00:00The West Indies tour of Ireland is part of the new ICC Women's Championship cycle
00:04with World Cup qualification points at stake.
00:07The 15-member squad is as follows.
00:09Hayley Matthews, the captain, Aaliyah Alain, Shemaine Campbell, Jazara Claxton, Deandra Doughton,
00:15Afi Fletcher, Janelia Glasgow, Rilliana Grimond, Shanisha Hector, Zeta James, Kiana Joseph,
00:21Mandy Mungroo, Ashmini Munasaw, Karishma Ramharak and Stefani Taylor.
00:26Windies coach Shane Deeds says the objective for the ladies in Maroon is to come out on top.
00:30Yeah, well, these are valuable World Cup qualifying points.
00:33So, you know, we want to try to win every game.
00:36It would be great to do that and leave here with a series win, 3-0, ideally.
00:41But you've just got to get a good start, get momentum, and then carry that into the second and third
00:46ODI.
00:47The West Indies were in Ireland prior to the Women's T20 World Cup for a triangular series,
00:52which the Caribbean side won.
00:54Once again, Windies skipper Hayley Matthews is looking forward to a strong display from her team.
00:59But I think everyone's in a really good space.
01:01We got to Ireland about two days ago and we're able to put in two training sessions now where I
01:07feel like the vibes were definitely high
01:08and the girls have been training really hard to, I guess, adjust to the change of format.
01:14Matthews has utmost respect for the Irish with names such as all of Prendergast, Gabby Lewis and Amy Hunter, just
01:21to name a few.
01:21But at the same time, she wants her players to focus on what they can achieve instead of worrying too
01:28much about the opposition.
01:29I think as a team, we don't want to focus too much on the opposition.
01:33We really want to be, I guess, strong upon being the best versions of ourselves this series
01:38and putting in really strong individual but team performances as well.
01:43Because we certainly do feel like if we can go out there as a group playing at our best,
01:50we know we'll be in the running for some good results.
01:53The Windy's missed out on the 2025 women's ODI World Cup in India
01:57but are hoping to avoid the same mistake in 2029.
