates me for the future.
40:45I want to get this next space, like, crispy.
40:48Well, congratulations, you guys.
40:51Now you have a big decision that you need to make.
40:53Ooh!
40:54How's it going to do?
40:55Put that in the pot!
40:57Do you walk away with your $3,000 in hand, or do you take the risk and double it to
41:05$6,000,
41:07adding that to the grand prize?
41:09Yes.
41:09You built the lifeguard tower.
41:11You get the tile.
41:12No, it's not my call.
41:13I'm not calling it.
41:14It's your call.
41:14I'm not calling it.
41:14I'm not calling it.
41:16She's going to call it.
41:17I'm not calling it!
41:18Now's the time.
41:19What is it going to be?

41:24Oh, gosh.
41:25I think we'll keep it.
41:27Come get your cash.
41:29You built it.
41:29You built it.
41:30You built it.
41:32Congratulations.
41:35Okay, grand prize total stays at $56,000.
41:40Oh!
41:41There's one battle left to see who will be taking home the big bucks.
41:49There is only one space left.
41:52The exterior!
41:54Yes!
41:55Woo!
41:56After that, who is walking away with the grand prize of $56,000?
42:04Woo!
42:05And the winner of Battle on the Beach.
42:09Fire!
42:13This is going to be our secret X Factor.
42:16She's pink!
42:18It's a lot of house.
42:19We hope we like it.
42:20We already pressed for time, and you got us out here doing more tasks.
42:23You'll thank me later.
42:25This competition is coming to an end.
42:29Everything has to be 100% because the judges are really going to notice everything this time around.
42:34We have no time.
42:35It just looks like a bunch of clutter.
42:37We didn't get to finish it.
42:39It looks horrible.
42:41I love that you did something built in and secure.
42:45Not much else I think happened out here.
42:47It looks like they just put the fire pit in and threw some pillows down.
42:52The winner of Battle on the Beach is...
