00:00We have a trip down memory lane.
00:02We just sent John on a wild-ass goose chase.
00:04Didn't mean to do it because I actually wanted to throw this by John,
00:07but I want to show you guys how nuts this has become.
00:10Bob Myers is pitching LeBron, saying that his best chance to win,
00:17you remember Bob Myers, big-time NBA general manager, team president,
00:22four-time NBA champ.
00:24Bob Myers says LeBron's best chance to win in Philadelphia.
00:29I honestly believe this is your best chance to win.
00:32You have to decide all the other things that are equally important.
00:35It's his life.
00:36He has to play.
00:37He has to face the scrutiny of his decision.
00:39They'll criticize him, which is his life, so he's been through all that.
00:42If it's about winning, let's talk about this team because you can win here in Philadelphia.
00:46If you want to talk about other stuff, about what's this guy like, what's that.
00:49By the way, he knows players, a lot of them better than I do.
00:52Their games.
00:53This is a guy that probably watches more basketball than anybody understands.
00:56But he's not just playing, and he's probably watching the game in February
01:01that nobody's watching.
01:02So he knows.
01:03Not only does he know the guys, he knows how they play.
01:06So you bring this up about Bob Myers.
01:08This is all playing out on live TV, internet, every podcast.
01:13This whole thing is going.
01:15Bob Myers is now on podcast saying that he should go to the 76ers.
01:19I mean, we are in a wild area.
01:20That wasn't just a podcast.
01:23That was Rich Paul's podcast.
01:25Yes.
01:26With Rich Paul.
01:26I should.
01:27So it's a little different than him just going on any random podcast, on the Zach Lowe podcast even.
01:34That's LeBron's agent.
01:36It's LeBron's agent.
01:37He's pitching LeBron's agent.
01:38We are getting the free agency summit from 2010.
01:43We are getting it in 2026 live and with cameras and microphones.
01:49And it's amazing.
01:50It's amazing how this has been broadcast for public consumption.
01:55He doesn't need to have these meetings.
01:57These are the meetings.
01:58Yeah.
01:59Like, you were reading off.
02:00How old was that article you were reading off there?
02:02Or was that recent?
02:03Oh, no.
02:03This was from 2010.
02:05Okay, what the Cavs did to try to get LeBron?
02:07Yeah.
02:08Because John was nine years old.
02:09John had no idea that any of this happened in the city of Cleveland for LeBron.
02:13He had no idea that there were people lining the streets of downtown, booing opposite cars that came by that
02:21were from different teams, cheering the Cavs, cheering LeBron, telling him to stay.
02:26They made a music video out of the whole thing.
02:29I don't know if that worked for or against, regardless.
02:32He had no idea.
02:34And that was done before this internet age.
02:36Now, I mean, we're seeing the pitches being made live.
02:39What did they actually do for LeBron?
02:41Well, a couple things here.
02:42So, this article was written right after this.
02:44It said,
02:45It went well, said a person with knowledge of Cleveland's visit who spoke to the Associated Press, condition of anonymity.
02:49It was very, very relaxed.
02:51There were moments of emotion and moments of laughter.
02:53So, basically, the Cavs went and they thought they had nailed the pitch.
02:56But the story about each team individually had a very, very different pitch.
03:02We remember the Miami Heat, the rings on the table with Pat Riley, kind of, you know, get the message
03:09sent.
03:09Like, you come here, you're going to win championships.
03:11That's what we do here.
03:14But the best part of this was knowing James as well as they do, the Cavs, represented by Dan Gilbert,
03:19Byron Scott, Chris Grant, tried to lighten things up by showing the 25-year-old a cartoon featuring him and
03:25his friends as characters.
03:26The team had an animated video made in the style of Family Guy, one of James' favorite TV shows that
03:31depicted some inside jokes and locker room humor as the Cavaliers reminded James that he is indeed part of their
03:36extended family.
03:37I remember a little bit of that at the time.
03:41I forgot all that.
03:41I think there were fart jokes.
03:43Like, pardon the usage.
03:46Fart jokes are fun.
03:46I think that was literally what they were just trying to, you know, impress upon him is we're family.
03:53You grew up with us.
03:55And obviously, as we know, LeBron probably didn't need any of the pitches.
04:01He probably was always going to Miami.
04:02I'd like to say that we have a far better nucleus around us than we would have in 2010.
04:07Am I wrong?
