00:00NATO leaders gathered in Turkey on Tuesday with a message for Donald Trump.
00:05We are heeding the call to spend more on Europe's defence.
00:09The Ankara summit saw a series of big deals set out.
00:13Among the announcements was a plan to spend $4.5 billion on new early warning radar planes
00:19from Sweden's Saab.
00:21Speaking earlier, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte called for a defence industry revolution
00:27to counter Russia and China.
00:29He said the alliance would establish its own fleet of transport aircraft as one step.
00:34Allies are also launching a new multinational project focused on the Airbus A400M.
00:41This is world-class strategic airlift capability.
00:46Other deals included a commitment to buy surveillance drones from US firm Northrop Grumman.
00:51The UK said 12 European nations would spend $50 billion on new long-range weapons.
00:58And Canada said it would buy a fleet of up to 12 submarines from German company TKMS.
01:05None of that appears sufficient to stop the US president feeling let down, however.
01:10Trump said he might have boycotted the summit, but for his warm relations with Turkish leader
01:16Tayyip Erdogan.
01:17He continues to blame European nations for doing little to help with the US-Israeli strikes
01:23on Iran.
01:23And he used the summit to renew his calls for US control over Greenland.
01:29That should be controlled by the United States, not by Denmark.
01:33Speaking at the summit, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said she expected allies to
01:39respect her country's sovereignty over Greenland.
