Supercell storms are thriving in the outer bands of Typhoon Bavi, as extreme meteorologist Dr. Reed Timmer explains.

00:00Right here, we're watching these basins as supercells are coming in in the outer bands of Typhoon Bobby.
00:06You can see when they interact with the coastline, they start to get some movement out here.
00:10Very large waves starting to hit the reef further out.
00:14You can definitely see the angry seeds out there, very dangerous seeds, drip currents as well.
00:19All the beaches are closed and closed out here.
00:21And they are definitely undergoing preparation.
00:24Typhoon Bobby will arrive tonight into tomorrow morning.
00:28And we expect winds of 85 knots, maybe even stronger than that.
00:32This type of dangerous rip currents are out here right now.

00:45You can see the beautiful green water out here.
00:47That's the dry air outside of the circulation is making these supercell storms thrive in the outer bands of Bobby.
00:54We also expect significant flooding.
00:56We're going to be breaking all the gashes and rivers out of the higher terrain.
01:01These are going to be some very dangerous slabs coming out of that.
01:04But right now, we are in position, in the path of Typhoon Bobby, here in Ishigaki, Japan.