04:08Well, they'd used up all the assets at the time.
04:11And I know it was a different time and things like that.
04:14And I know Adrian Wojnarowski wrote that it was basically already a done deal regardless of anybody's pitch.
04:20But it does kind of take you back to the way things were.
04:23And you guys are right.
04:24Like, I didn't realize that.
04:25Bob Myers is with Rich Paul, who is LeBron's agent right now as he says that.
04:30And that's for all of us to see.
04:32That's public consumption.
04:33So the meetings, LeBron says he's not going to take meetings because these are the meetings.
04:38The podcasts and us playing them from Rich Paul and all the other ones, these are the public meetings.
04:43I mean, that's insane.
04:44Is Dan Gilbert going to be on a podcast with Rich Paul?
04:47Is Kobe Altman going to be on a podcast with Rich Paul?
04:49Well, so maybe you could read into this.
04:52There might be some tight questions there asked about Darius Garland and all that stuff.
04:55That might be very interesting.
04:56Sure.
04:56Honestly, doesn't it feel like?
05:00And you could tell me if, yes, I'm obviously biased.
05:03I'm obviously going to be emotionally attached to this.
05:06And I do feel like it would be hard for me to see him with anybody else at this point.
05:13Doesn't mean we haven't gotten it wrong with LeBron in the past.
05:17But I saw Daryl quote tweet it and say, all right, Cavs are up.
05:21The Cavs aren't up.
05:23The Cavs are only going to be up if they're desperate and they think they need to.
05:28You don't want to make a pitch?
05:29I don't think they have to.
05:31That's what I'm saying.
05:32Like, if I saw them make a pitch.
05:34You got to make a pitch.
05:35No, Kenny, if I saw them have to make a pitch, I'd be like, oh man, they don't think they're
05:39getting them.
05:39But you got to make a pitch.
05:43Well, I think that's already all that's been finished already.
05:47Okay, well, they don't need to get, like, I'm not expecting Kobe Altman to get on his hands and knees
05:51in front of Rich Paul on his podcast
05:53and beg LeBron to come back or anything.
05:56That's not what I'm pointing out.
05:59I think there is a respect given.
06:01You can't just sit there and assume that he's going to come back.
06:03I know that there's all these things of him at his club and in the golf outings and things like
06:09that.
06:10You can't just assume that he's going to come back.
06:12That was, he still likes his respect.
06:15Does he not?
06:16Does he not want to feel wanted?
06:18Yeah.
06:19I think that would be a major mistake if there weren't strong overtures posted.
06:23If Kobe Altman, I'd feel, honestly, I'd probably feel better if I saw Kobe Altman on the podcast.
06:29Really?
06:30Yeah.
06:30I would.
06:31Because you got to talk basketball.
06:33It's not just coming back and, maybe I'm wrong.
06:38This is wishful thinking, of course.
06:39You guys know the number.
06:40Let me know.
06:41Maybe Lyme is right.
06:42I just think he is.
06:43I just think the moment I see Kobe now in response to Bob Myers, if it was Kobe or, you
06:50know,
06:50we don't have a GM currently, but it's expected that it's going to be Brandon Weems getting the bump up.
06:55Yeah.
06:56Then I feel like the Cavs don't think they're getting him.
06:58And so now they have to pitch.
06:59Now they have to go do this.
07:00They have to try to save face.
07:02See, I don't feel that way.
07:03Like, if Kobe Altman goes on Rich Paul's podcast and just starts ripping Bob Myers and says,
07:12like, this is why Bob Myers is wrong and why this is bad, I might be a little bit worried
07:17about something like that.
07:17That would come off as desperate to me.
07:19But a person like LeBron wants to be liked.
07:22He wants to have his respect.
07:24He does.
07:25And I think that you have to give a good, honest pitch to Rich Paul, to LeBron, all the team,
07:33that this is why you want to come back.
07:35Because it's not just, I think a guy like LeBron could feel taken advantage of very quickly.
07:39Yeah.
07:40Oh, yeah.
07:40And that's where I don't want him at.
07:42I don't want him to feel like, oh, you guys just want me back for what?
07:44Some dog and pony show?
07:46Because why?
07:46Because your ticket sales are lagging?
07:48Because it cost $10 to get into the building last year, even though you were a 54-win team?
07:52Is that why?
07:53Is that it?
07:54Are we going to do this again?
07:55Am I going to sit here and feel the way I did in the summer of 2010?
07:58Or I should say the spring of 2010?
08:00Like, I don't want that to happen.
08:02So, yeah, you better put on a suit and tie and better get on over there and start telling your
08:07story and giving your pitch.
08:10Which, you don't, it's got to change from what it was in 2014 and 2010.
08:14Like, it's, you don't have to move heaven and earth, but you give what he sees.
08:19You got a good basketball team around there.
08:22I don't, I wouldn't say you go in, I'll just fire Kenny Atkinson if you come here, but maybe it's
08:27on the table for some folks out there.
08:29They don't need to act desperately, but they need to act.
08:31They need to, they need to have discussions.
08:33Good, strong ones and, and tell them why this is a place to come back and finish your career.
08:39Not just because the fans like you.
08:43I'm getting, I am getting smashed over my opinion of the Cavs.
08:49Why?
08:49Over that they should make a pitch to LeBron.
08:52Or to, uh, Rich Paul and LeBron.
08:54And that Kobe Altman should show up on Rich Paul's show.
08:57Because Bob Myers is on the show.
08:59Now, Bob Myers, everybody else would need to make a pitch.
09:02Would they not need to make a pitch?
09:03I think it reeks of desperation.
09:06I think it's a one last ditch effort.
09:09I mean, you're drunk from last night, though.
09:11You don't make any sense.
09:12But I think, I think Philly is throwing everything they can.
09:16Because they, they make a compelling case.
09:18You know, the problem with their compelling cases, they're relying on Joel Embiid.
09:23And so, what are the odds you actually get Joel Embiid to play enough games and be able to get
09:29through the playoffs?
09:29He had three good playoff games last year.
09:32And that was about all he could muster.
09:33All right.
09:33Let me, let me get to the phones here.
09:35Let me see if I could find some backup on this.
09:38Justin in seven hills.
09:39Don't call it six hills.
09:40You're next up on the fan.
09:41Hello, Justin.
09:43Hey, I don't think you're going to find any backup from me.
09:46Oh, boy.
09:46It's, it's July 8th, Ken.
09:49You don't think the Cavs have made a pitch already behind the scenes?
09:52Bob Myers.
09:53Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
09:54We said, we said, we said they made some pitch.
09:57But I think that they need to go public with it, don't they?
10:00I do they?
10:01I mean, Bob Myers, you think that was some groundbreaking testimony that he threw out to Rich Paul?
10:06No.
10:06No, but you're going to, but if you want his services, you're going to at least, you're going to go
10:10through the motions and act like you like it?
10:12Oh, no, no.
10:12I don't think so.
10:13Not for LeBron.
10:14Oh, since when are we in a position of power?
10:16Do you believe, so you don't even care if we have LeBron back then?
10:20Obviously, I do care, Ken.
10:22But no, I don't think we are.
10:23Well, if you care that much, then you better tell Kobe Altman to hustle up and tie that tie and
10:27get his ass over there to the studios.
10:29If anybody's got the closest relationship with LeBron and his team, I have to, my gut tells me it's probably
10:34the Cavs crew.
10:35All right, I'm sure they're doing what they got to do behind the scenes.
10:37I don't know.
10:38And if Kobe goes on, it's just a wink, wink.
10:41Here we go.
10:42So, this is what I'll get.
10:43I'm telling you the same thing.
10:45I don't think they need to do it.
10:46How long has Kobe Altman been the general manager slash team president of the Cleveland Cavaliers?
10:50Thank you, Justin.
10:51It's been a long time.
10:51Was he that position in 2018?
10:54He might have been.
10:56But, I mean, eight years changes a lot of things, all right?
10:59I mean, some of these guys were just assistant pimps before.
11:02Now, they're in it.
11:03Well, let's think about this.
11:04So, I'm dead serious.
11:05That's not where they got to go out there.
11:07I'm not saying to beg.
11:08Yeah.
11:08But, for the guys to say, well, they don't need to make a pitch, then I guess you really just
11:11don't want him back.
11:12Guys like LeBron want his respect.
11:14You're not going to take him for granted.
11:15That's half the reason that he said he left in the first place.
11:18Yeah, I mean, look.
11:18LeBron.
11:18In 2010.
11:19LeBron and Rich are certainly, they're not, you know, foreign to this concept.
11:25They've been through it.
11:26They also know, you know, where these teams are in the pecking order.
11:31Think about it this way.
11:32I mean, Brandon Weems, probably going to be your next GM of the Cavs.
11:36Romeo Travis, now coaching the summer league team all of a sudden.
11:41And those are nice gestures, obviously, but it still matters.
11:44There's a lot of ducks in a row.
11:45The James Harden contract, still we don't know the terms.
11:48Because, why?
11:50Because once they kind of figure out what their plan of attack here is, what their flexibility situation is,
11:59like Donovan Mitchell, already with that stability, that contract signing.
12:06Like, to me, it really does.
12:08The last three weeks of LeBron nostalgia with his old teammates to now with his St. B teammates.
12:15He's got to put the right period on the near future.
12:18I just think this is all reaching the inevitable crescendo that is LeBron James making his announcement.
12:27It may be.
12:28And you may be right.
12:29In fact, I'll take it even further.
12:30I think when it's done, like LeBron's going to go, if they do get him, LeBron's going to go,
12:34they didn't need to make one to me.
12:36The fans in Cleveland, Ohio.
12:38My family in Cleveland, Ohio.
12:39Now, I've always been a part of you.
12:41That's probably what he's going to say.
12:43But, you know, I've told you guys a bunch.
12:46Liz and I don't celebrate.
12:47Don't give each other gifts.
12:48We don't give each other gifts for Christmas, birthdays, anniversary, Valentine's Day, Mother's Father's Day.
12:55We don't do it.
12:56That doesn't mean you don't make an effort.
12:58Okay?
12:59That doesn't mean I don't try to do something for her birthday.
13:03You know, just because we may not give each other gifts doesn't mean I don't try to do that.
13:07She still is my wife.
13:09She's still a woman.
13:10She wants to feel wanted on our anniversary.
13:13I've done a month of gifts for my wife.
13:15Well, you've spent yourself into hawking and into oblivion.
13:18You've taken out a second mortgage to be able to go see Chris Brown and Usher.
13:23You've done all those things.
13:25Just because we don't give gifts doesn't mean there's not an effort that needs to be made.
13:29Just because we have a history together, you still need to be what everybody wants to feel wanted, including LeBron.
13:36Nobody wants to feel like they're taken advantage of.
13:39So a thank you would be nice.
13:42Hey, by the way, is LeBron going to play for the max deal?
13:45No, he's not.
13:45He's going to play for less.
13:47So that's a discount.
13:48Because wherever I go, if I'm LeBron, you guys are going to make a boatload of money off of me.
13:52And I'm going to play for a discount?
13:54And you could say, LeBron, you're going to make a boatload of money too.
13:57Don't act stupid.
13:58Yeah, but we're talking about your business, not mine.
14:00And don't call me stupid.
14:02That's what I would say if I were LeBron.
14:03No, you've got to get your ass out there and make some sort of a public pitch.
14:07If that's what's needed, that's what they need to do.
14:12It sounds like you're just taking nostalgia for granted.
14:15Because LeBron can sit there and look at all this and say, hey, we've had great memories together.
14:19And by the way, you'll still build me a statue when it's over.
14:23And if you don't, they'll do it in Akron.
14:25And then they'll wonder why you didn't build me a statue.
14:27Try not.
14:29Try not retiring my jersey.
14:31Try not having me back for the 15-year and 20-year and 25-year, et cetera, et cetera, anniversary
14:36of the one championship that I know you'll win and probably will only win if you don't get me back.
14:42Because you didn't think it was worthy of having to come make a pitch to my agent, one of the
14:48three most powerful men in sports.
14:50You're crazy.
14:52You're crazy.
14:54You make that effort.
14:55You do everything you can.
14:57You don't need to go out there and embarrass yourself and beg him and get him on your knees and
15:01act like an idiot.
15:02You don't need to do that.
15:04But you need to go out there and give a damn good effort.
15:06You don't even want to hear me anymore.
15:07You don't think this is dumb.
15:08You think this is dumb.
15:09Let's see.
15:09Let's see.
15:10Jim in Strongsville.
15:11Hello, Jim.
15:12Yeah, you know what, Ted?
15:13You know what Bob Myers looks like?
15:14He looks like a pathetic loser.
15:16A pathetic loser begging LeBron James, 40-year-old LeBron James, to come play for a team.
15:23He's the president of an NBA team.
15:25He didn't beg anybody.
15:26He didn't beg anybody.
15:28The 76ers will never win anything because they hire a pathetic loser like this.
15:32They want a championship.
15:33Did they get it in 83 or something like that?
15:35They've won a title.
15:37Dude, pathetic loser.
15:39You want the Cavs to look like pathetic losers running around with their little cuffs out.
15:45They're not pathetic losers.
15:46They've been pathetic losers before.
15:48That was when Chris came and took a nap on the bench when they lost to the four-man Lakers.
15:52That was pathetic.
15:53This isn't pathetic, but you need to go and make an effort to bring him back.
15:59He knows what you are.
16:01He knows you want.
16:01And that's fine.
16:03It's okay to put him in a position to go, guys, you don't need to do this.
16:08I appreciate the effort.
16:10I appreciate the respect, but you don't need to do this.
16:13You put him in that position instead of having him listen to all these other suitors, these
16:18possible teams, or his agent, Rich Paul.
16:21Listen to all these teams and go, boy, the Cavs just seem like they're taking us for granted
16:24again.
16:25None of it matters.
16:26Remember that?
16:27Because Rich was in the room with him in 2010.
16:29Rich was in the room with him in 2010.
16:31Boy, LeBron is just like when they showed us cartoons.
16:33But when they showed us cartoons, they figured Family Guy was enough to seal the deal.
16:38It's like Lima said, do you think he was ever going anywhere but Miami?
16:41So what the heck was it all about?
16:43Just to stroke his ego?
16:45I get when you, I get, Ken, that you like your ego stroke.
16:48LeBron's past that, man.
16:49He's in his 40s.
16:49He doesn't need that anymore.
16:51He knows he's great.
16:52You know that's not true, Jim.
16:54You know that there's nobody who hates me more than myself.
16:57Look at me.
16:58You understand that there's self-loathing here.
17:00And now you're doing it for a show and I have to let you go.
17:04I can't believe that people are agreeing with you on this.
17:07Look at me.
17:08Stop looking at your mentions.
17:09I know that everybody's agreeing with you.
17:11I cannot believe it.
17:12The people who want LeBron, you guys are all telling me that this team is garbage if
17:16LeBron doesn't come back, but Kobe Altman doesn't have to say nothing.
17:19Okay.
17:20All right.
17:21You know, he can fly back and golf at the country clubs, right?
17:25He still owns Club 330.
17:26He lives in Los Angeles.
17:28He's had all these businesses here in Ohio.
17:31He doesn't have to play for the Cavs.
17:34Let's stop being silly.
17:36We're doing some of the same stuff.
17:38I have the memory.
17:39John isn't from here and John was nine years old.
17:42But we're doing some of the same crap we did in 2010.
17:45Okay.
17:45All I'm saying is I think that we're past the pitch stage.
17:49And I think the people you're hearing from now, they know they're not getting them.
17:54And that's why they're pitching them.
17:56I hope you're right.
17:58But to say that they don't need to, I think is foolish.
18:03Sean in Cleveland.
18:05Hello.
18:08Oh, he's listening to the radio.
18:10Sean, you got to turn the radio down.
18:12Yeah.
18:12Yeah.
18:13Yeah.
18:13All right.
18:14Let me have it.
18:14Let me have it.
18:15Everybody hates me for this.
18:16Apparently, I'm wrong for whatever reason, even though we already did this in 2010.
18:20But whatever.
18:23Honestly, I do think LeBron James is going to come back to Cleveland.
18:27He is beloved here.
18:29And all this crap about the fit is not right or whatever.
18:35What team have you ever seen LeBron James go to and he wasn't a great fit or the players around
18:41him, he didn't make them a great fit?
18:43And one last thing, you know, I don't know if anybody talked about this or not, but the last time
18:50that he came to Cleveland, Ohio, and he played for the Cavs, I mean, he played for the Lakers, and
18:57they did this big thing for him.
19:00LeBron James was on the bench crying.
19:03And that's nice.
19:05He was very emotional.
19:05That's a nice thing.
19:06But you know what?
19:08I mean, he has spent, we cannot understate this.
19:11I'm not asking the Cavs to beg.
19:13I'm not asking the Cavs to embarrass themselves.
19:15I want them to take themselves seriously and make a pitch.
19:18Because we can do nostalgia all we want.
19:20And he can look at this and go, hey, it's a great memory, but I just spent eight years being
19:24a business partner of a team that basically acted like they didn't need me.
19:28And their fan base is saying a bunch of nasty things about me out the door, saying that I wasn't
19:32a real Laker, I just wore the jersey, that the championship didn't count.
19:36I need somebody that's going to give me real basketball reasons and stop playing with the past.
19:41Give me something real.
19:43Give me a reason to come there.
19:45Or tell Rich Paul.
19:46Rich Paul gives him a reason to come there.
19:48Give Rich Paul a reason for him to go there.
19:50Like, that's what I want.
19:51I'm not telling them to beg.
19:53For the love of God, stop telling me I want the Cavs to beg, everybody.
19:56Not just you.
19:57Everybody, Sean.
19:58I'm not telling them to beg.
19:59But damn it, you go out there and you make an effort about this.
20:02Yeah.
20:03You have to.
20:04I agree with you.
20:05Thank you, Sean.
20:05I think you have to make a pitch.
20:07I appreciate you agreeing with me.
20:09Thank you very much, Sean.
20:10You have a wonderful day.
20:12I got one.
20:13I can't.
20:15We just take LeBron for granted all of a sudden?
20:17Oh, he'll come back.
20:18That's fine.
20:18I have never, never once taken that dude for granted.
20:21I don't think you are.
20:22I don't.
20:22But I think you've got everybody believing that.
20:24No, we don't have to say nothing to him.
20:26Okay.
20:27What's his favorite TV show now?
20:29Should we just send him clips and memes of his favorite TV show?
20:32Maybe it's Curb Your Enthusiasm.
20:34Let's send him Curb memes.
20:36I mean, what the hell?
20:38Give him a reason.
20:41Probably playing lessons with the pros or something.
20:43This is a blast.
20:44I'm getting smashed in the comments.
20:46Just absolutely smashed in the comments.
20:51This is great.
20:57So, all I said is that the Cavs need to go and make a pitch.
21:03Not, like, in person.
21:04LeBron isn't taking in-person meetings.
21:06The pitch, I mean, can we replay the Bob Myers?
21:09Like, this type of a thing.
21:10Yeah, so let me set it up.
21:11So, the new president of the Philadelphia 76ers, we know Gansey was the one he hired, but Bob Myers is
21:19kind of overseeing all this.
21:20He was the, at the time, back in the day, the genius former agent and, you know, the guy that
21:27helped build the Golden State Warriors.
21:29Then he went into TV.
21:31Now, he's on the Rich Paul Max Kellerman podcast.
21:37And he's openly pitching the agent of LeBron James.
21:41I honestly believe this is your best chance to win.
21:44You have to decide all the other things that are equally important.
21:47It's his life.
21:48He has to play.
21:49He has to face the scrutiny of his decision.
21:52They'll criticize him, which is his life.
21:53So, he's been through all that.
21:55If it's about winning, let's talk about this team.
21:57Because you can win here in Philadelphia.
21:58If you want to talk about other stuff, about what's this guy like, what's that.
22:01By the way, he knows players, a lot of them better than I do.
22:04Their games.
22:05This is a guy that probably watches more basketball than anybody understands.
22:08That's a fact.
22:09He's not just playing, and he's probably watching the game in February that nobody's watching.
22:14So, he knows.
22:15Not only does he know the guys, he knows how they play.
22:18All right.
22:19Kobe doesn't need to go that far.
22:21He doesn't need to go the ass-kissing way of, well, he probably knows the players better than I do.
22:25You've won four championships as an executive.
22:27You can give yourself a little bit of credit there, sir.
22:30You don't need to go that far.
22:33Kobe doesn't need to go that far.
22:35But you need to show up.
22:37If it would help, why not do it?
22:40What is the problem?
22:41I don't understand why you would feel worse if he showed up on the podcast.
22:44Oh, I think that...
22:46This is Rich Paul's podcast that Bob Myers was on, and we just played that clip for him.
22:50Yeah, the reason I came to that conclusion was that, in my mind, this stuff has already been settled behind
22:57the scenes.
22:58It's why they're dragging out the James Harden part of this.
23:02We just had the Donovan Mitchell domino fall yesterday.
23:06Then why does it have to be dragged out if it's all been worked out behind the scenes?
23:08Well, I do think LeBron has a date and a way to announce this that is going to be meaningful
23:13to him.
23:14Fair.
23:14What, is it going to be the anniversary of 2010?
23:17Today's the anniversary of 2010.
23:19What?
23:19I thought it was the 11th.
23:20No, it was July 8th.
23:22Oh, you're right.
23:22And the 11th was 2014.
23:26But, ironically, Donovan Mitchell was in the crowd that day.
23:29I don't know if he was one of the boys and girls club that, you know, was representing Connecticut or
23:33whatever,
23:33but isn't the story that Donovan Mitchell was there that day?
23:36Which is, you know, the symmetry of something like that.
23:40I did not know that.
23:42Or at least I forgot it.
23:44I've got this new thing called Google over here.
23:47Well, I was supposed to Google that Donovan Mitchell was...
23:49Dude, it would spin in my timeline for...
23:51It's supposed to Google everybody.
23:52...for three weeks right now.
23:54Google everybody?
23:55Everybody.
23:56Jim Gray was there that day.
23:57Yeah, he was.
23:58Google him.
23:58Could he be back?
24:01Could that be part of it?
24:02Like, how would they...
24:03When you really think about it, I know we've got calls to get to, to maximize this.
24:07And people hate LeBron for this stuff, and I'm seeing it.
24:10I'm seeing a lot of people because I think they're hedging because they think if he doesn't go, I want
24:14to be able to kill him.
24:16Yes, I agree with that.
24:17But to maximize this, you know, he wasn't the number one guy.
24:21It was Giannis.
24:22Giannis was the number one guy.
24:23Then Jalen Brown became a huge factor.
24:26Well, yeah, because they have futures out of him.
24:27Because they do.
24:27He only has one or two years.
24:28It's only fair.
24:30But how do you think he's going to announce this?
24:32Is it going to be on the Rich Paul podcast?
24:34Probably on Rich Paul's podcast.
24:35I saw people alluding to that.
24:36Yeah, probably that way.
24:38Is there another grandiose way he could do it?
24:40I thought there was a chance yesterday.
24:42Is this like a gender reveal type of thing?
24:44Yeah.
24:45He'd do that?
24:47Go to the phones.
24:48Diane in Brooklyn.
24:49Hello, Diane.
24:51Hi.
24:52How are you guys doing today?
24:53I'm doing wonderful, Diane.
24:55Go ahead.
24:56Okay.
24:56Ken, I want to tell you that I completely agree with you.
25:01Hell yeah.
25:02Thank you very much.
25:02And all these other viewers are not looking at it the right way.
25:06Appreciate it.
25:06I don't care if it's Cleveland.
25:09You want to be known that you're not taken for granted.
25:13You want to know that other teams are interested in you.
25:17But the Cavs do need to make a pitch.
25:19I don't care, you know, if LeBron does say in the end,
25:23well, you guys didn't need to do that.
25:25Fine.
25:26But you need to throw your hat in there.
25:28Because if I was LeBron and it was me and I didn't see the one team
25:33that I really want to come back to making a pitch,
25:36that would be negative with me.
25:38That would be totally negative with me.
25:41It would be just like a repeat of before.
25:45And I think that that's wrong.
25:47Whatever job you're in, I don't care if you're in construction
25:50or you're an office worker or whatever,
25:52if you put in for a job or whatever and you want to be considered for it,
25:57you want to be appreciated.
26:00And LeBron's no different.
26:01I agree.
26:02I mean, and he's earned that right.
26:04I agree totally.
26:04Diane, thank you very much for the call.
26:06I mean, I do not want to underestimate.
26:11You could say egotistical, but it's the human need.
26:15Hell, it's the human need as an adult to want to be wanted,
26:18to want to be appreciated and respected.
26:20The funny thing is, Brandon Weems,
26:21who does not have the GM job yet officially,
26:24but it seems to be trending in that direction.
26:29They've just been hanging out over the last few days.
26:31How crazy is this?
26:32The whole thing is crazy.
26:34That part of it is crazy.
26:35The fact that Bob Myers, a sitting president and executive,
26:40is pitching Rich Paul, and you're right.
26:42You said it when the mics were off.
26:43But what's he doing there?
26:45He's ass-kissing.
26:46I said it on the air, too.
26:47Yeah, you got four championships, and you're saying that.
26:49Well, he probably knows the guy's better than me.
26:51Okay, let's not kiss too much ass here, Bob.
26:53All right, I know what you're doing, but let's not go crazy.
26:56Because I think he sees through BS, too.
